We are immodest,

we indulge immodesty,

we tolerate immodesty,

we reward immodesty,

No.  WE do not all fit your description.

I find it offensive that you would even think so.

If I have a sin problem, I don't go looking for others to identify with me in that sin.  I go to God and ask/beg Him to deliver me from it and shine HIS light into my heart and on my path.

No one has to wallow in it.

It's just not true.

I have struggled ... but I'm not giving details...I say rather that God has delivered me from my destructions and is faithful and will continue and does continue.

His grace is sufficient for me and for whosever will may come.

Christians should not be defeated...if you are, you need to get real with God.  The heart is desperately wicked and only God can plumb those depths for you.

So no, I am not going to agree with this op.  Are you more than a conqueror or have you lost the way because you have your eyes on yourself?

Im with seven. we dont all have that problem. There is a HUGE difference between "accepting" immodesty, and not being able to do anything about it. Yes, immodesty is everywhere in our culture, but if we stood up and screamed SINNER! to every woman with cleavage in wal-mart we would just get labeled haters and legalist, and get kicked out. Christian men who have learned discipline change the channel when racy commercials come on, dont watch movies with lewdness and sex, there are a good many christian woman who do dress modestly. Theres a good deal of christians who are fighting against this problem in society to. So instead of sitting here and grouping everyone in this "evil" conspiracy group, we should instead step up and do our part to correct the problem-pointing fingers doesn't solve anything.

I'm going with sevenseas on this one.  I am not immodest myself, I don't watch the half-dressed idiots on t.v. nor do I encourage or condone others to be immodest and I am NOT responsible for the actions of others.

No,you can not do anything about it.That is what is so frustrating to me.I have to look at this garbage everywhere I go.You can not go up to someone and say "Have you thought of putting some more appropriate clothing on?".

I would say that you are correct with the above statement.

I am just trying to figure out who "we" are?  Does that mean the nation as a whole, or every single person?  I doubt you are immodest Bopeep, and I know I 'm not.  I don't even wear shorts on the hottest days of summer.  Just wondering where he's coming from on that?

You are right.I have corrected my response.I was way too tired lastnight after working many hours.I came back and looked at it and when I could focus correctly I thought "WHOA".

It would depend on what you define as "immodesty". Grandma thought it was "immodest" to wear shorts in the summer. I have even heard of some people who believe men should not wear short sleeve shirts. We all have our own personal believe about what is consider " immodest." And it is a personal thing.   And what do you mean by saying " You tolerate it in others?" Maybe I do but then what am I suppose to do? I can not force the rest of the world to believe as I do. (I wish they would but they don't) I can not go around town trying to cover people in layers of clothing because I think they are "immodest". I hope no one does that you may get arrested.

Their is nothing that you can do.I can't see myself going up to a lady and saying "Excuse me but would you please put on a more appropriate shirt so that your breasts do not show so much".Her boyfriend or husband would probably shoot me. :o

I still don't get how it is my fault. Care to explain that ?

Pee Wee Herman did a marriage ceremony on his playhouse show to a bowl of jello    Do we take these matters seriously or not?

I have never taken Pee Wee's playhouse seriously, (actually I hated that stupid show when I was a kid) Nor do I take jello seriously.

Stay out of the "red light district." we all know what goes on there.

The OP is based on the premise that people are so debased that they cannot look at someone dressed immodestly and not have a lustful thought.  Maybe he can't but I certainly can.  All I see is someone who probably doesn't have much common sense and obviously doesn't have enough self-esteem or wisdom to dress appropriately when in public.  Lust doesn't enter into it, so the premise is false.  And I am not responsible for what they wear nor can I change it, so am I even partially at fault for the immodesty they display?  No I am not.  They are the ones responsible, and no one else.

i agree

I don't know what you mean by the jello.I know Pee Wee did some bad things but I did not follow it.My kids loved his show. But when I look back on some of his humor in the show I think.......

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
