everyone I know believes we are not to add to the words of that book fire-heart....Daniel is one thing...Revelation is another...I'm not really a Bible prophecy buff, but these verses seem pretty plain?

not saying they are not connected either...but I don't pretend to know what I don't know...LOL!

18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.  Revelation last chapter

glad you looked it up...I like it when people verify things and I try to do the same... :)

well it actually says don't add to or subtract from, right?  if you travel around enough you will find that people do both...I don't want to do either

What exactly makes one a prophet? The question should be who exactly makes one a prophet.

The answer is God.

And if you have to ask if you are a prophet or have to convince others, chances are you are not.

If God gifted you with prophecy, you would know it, and in all probability so would others.

1 Cor. 14:3 ALT3 But the one prophecying to people speaks edification, and exhortation [or, encouragement] and comfort.

Note that nothing is said about fortelling the future. It does not rule out that but the primary purpose is to build up the church spiritually and strengthen her (edify). It may urge, warn or admonish her in exhortation, but most often it encourages her and comforts, according to the need. An inspired sermon often contains prophecy delivered incognito. When I taught middle school aged girls sundayschool, often the phrases the Lord had given me for them were repeated in the sunday morning sermon. I did not stand up and say "thus says the Lord" or present it in any way as from God. Nor did our pastor while preaching do this. But the peace in our hearts bore witness to the truth of what was being preached. Even stranger, often I would turn on The Lutheran Hour and later Dr. Charles Stanley and hear the same message repeated later in the week. It would remind me of the phrase "hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches."

Blessings,

Willa

A prophet prophesies ... and they come true.  However, speaking of what is ALREADY WRITTEN is not exactly a prophecy.  And even if a prophecy comes true, if that person speaks err over the Word of God, they are to be ignored regardless of the prophecy.  That is the Law of Moses.

Old men will prophecy

Young men will dream dreams

Seems to me, and I have no reason to say you haven't experienced those things, that you are a DREAMER.

Oh, and there is a little fact behind Prophets - none of them were "worthy".  None of them were sinless.  None of them were "special"

NONE OF THAT IS IMPORTANT ANYWAY.  What is important, is that you do as you must so that your name is written in the Lambs Book of Life ... even as Jesus said.  Gifts are less important than the FRUITS of the Spirit, for even the antichrist will work mighty miracles (lying wonders).

I don't trust in "gifts".  Even the Scripture says, "The gifts of the Lord are without repentance."  In other words, He doesn't make mistakes and He doesn't take them back.  LOL  A person could be living foul, but still healing people or casting our demons ... but heading straight for Hellfire.

I wouldn't call what you describe a prophet because you have not prophesied, nor have you endured the Law of Moses to TEST a prophet (believe me, I've very good at testing self-professing Christians [Nicolaitans]), now have you shown prophecies or the fulfillment.  What you are describing are closer to DREAMS then prophesies.

I believe that for any modern prophet,
they should only speak words from the Lord as He tells them too.

If they are in error at all in that, then are they truly prophets of God?

The bible says 100% accurate or they are not from Him.

Too many disregard this and claim to be prophets of God when they are in error!

I know of someone who went to a revival meeting. He was met at the door of the tent by a dude who had a name tag saying Prophet John. Prophet John said "welcome! And what is your name?".

The guy replied "you are the prophet, you tell me"

It's one reason why Worthy does not allow people to use names like Prophet Fez.....

I have seen a lot of obvious guesswork on these forums over the years.

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee. Deuteronomy 13:4-5

Fireheart, If you have a problem with "Joes words" I suggest you take it up with the author.   He didnt even say who he was directing his posting of this scripture to so perhaps the Holy Spirit is ministering to you.  :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
