The origin of the word Christ:

The word Christ comes from the combining of the ancient Greek word for anoint and the ancient Hebrew word for Messiah -> Greek:  Khristos  (anointed)  - > Latin Christus  - > Old English Crist  - > Christ.

If one does a quick google search on    -  define christ -     the very first entry had a "more" arrow - trigger that and an image of a language tree explaining this appears.

LORD = kurios = adonai = the One with aboslute power and authority in the universe, and for the believer "Master" and "Owner" since He has purchased us with His blood. The Lordship of Christ is directly connected to His resurrection (Acts 2:22-36), since His resurrection proves that Christ has destroyed the power of death and brought immortality and eternal life to all who believe.  But it also indicates that He has destroyed the power of sin, Hell, Hades, and Satan, and will therefore bring into existence the New Heavens and the New Earth.  It further confirms that Jesus is God since only God Himself is called "the LORD" and therefore Thomas confessed "My LORD and my GOD".

JESUS = Iesous = Yeshua or Yahshua = God our Salvation = God our Savior = Emmanuel = God with us = I AM.  The name "Jesus" was given to Him by God Himself (Mt 1:21) "for He shall save His people from their sins". "Jesus" denotes that He is both God and Savior.

CHRIST = Christos = MashiachMessiah = the Anointed One = the King, Savior and Deliverer of Israel, who became the Suffering Servant of God the Father, as well as the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world. It also denotes that Christ is a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, and David, and therefore the eternal King of Israel.  He came to Israel as King-Messiah, and even the Gentile wise men knew without the shadow of a doubt that He was "born King of the Jews" (Mt 2:2), as did the Gentile Pontius Pilate (Mt 27:37).

Christians (and even preachers) are not generally taught (or generally aware), that the proper designation of Jesus is "the Lord Jesus Christ", not merely Jesus or Yeshua.  You will note that every benediction to Christians comes from "God the Father and THE LORD JESUS CHRIST".  And there is always a solid spiritual reason for the Holy Spirit's choice of words.

Shalom, ENOCH2010.

I await your answer Roy, I know you are a great teacher, you have taught me a lot over the years.

Thank you for those kind words. It does my heart good to know that I’ve helped someone. In reality, I’m just another voice. Hopefully, we all teach each other in some way a little more about God’s Word for we all who have been justified by God have the Ruach haQodesh (the Holy Spirit) of God to teach us.

And, as just another voice, here’s my answer:

I believe that the phrase “the Lord Jesus Christ” has been blown way out of proportion in this modern age. We should look at a few verses by way of introduction and hopefully you will see what I mean:

“The Lord"

Psalm 110:1

1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
KJV

T-hillaah 110:1

1 L-Daavid mizmowr: N’um YHVH la-’(A)doniy, “SheeV liymiyniy `ad aashiyt oyVeykhaa hadom l-ragleykhaa.”

`ad = until
aashiyt = I-place/make
oyVeykhaa = your-(singular)-enemies
hadom = a-footrest
l-ragleykhaa.” = to-your-(singular)-feet."

Matthew 22:41-46
41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
KJV

Notice in these two passages that we have gone from TWO words (“YHVH" and “Adoniy”) in Hebrew to ONE word (“kurios”) in Greek.

The word “Adown,” spelled “alef-(patach)-dalet-vav-(with-cholem)-nun,” means “a city-founder/one-who-lays-a-foundation.” The “-iy” suffix means “my.” Thus, “Adoniy” means “my-foundation-layer.” As such, the word has also been used of a master or a lord (in the Brittish sense), one whose home WAS the city for many people. The first times the word is used is in Genesis 15:2, 8 and 18:3, 12. Sarah said this word of Avraham, whose tent was his home and was enlarged for his wives, his children, their children, and their servants! He lived as a Bedouin, following his herds and flocks as they grazed the hills of the Middle East. It came to be used as a “father,” in the sense that the father was the master or lord of the household. He didn’t set down roots until Sarah died and he bought a parcel of ground in which to bury her.

It was also the word used of the king in David’s time as the king was the “master” or “lord” of the people, the foundation-layer and provider for the kingdom!

