The Silent Whisper of Familiar Spirits

Familiar spirits are demons or fallen angels. And while we as believers in Jesus Christ are not susceptible to demon possession (since we are already indwelt by the Holy Spirit), we can be influenced by familiar spirits whose silent whispers can come across as our own ideas or even those of the Holy Spirit. This is why we are to test the spirits (and IMHO whatever pops up into our fertile little minds):

Easton bible dictionary defines it as Sorcerer or Necromancer.

These mediums summoned their “guides” from a hole in the ground. Saul asked the medium (witch) of Endor, “Divine for me from the hole [ob] (1 Sam. 28:8), author’s translation.
        God forbade Israel to seek information by this means, which was so common among the pagans (Lev. 19:31; Deut. 18:11). Perhaps the pagan belief in manipulating one’s basic relationship to a god (or gods) explains the relative silence of the Old Testament regarding life after death. Yet God’s people believed in life after death, from early times [e. g., (Gen. 37:35; Isa. 14:15ff.)].
        Necromancy was so contrary to God’s commands that its practitioners were under the death penalty (Deut. 13). Necromancers’ unusual experiences do not prove that they truly had power to summon the dead. For example, the medium of Endor could not snatch Samuel out of God’s hands against His wishes. But in this particular incident, it seems that God rebuked Saul’s apostasy, either through a revived Samuel or through a vision of Samuel. Mediums do not have power to summon the spirits of the dead, since this is reprehensible to God and contrary to His will.
        Easton’s Bible Dictionary: Familiar spirit—Sorcerers or necromancers, who professed to call up the dead to answer questions, were said to have a “familiar spirit” (Deut. 18:11; 2 Kings 21:6; 2 Chr. 33:6; Lev. 19:31; 20:6; Isa. 8:19; 29:4). Such a person was called by the Hebrews an ob, which properly means a leathern bottle; for sorcerers were regarded as vessels containing the inspiring demon. This Hebrew word was equivalent to the pytho of the Greeks, and was used to denote both the person and the spirit which possessed him (Lev. 20:27; 1 Sam. 28:8; comp. Acts 16:16). The word “familiar” is from the Latin familiaris, meaning a “household servant,” and was intended to express the idea that sorcerers had spirits as their servants ready to obey their commands. 

 

 

This is what the bible means by familiar spirits.  But today it is more in line with what I posted above.   I really don't want to go beyond this.  I don't think it would be good for you or for me or anyone else here.

I don't know much about the differences from fallen angels being now chained in hell and demons who are now part of this system we live in.

Perhaps if some one has scripture they can share it so  the difference between fallen angel and demons.Because as of now i don't see one. I always thought that the demonic principalities that are in our system come from satan and his fallen angels who became demons after the fall.

Scripture does not tell us that if we ignore Satan and his devices that he will go away.  However, that is exactly what our churches are teaching!  They are not teaching us the truth of God’s Word.  Something else our churches are not teaching is that evil thoughts (derived from evil spirits) are plaguing many Christians.  Their soul and flesh are being tormented by evil spirits.  Although the person is saved their soul is still afflicted by Satan and his evil spirits – simply because the soul is where our emotions are.  The Hebrew word for ‘soul’ in the Old Testament is “nephesh, neh’-fesh; …sense… appetite… breath… desire… greedy… heart… life… lust… mind… pleasure… will”.  The Greek word for ‘soul’ in the New Testament is “psuche, psoo-khay’; …breath… heart… mind”.  The Greek terms “exactly correspond respectively” to the Hebrew.  Lust not only affects our flesh as some Christians believe, it also affects our soul.  Lust can, and does, affect a person’s soul – even a Christian – and Satan uses this lustto war against our soul, enticing us to sin.  I Peter 2:11:  Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.

Some Christians are being so strongly afflicted by evil spirits they are hearing voices and are tormented by these voices.  They do not know where to turn for help because a lot of Christians (including the leadership) are saying that this does not, and cannot, happen to people who are Christians.  But, this is not true!  Isaiah 9:16:  For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.  Because those who are hearing voices believe this lie they are afraid to tell anyone what they are going through.  They feel as if they are alone, so they just hold it all inside.  They do not know that there are other Christians who are also dealing with evil thoughts, and voices. 

Not all Christians who hear voices realize that the voices they are hearing are evil.  In some cases, the voices are supposedly giving them messages from God but are telling them to do evil things.  For fear of not doing what they believe God is telling them many do whatever the voices say.  In reality they are being deceived by evil seducing spirits.  To a few the voices may start out telling them to do good things, and even giving some scripture.  It is usually when the person becomes comfortable with listening to these voices that the voices will then begin telling them to do evil things (even sexual things) that are contrary to God’s Word.  Some of these Christians may even be seeing, or hearing, what they believe is a loved one who has passed away.  However, it is not them!  It is nothing more than an evil familiar spirit posing as someone they know the person would listen to (someone they are familiar with).  Out of love and respect for what they believe is their loved one many will do whatever the spirit tells them.  Some may even see what they believe to be Jesus Christ (usually looking like the false pictures they are so familiar with).  These evil deceptions are causing people (including Christians) to have extremely evil thoughts – thoughts that in some cases if they are not stopped may lead to very evil actions – actions that could define a potential rapist, or serial killer (many of who are usually labeled as having narcissism).  See my document on ‘narcissism and these last days’.

