I had something very unexpected happen to me yesterday. I wondered if any of you have ever had similar experiences.

I’ve recently found a park that is very special to me. It’s just off the freeway, but it has a bridge that crosses over into a sort of nature trail. (Not exactly the remote wilderness, but enough to forget about work anyway.) Since I’ve discovered it, it is something I look forward to eagerly. Whenever I can, I go there with my binoculars and bible and walk out to where there are some benches about a mile and a half away. Places out in nature have always been where God feels closest and reading the bible comes much more naturally with nothing but birds around rather than cramming it into a busy schedule as we often do. Contrary to having blathered my entire pathetic life story in a very disastrous post, (Bleh. Still squirming), typical me prefers to keep a bit to myself. If a friendly looking family or couple pass me on the trail, I might smile, but if it is a male, I will nearly always fix my eye on some distant point and stride pass as quickly as possible.

Perhaps a week or two ago, I was striding along and up ahead I could see someone in a wheelchair. (It is a paved trail through the naturalized landscape and it backs up to businesses nearby.) I was looking off to the side as per usual, but I just happened to glance over and was startled to see that he was young and rather good looking. He greeted me and gave me a dazzling smile and I was glad I hadn’t averted my eyes as though this other person were invisible. It did strike me that a smile like that was real joy, not those fake things we put on to keep up appearances. But I didn’t think much more of it than that, until yesterday.

I was sitting on the bench reading and then I saw him coming towards me. (And yes, I admit it. I had that, “Oh, no” reaction.) He asked me what I was reading and then began telling me his life story, how he used to be in the partying scene, drugs, alcohol, etc. until he got into a terrible car accident. How God moved in his life and took the pain away and replaced it with joy. Then he told me that, “The whole way down here, God put you on my heart. I didn’t know why but He really wanted me to tell you that you are especially on His heart right now.” “But you’ve only seen me one time!” I said. But he just kept saying that God had really put that impression on him to talk to me and pray with me.

I’m still not quite sure how I feel, actually. I mean it seems very special if God really did make such a tangible demonstration, but I must admit I felt a little edgy at the same time. I just wondered if anyone of you had ever experienced something that others might call a “divine appointment.”

Ive encountered things like this too. He has clearly brought folks together for whatever reason, to spread the gospel, to encourage someone etc.

Yes God has used people to meet with me on several occasions they were divine appointments.  God knew what was in your heart during those times you went out to the park and he saw you sitting there and met with you.  That is so cool.

God sent two Christians to me when I was a new Christian looking for a church. At the time I had gotten caught up in a very cult like church. God apparently had other plans for me and did not want me in this church....He uses us and I hope I can do the same for someone one day.

Yes absolutely. It's how I met my wife. Only God could have brought us together.

Her testimony (which is not on Worthy), is amazing and she has been invited to share it as an entire sermon in our church as well as other meetings.

So yes, and if it feels like God's hand is on this, and you feel comfortable, pray about it and let God do the rest, whatever the rest might be.

Yes, and one such appointment, though slightly different, occurred when one of our mods, Fez in South Africa, sent Nigel (NCN) a message when he most needed it. Fez was in the quiet of the jungle discribing the sights and sounds of the beauty of the day. Nigel was in a clinic about to receive a round of chemo therepy. It was a divine appointment that he so needed. God is so good to know when we need to be encouraged and need a friend. God does put people on our hearts to witness to or to reach out to.

Unfortunately, some people misinterpret this. I had this happen at another church concerning a new young couple. God put them so strongly on my heart but I did not know them and felt that they needed to be included by other young couples. I prayed for them intensely but could not let it drop. Finally I called their home and spoke to him since his wife was indisposed.. He was upset but would not say why. Asking what I could do, he finally said that he had played the drums for a punk band and wanted to be in another band. I knew a young music teacher who was working on a doctorate in percussion, and called him, asking him if he would listen to the kid play and perhaps include them socially as well. He was also in charge of our music team at church. Well, the kid is now playing drums for that church. Unbeknown to me, It was a pivotal point of his life. His bride had just left him. The music teacher's ministry kept him on the right path and helped to give him stability during the crisis. But I was attacked by his mother who viciously railed on me for gossiping about him. I had known NOTHING to gossip about. No one had told me a thing and the last thing I wanted to be was a busy body or a gossip. She could not understand how God can put people on our hearts and that we can be an instrument in divine appointments.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
