So yeah....

I had like two big booklets of cd's, and I threw them both away.

A lot of hip hop, a lot of teen angst stuff,

a lot of various artists who I don't follow anymore.

I did however keep about 10 or so cd's.

So I went from about 500 to about 10.

It was hard at first, but it was strange and healthy.

I woke up one day and was wondering why I still had these cd's.

Why do I have these cd's when they don't really do it for me anymore.

I guess you can say I'm growing up, being 32 and all.

I'm really into films more than music these days.

Or maybe, since I'm an artist too I see the bigger picture or something, lol.

My favorite artist right now is Kim Walker.

I like her new album 'Home'.

Is anyone in the same boat here?

I had to stop listening to some songs due to explicitly blasphemous or extreme sexual content, but I still listen to most of the stuff I enjoyed previous to my conversion. Also my classical collection I suspect will be safe.

I dunno bary, that bach character.

I didnt have this issue with music since I dont have a lot of cds and my tastes tend to be a bit different to begin with.

However I found myself cutting out a lot of tv programs.

My Christian hubby though still rebels (his own words) with music and listens to things like nirvana. Ug.

We are all being changed from glory to glory and so our tastes are also being modified. I used to enjoy "24" until I couldn't take the torture scenes. So I suppose that other shows will eventually disappear as well. I still like Christian hard rock but I never did get into the secular stuff. Now I can't afford to buy CDs because my priorities are changing and my heart wants to give to missions; not much is left over. That is simply the direction God is leading me at the moment and I don't consider this any more holy than you guys getting rid of the stuff you find offensive. It is all a matter of God changing our hearts. Who knows what God will do in us next.

Currently I am bored with most movies. Offensive language and sex scenes in my opinion demonstrate a lack of vocabulary and writing talent if they must be relied on to sell a movie. This is another time that conditioning may be taking place, telling us that "everyone is doing it" so there is nothing wrong with it. It simply ticks me off to have the industry tell me a movie is good when it stinks.

Old movies like Fiddler On the Roof and Rhapsody in Blue I can watch over and over, partly because I love the music, and some for the history. And I still like classics like Arsenic and Old Lace.

I can't watch the intense stuff before I go to sleep so I watch Matlock! How pathetic is that! But there is something relaxing and satisfying in the inane.

Blessings,

Willa

I digitized all the music that I have ever owned.  I stopped getting new music with very few exceptions in the early 1980's.

I had purchased a 10 inch reel to reel recorder when i was an early teenager and when i bought a record i'd take it home and record it.

the records got destroyed in a move in 1979.  I transfered about 1,500 songs to digital from those 1/4 inch tapes in 2001.

I have them backed up on carbonite two desktop one laptop and use my smart phone to play them.

We drove back from Seattle to Oklahoma in June and I didn't hear the same song twice.

and yes some of it is classic.....  that helps one drive across Kansas  LoL

mainly rock music

right now soul and inspiration

I agree. Just the other day I got The Cosby Show season 1. It's good to get out of that 'new age realism' generation.  :)

My tastes in music have changed a lot over the years and that's because of the Lord, not me.

I used to listen to a lot of the 60's - 80's rock and all that, but not so much any more. Some of the older Christian artists I like (Phil Keaggy being one example that comes to mind) but I don't have much taste for a lot of the modern stuff. I also don't have a lot of money for CD's and that, so it has to be good for me to buy it.

My tastes in TV and movies has changed also. I don't care that much for all the senseless violence and sex that is in so many of the newer movies these days, and I'm glad the older ones are accessable on DVD or streaming too. TV: all I'll say is don't get me started . . . :whistling: I just don't find much of it entertaining at all, and some of the so-called "comedy" shows I've seen I just didn't find funny.

I'm going to keep what music I listen too to myself for now. Because I know if I told you guys what music I am into you all would question my Christian walk. So lets just saying that most of it is loud and heavy.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
