Assuming that you are first a Christian; how does one know if they have the Holy Spirit in their life? How do you know when you have been filled with the Holy Spirit as I hear so many people say? I have been told that first you get saved, then you get baptized with the Holy Spirit. How does all this happen and how do you know if it has happen to you?

Because the Bible tells us that we do.We take the Bible's words as truth.

He kept me from being across the street under that oak tree when McVey blew up the Federal Building in Oklahoma City.   No one in that parking lot lived as far as I know. My car would have been at the end of the red line.

cratercopy.jpg

That morning as I got up and drove to OKC to where my first call was to be the Holy Spirit gave me a sense that something was wrong.  This happens sometimes when we have our day planned out wrong and I just thought it was over daily planning.   I called my team members  and asked them how they felt about the day and none of them were really uneasy about it.   Our jobs make it necessary that we work as a very coordinated group......    the closer I got to downtown that feeling was not just uneasiness but growing into a real fear of going there.....   When I finally called my team mates and told them I was changing the work cycle we decided to have a meeting instead.

I could honestly say that as I drove past down town Oklahoma City I had feelings of complete terror about the place.....     It was the second worst thing I think I ever experienced.

We ended up in a meeting about three miles away from the blast, and the ground raised my chair two inches in the air when the bomb went off, and the compression front actually sucked all the ceiling tiles up and they fell down on us...    We were in the flight path of takeoffs for Will Rogers Airport and we thought a plane had crashed into the building...   so, I figured that God just didn't want me to go that day.....    but He had to scare me half to death to accomplish it.

As you might think, I've been much more sensitive to his directions since that day....

I'll have to give some thought to expressing the worst time though.   Some people accuse me of being crazy when I talk about that one.

There won't be anybody on the judgement day who will be able to use the excuse - "God, you never gave me the Holy Spirit."

Because it is by the Holy Spirit that all things live, and by the Him that angels are commissioned to work for the salvation of mankind.

God said "My Spirit shall not always strive with man" My Spirit will not continue forever to try and correct wayward sinners and bring them back to Me.

Jesus said that His sacrifice would draw all men unto Him. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin and righteousness to all that God loves. For God so loved the world. Whomever the Lord loves He disciplines, "there is no rest for the wicked" the Spirit strives with them to repent. But they don't listen.

So all have the Holy Spirit in their lives, but the thread question is not about having the Holy Spirit, but being filled by the Holy Spirit, right?

The disciples of Christ and the prophets and people of old, were not "filled with the Holy Ghost" at all times, but as needed and as appropriate according to God. The apostles exhort us to seek to be filled by the Holy Spirit, because this is the will of God, and the fulfillment of the mystery of God which is Christ in you.

Just as on the day of Pentecost, sins are to be put away and confession made, and unity of faith and love with fellow believers will bring the latter rain, or the outpouring of the Spirit in the last days.

Then there will be no mistake as to whether we have been filled by the Holy Spirit. Signs and wonders will follow and the message will rock the world, as it did at Pentecost.

Assuming that you are first a Christian; how does one know if they have the Holy Spirit in their life?

(a) By faith, (b) by the witness of the Holy Spirit within, (c) by the spiritual fruits in one's life, (d) by the spiritual gifts received from the Spirit and exercised in the power of the Spirit, (e) by answers to prayer.  Being filled with the Spirit translates into a bold witness for Christ. See Acts 4.

When we die to ourselves literally! We no longer look to the deadness of our sensual perceptions but relying
on God's Word we see it being performed within us... we see sins hold being taken away; we see desires
changing; we see increased interest in Scripture; we see attitudes change; we see faith born out of the Word
become precious to our hearts; we see Jesus as the Scripture forms His Person in our minds and increases a
love within us not of this worlds produce etc... Love, Steven

and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 1 Corinthians 12:3

you can't know in this life; you must take God's word for it:

Luk 11:5-13 KJV
(5)  And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
(6)  For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?
(7)  And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.
(8)  I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
(9)  And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
(10)  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
(11)  If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
(12)  Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
(13)  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Luk 11:5-13 GW
(5)  Jesus said to his disciples, "Suppose one of you has a friend. Suppose you go to him at midnight and say, 'Friend, let me borrow three loaves of bread.
(6)  A friend of mine on a trip has dropped in on me, and I don't have anything to serve him.'
(7)  Your friend might answer you from inside his house, 'Don't bother me! The door is already locked, and my children are in bed. I can't get up to give you anything.'
(8)  I can guarantee that although he doesn't want to get up to give you anything, he will get up and give you whatever you need because he is your friend and because you were so bold.
(9)  "So I tell you to ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you.
(10)  Everyone who asks will receive. The one who searches will find, and for the person who knocks, the door will be opened.
(11)  "If your child asks you, his father, for a fish, would you give him a snake instead?
(12)  Or if your child asks you for an egg, would you give him a scorpion?
(13)  Even though you're evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. So how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