1 Samuel 24:5-8

5 And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.
6 And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, [Hebrew: la’-(a)doniy = to-my-master] the LORD'S anointed [Hebrew: li-m(a)shiyach = to-mashiyach = to-(the)-anointed/messiah], to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.
7 So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
8 David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.
KJV

And, David NEVER raised a hand against Sha’uwl (Saul) and prevented his men from doing so. He was their king, and the king was God’s choice and representative for the kingdom!

Time after time, we are told that Yeshua` is the one chosen to be king of Israel. He was not “born a king.” How could one be ruled by an infant? That would be ridiculous. He was "born to be a king.” Even Yeshua` didn’t pursue the kingship promised Him until He was about 30 years old!

Luke says it that way:

Luke 1:30-33
30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
KJV

Just because He was rejected by that generation, that rejection doesn’t mean that this prophecy won’t be fulfilled! To the contrary, it shall be fulfilled EXACTLY as promised, just not in that generation.

Now, let’s go back to the fact that we have gone from TWO distinct words (“YHVH" and “Adoniy”) in Hebrew to just ONE word (“kurios”) in Greek: It is extremely important, then, that we check the context of anything we read in the NT for the verses quoted from the OT and see to which “kurios” the NT passage is referring. If one doesn’t do that, then he or she is susceptible to making a wrong conclusion by choosing the WRONG word in the OT and assuming that the NT passage refers to that wrong word!

“Jesus" is an Americanized, Anglicized, Hellenized, Aramaic/Hebrew name. The way it came to us is fascinating:

Hebrew/Aramaic: Yeeshuwa` (pronounced “Yay-SHOO-`ah)
Greek: Ieesous (pronounced “YAY-soos”)
English: Jesus (pronounced “YAY-soos”)
American English: Jesus (pronounced “DZHEE-zuhs”)

The original Hebrew/Aramaic name means “he-shall-rescue” or “he-shall-deliver” or “he-shall-save,” and that name was dictated to Yosef and Miryam (Joseph and Mary) by a messenger (Greek: aggelos) of God:

Matthew 1:21-23
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
KJV

This name, therefore, is important because of its meaning. It comes from Isaiah 7:14-19:25 which STARTS with “Behold, a virgin shall be with child....” Within this passage, there are MANY Messianic prophecies which were quoted in the NT! Some are these:

Isaiah 7:14-16
14 Therefore the LORD himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.
KJV

Isaiah 8:7-8
7 Now therefore, behold, the LORD bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.
KJV

Isaiah 9:1-2
1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
KJV

Isaiah 9:6-7
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son (Hebrew: bar = “an heir”) is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
KJV

Isaiah 11:1-12
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
KJV

Isaiah 12:1-5
1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation (yeshu`atiy); I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation (yeshu`atiy).
3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation (yeshu`ah).
4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
KJV

Isaiah 14:24-26
24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.
KJV

Isaiah 19:17-25
17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.
19 In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.
20 And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.
21 And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.
22 And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.
23 In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.
24 In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst (middle) of the land:
25 Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
KJV

Yeshua` shall be the TOOL of God - the MEANS - by whom to perform the rescue of His people! Indeed, Yesha`yahu (Isaiah) the prophet is not done with this idea here. He goes on through the rest of the book! It is, after all, ONE PROPHECY!

“Christ" is a VERY misunderstood word. Let’s go back to the root:

The Hebrew word that is the foundation for the title “Maashiyach” or “Messiah” is “maashach”:

OT:4886 maashach (maw-shakh'); a primitive root; to rub with oil, i.e. to anoint; by implication, to consecrate; also to paint:
KJV - anoint, paint.

OT:4899 maashiyach (maw-shee'-akh); from OT:4886; anointed; usually a consecrated person (as a king, priest, or saint); specifically, the Messiah:
KJV - anointed, Messiah.

(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

This word, "maashiyach," was translated into the Greek as “christos,” which means the same thing:

NT:5547 Christos (khris-tos'); from NT:5548; anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:
KJV - Christ.

NT:5548 chrioo (khree'-o); probably akin to NT:5530 through the idea of contact; to smear or rub with oil, i.e. (by implication) to consecrate to an office or religious service:
KJV - anoint.

(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

A problem arises when one comes to the false conclusion that there is only one “messiah” or one “christ,” one “maashiyach” or one “christos."

Another problem arises when one comes to the false conclusion that “somehow” this term “christ” means that Yeshua` (Jesus) is God’s Son or even God, as though the term had something to do with divinity.

