Tinky makes a valid point at which we as Christians should be able to come to a common consent based upon our collective maturity in Christ and discernment of good and evil having had our senses exercised to do so. While there is a biblical standard for showing the ingesting of alcohol to be OK in moderation, I can find nothing in scripture that gives understanding as to anything good or bad concerning the burning and inhaling of a substance outside of incense. There is a reference of two having brought strange fire before the Lord who were dealt with harshly for their error. Their job was to burn incense in their censers before the Lord.

I tend to err on the side of caution because we live in a sinful world where we are admonished about the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.

There is a difference. One glass of wine should not get anyone drunk. It may take three or more, depending on your metabolism and how often you drink. However, one hit of marijuana will get you stoned. It is like apples and oranges. That is the trouble with questions about pot. There really is no comparison.

What is your opinion on medicinal marijuana?

The same I have about any medicine. There is a time for them and a time not to use them. I have been up front that I had smoked pot for well over 35 years, mostly for medical reasons after 1987. I did this until Christ healed me. Then, I no longer needed the drug to curb the pain.

Ask a pharmacist. Medical marijuana exists in the form of marinol, a pill that takes marijuana into standardized form as a pain medication. It is rarely used because folks do not like it. It does not work as well as other pain meds and they do not get high from it.

Medical marijuana laws were written to start the process of legalizing it for recreational use. No other medicine is permitted to be sold in unstandardized form by someone not a medical practioner. Since it is not standardized in potency, one can have varied effects from it. Which is not how real medicine is practiced in this country.

The King James Bible translators translated “pharmakia” as “witchcraft”, because witches and sorcerers used drugs most commonly in pagan worship to hallucinate and to try to get in touch with evil spirits.

I sure hope you are not implying that doctors and medical folks are witches because they prescribe or dispense legal drugs to people.

Whoa! Take it easy, guys!

I was looking at it from this angle: It's not wrong for Christians to drink alcohol as long as they don't get drunk, so would smoking marijuana in moderation also be okay?

If you have to ask, then it's not faith. If it's not faith, then it's sin.

Since when is asking a question a lack of faith?

What if she was asking the question to open a dialogue about it because others were asking her and she desired input?

You should not be so quick to judge the motives of one's heart like this.

By the way, I don't do either. I'm simply curious of the types of answers this subject would receive.

Looks like you got some interesting answers.

I spent a good part of my life in the drug scene before finding Christ. That's why I answered the way I did. Jesus cured my addictions and I have no desire or use for those substances any more. I'm glad of the freedom from that bondage.

Alcohol can be consumed in moderation, and a person need not get drunk. Marijuana is different. There's no reason to smoke the stuff if you're not going to get high. There is a huge difference. Marijuana can still be a gateway to other drugs even if its legal in some areas now.

Maybe it's just that time of year. A few reminders. This may sound familiar. Abuse of other posters is not allowed. Debate the subject not the person and more importantly respect each other in the love of God. It is possible to disagree on a subject/doctrine without insulting/attacking the person with whom you are debating.

God bless,

Debate the subject, not the person. It is possible to disagree about a doctrine or subject under discussion without insulting the person with whom you are debating. Also remember that the fact that a person disagrees with you does not mean they are attacking you as a person. Respect each other in the love of God! This is the main reason that threads get stopped, shut down, and even deleted! Users that cannot respect others will be banned. (Lev. 19:18)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