Due to their lack of knowledge about the truth of God's Word many Christians unknowingly have unclean items (including religious décor) in their homes and have created an atmosphere for evil visitation.  Many have participated in, or even watched something that allowed a spiritual connection in their mind and their life to Satan's realm.  They may have unknowingly re­connected some serious generational iniquities (sins) – and are now being led astray.  The spiritual source (or doorway) to this re-connection can be religious relics, Satanic objects, and/or objects that may have been passed down to them from an ancestor (i.e. their ancestors clothing, jewelry, etc.; or possibly even a picture of a loved one in a casket – which they should not have).  If you are a Christian and you are hearing voices, or seeing things, ask the Lord to show you if you have anything or are participating in anything that could be allowing this.  Many times Christians will see spirits that they do not recognize as evil.  These spirits may even look similar to objects they have in their homes.  (One example: Many are seeing what they believe are angels and they look like the false statues and images they have in their home.  II Corinthians 11:14:  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Some other things evil spirits operate through (besides pagan statues and images) are music and videos.  People I have talked with before said that even when they were young their parents played music in the house and it was not good music.  Their parents would also watch the television late at night (bad shows) and they (the kids) could hear what their parents were watching as they were drifting off to sleep.  Afterwards, maybe even weeks later they would start hearing a voice(s).  The reason they were hearing this voice is because their parents were allowing things into the home that they did not know would affect their kids spiritually.  Though their parents were not really being affected, at least not by voices, the devil would still try and scare the kids because they were young (and he continued as they grew into adulthood).  

If we know, and practice, the truth of God’s Word (the Bible) – as Christians – we do not ever have to be scared because Satan cannot trick us.  A lot of times it is when a person gives their life to the Lord that Satan increases his endeavor against them.  But remember what God’s Word tells us in II Timothy 1:7:  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

          Isaiah 61:1-4 (also Luke 4:18-19):  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.  And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. 

          If you are a Christian and you are hearing voices, or seeing evil spirits, then please say the following prayers:

 

          Father God, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth (the true Messiah), and by the power of the Holy Spirit I ask that you would destroy every evil assignment against my generation(s).  I command every evil spirit and every evil familiar spirit assigned by Satan to be removed from my life, and my family (all present and future members).  I apply the blood of Jesus Christ to my life and the lives of my family members.  I ask that all evil assignments against my generation and my future generations would be cancelled from this day forward.  By faith in Jesus Christ I believe you have heard and answered my prayer!  Amen.

 

          Father God, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I confess to you my sin of rejecting you (by not following your commandments).  I also ask that you would forgive my family for rejecting you and teaching me to do the same.  I ask forgiveness for the abominations I have committed, including the abominations I have brought into my home, because I did not know the truth about your Word (the Bible).  I apply the blood of your Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ to my life and the lives of all present and future generations in my family.  I ask you to destroy all evil assignments against us.  In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I also ask you to stop and destroy every evil assignment against my children on my spouse (or ex-spouse’s) side of the family.  Through my faith in Jesus Christ I believe that all evil assignments against my generation and future generations have been cancelled.  It is my prayer that from this day forward my entire family will make a decision to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and never reject Him or His commandments!  Joshua 24:15:  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.  Amen.

 

          Father God, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,I take authority over every evil spirit that I have allowed into my mind or mid-brain (even from childhood) through my eyes, ears, and mouth (this includes evil spirits associated with music, T.V., videos, computers, pornography, drugs or alcohol, smoking, etc).  I also ask forgiveness for every unclean word that I have spoken due to the influence of these evil spirits.  I give Jesus Christ complete authority over my heart, my mind, my thoughts, and my mouth.  I ask you to help me gird up the loins of my mind.  I Peter 1:13:  Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  Please cleanse the conscious, unconscious, and subconscious areas of my mind (setting me free from all fantasy pictures, mind travel and out of body experiences, or times of blackout and trance-like states of mind).  I ask you to forgive me for anything that I may have done to my family (including my grandparents, my parents, my spouse/ex-spouse, or my kids).  I also ask you to forgive me for anything that I have done to cause them to reject me – and I especially ask you to forgive me for anything that I have done, or said, that would cause them to reject you.  I repent for not knowing or obeying your commandments, and I repent for not teaching them to my children.  I give everything in my life to you Lord Jesus and I ask you to renew my mind, covering every area of my mind and soul with your precious blood.  I ask you to please do the same for my children.  Cleanse their mind (including their mid-brain) from all evil influence, and please forgive me for allowing my children to put any unclean things in their eyes, ears, and mind.  I ask you to remove all evil spirits and all evil suggestions from our minds and keep our minds and lives free from every evil device.  In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, my generation and every future generation of my family are forever free from every evil assignment directed towards us (due to our own disobedience, or the disobedience of our forefathers).  Nehemiah 9:2:  And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.  I ask that you would heal me, and my family members (present and future), from any type of mental or physical illness that may be caused by these evil spirits (this includes the evil spirits of fear, torment, or physical and emotional pain).  I thank you Lord for hearing and answering all my prayers.  In Jesus name!  Amen.      

