I'm inclined to agree, O.O.  But the burning question in MY mind is......how on earth could the NSA let peon little contractors have access to top secret information?  Are they just stupid or what?

LOL.  That's hilarious.  The governments that are able to are already surveilling their citizens; they don't need the NSA's blueprints to conduct surveillance on their citizens. The countries that aren't doing it is because they don't have the funds for it.  As for how to evade the NSA surveillance; the people who can are already privy to that information.

Federal Government budget constraints make it necessary to have contractors doing some of the work.   By necessity these individuals will have to have a TS SCI clearance.  Getting a TSCI is a long and arduous process that weeds out many potential problems, but it is not fool proof. 

 

Snowden worked as a network administrator, which gave him at least superficial access to vast amounts of information that was within the network, you really cant be a network administrator and not have such access.

 

But it does seem that the NSA and other agencies got complacent because of the safeguards in place, thinking this sort of thing could not happen.

That is why I used that little word "if". ......   but then again, I've had access to things that would boggle your mind during  work on secure printers for DOJ and DOD and others.  Considering the things one swears oaths to and documents signed, one should have to be pretty driven to break them.  I have not read anything that others have done that was illegal.  At the worst I have read, he seems to be saying that he was in a position to cross the line, not that he knew anyone had.

If the court system can allow the government to look at these things, someone has to have the ability to do so.......   and those people should be very carefully picked for those jobs....   and it looks like we failed to pick wisely with Snowden.