The Greek language has capital letters and minuscule letters, but seldom were they mixed and never were they treated as we use capital letters and minuscule letters today. Some documents (papyri and manuscripts) used all capital letters; some documents used all minuscule letters, and there were some documents that were written in uncial letters, a third type similar to the capital letters for manuscripts.

In English translation, some words, nouns and pronouns, are given a divine status by capitalizing the first letter of a name or title. The biblical Greek language doesn’t do that. Thus, “Christos” would have been written as either “CHRISTOS” or “christos,” spelled “chi-rho-iota-sigma-tau-omicron-sigma."

And, it’s also important to understand that there was indeed more than one “messiah” or “christ” or “anointed-(one)." Beginning with Aharon (Aaron), all the priests were so anointed.

Psalm 133:1-3
1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
KJV

Exodus 28:40-41
40 And for Aaron's sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty.
41 And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.
KJV

Exodus 30:22-33
22 Moreover the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
23 Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,
24 And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin:
25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.
26 And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony,
27 And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense,
28 And the altar of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot.
29 And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.
30 And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.
31 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations.
32 Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.
33 Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.
KJV

Some prophets were also anointed:

1 Kings 19:15-16
15 And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
KJV

And the kings were anointed, as well:

1 Samuel 10:1
10 Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?
KJV

1 Samuel 16:13
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
KJV

2 Samuel 2:4
4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabesh-gilead were they that buried Saul.
KJV

2 Samuel 5:3
3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David king over Israel.
KJV

1 Kings 1:39
39 And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.
KJV

Thus, there were MANY “anointed ones” or MANYmaashiyach’s” or MANY “christs!” Yeshua`s anointing may have been unique as He was anointed by God directly at His baptism, He was anointed to be all three, high priest after the order of Malkhiy-Tsedeq, prophet, and king, and that He was the LAST to be so anointed to be king, but His anointing was really the same as the anointing of His predecessors - He was specially selected by God (His Father) to be Israel’s King.

He is David’s “seed”:

1 Chronicles 22:9-10

9 Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
10 He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.

1 Kings 3:6
6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

Jeremiah 33:20-21
20 Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;
21 Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

The question is " The Lord Jesus Christ",

As a beleiver that's how I see it.

a) I belong to his family, because of the blood of the new covenant, adopted in his blood. And his spirit.

b) independent from my obedience I have a heavenly place waiting for me,

c) He has all authority in heaven and earth.

In my life, he is my savior, and i want him also to guide me and to make his specific will know to me.

And he save me from the power of sin, not that I don't sin, but because the Devil can not use sin as a reason to take me to Hell. The Devil had no authority to make this decision. That authority belongs to Jesus.

I am free from the condemnation of sin, the power of sin to give death.

Jesus became sin for us, so we can live our life's

Free from the fear of sin.

Hi Retrobyter,

That is some really good teaching there. I appreciated it. Thank you.

In short - In their combination, these three titles (the Lord Jesus Christ), express His administrative power, His atoning passion, & His anointed person.

The Bible's use of "Messiah"  is very unique when the term is applied to Jesus.   There were other "messiahs" in  terms of being anointed to various tasks but there is only one person who is THE Messiah, and that is Jesus.

It is the same with the use of "son of God"   The book of John, which emphasizes Jesus deity, uses the phrase "The Son of God"  in a way that differs from the usage of that phrase when we are referred to as "sons of God."   John uses the phrase to emphasize the fact that Jesus is God.

The term Messiah  doesn't mean "God" or "Deity"  but it is used in a unique way when applied to   Jesus.  We see in Matt. 26:63-64  that the terms are used in a unique way:

"But Jesus held his peace and the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God that thou tells us whether thou art  the Christ, the son of God.   Jesus saith unto him, thou hast said, but nevertheless I say unto you, that hereafter you shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power and coming in the clouds of heaven."

The term "Son of Man"  is another term for, "The Messiah."  After Jesus said this, they accused him of blasphemy.   Jesus affirmed that he was the Son of God AND the Son of Man.  "Son of God"   was a statement of equal deity with God the Father.   The concept of Jesus' deity as God and his role as Messiah are closely linked in the New Testament.

One cannot be an true follower of Jesus or an authentic believer and reject the eternal truth that Jesus is God.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