 

          I now declare before heaven (and hell) that I acknowledge and accept Jesus Christ of Nazareth as my Risen Savior.  I know, Jesus, that you died for me and that God has raised you from the dead – and you are alive.  Matthew 28:5-7:  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye:  for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.  He is not here:  for he is risen, as he said.  Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  And go quickly, and tell his disciples the he is risen from the dead…  Because you have been given new life, I have been given new life.  I ask you Lord Jesus to put a filter on my memories and completely cleanse every un-Godly echo from my past.  Please cover my old memories and my old hurts with your precious blood.  I refuse to let Satan continually echo things from my past into my mind any longer, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.  I completely surrender my mind to you Jesus Christ.  I want to hear only the things you tell me.  Create in my mind, heart, and my life new memories.  Echo your thoughts and plans to me.  Help me remember only what you want me to remember, and never what Satan wants.  I thank you Jesus that not only have you removed the un-Godly echo’s of my past but from this day forward you will also filter anything that goes into my eyes, ears, heart, and soul.  I ask you to protect my mind and allow your Holy Spirit to work in my life.  I Peter 1:13:  Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  Isaiah 26:3:  Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:  because he trusteth in thee.  Ephesians 4:23:  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.  I am surrendering my life to you and the lives of my family from this day forward and forever more.  I thank you Jesus because your Word says if I ask anything in your name you will do it.  John 14:14:  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.  Amen!

          Important note:  We are deceived when we do not believe Satan is using religious icons and images as a form of spiritual deception.  An article appeared in a “2004” issue of the ‘Tennessean’ telling the story of how a false picture of Jesus was used as a tool of correction for a small child.  The child was locked in the closet, by his own parents, and was told to pray to this false picture.  The child’s parents told him that he was a bad child.  He was beaten on many occasions, with what the newspaper referred to as “a 2 or 3 foot long whip like glue stick”, while an older brother was ordered to hold him.  Eventually, the abuse led to the child’s death!  This horrible act was done by people who called themselves Christians.  They were deceived by Satan – and their child paid the price for their deception!  The parents told the child he had an evil spirit and to pray to this picture so he could be set free.  One thing is clear; those with the evil spirit were the parents.  As the paper pointed out the parents were responsible for this awful crime!  However, according to the newspaper not only were the parents responsible for this awful crime, but the paper also mentioned the church with whom the parents were affiliated.  It is true that not all churches follow after Christ, but who do you think Satan is really trying to get non-Christians to point the blame at for his own evil deceptions?  Satan is using tools of deception in these last days to point the finger at the church – which is supposed to represent true Christianity.  Satan is using his deceptions against the church as a whole, and because many churches lack Biblical knowledge about their false (and so-called religious) images they have made it easy for Satan.  It is sad but Satan’s deceptions, so far, are working in both the world and the church.  The world uses our traditionally deceived churches as the model through which they fashion all Christians, and because our churches are not following God’s commandments and setting a true Godly example it goes against all Christianity.  The world sees that something is wrong in the church, which makes it look bad for the true Christians who know it too and are still being compared with it.  The incident reported in the newspaper is not an isolated incident.  People who refer to themselves as Christians, who attend church regularly are killing their children; and many of them are saying that Jesus told them to do it.  The sad thing is the unsaved world will not only point their finger at all Christianity, but due to Satan’s deceptions they will also point their finger at Jesus!  After all, people believe that the real Jesus looks like those false pictures and images and when a person says a spirit looking like the familiar pictures told them to commit awful crimes who do you think the world will blame.  People in the church, and the world, do not realize these false pictures do not really represent the real Jesus Christ.  If someone is seeing a spirit, or hearing a voice coming from these pictures and it is telling them to do these bad things many will do it.  Not realizing that it is not the real Jesus that is talking to them – but it is Satan’s deception.  The real Jesus would never tell someone to do something that goes against scripture.  Satan has been using false imagery and false visions as a part of his strategy against Christianity for a long time in his attempt to lead us towards spiritual destruction.  It is my prayer that after hearing the truth he will no longer be able to deceive people.  It is time for true Christians to throw out their idols and pick up their Bibles!  In the New Webster’s Dictionary/Roget’s Thesaurus © 1991, 1992 Ottenheimer Publishers, Inc., 1997, Landoll, Inc. Interesting to write on this topic.

As I tried to post , my computer keeps freezing up, and keeps me from even correcting my spelling.

Yes I believe that demonic spirits can play interference when trying to bring the Word of God to Light

I believe there is some confusion here regarding the spirit world.  "Familiar spirits" are spirits which are "familiar" to those who communicate with the spirit world such as mediums and shamans.  Therefore "familiar spirits" will not be in communication with Christians as such, since the Holy Spirit indwells the believer.

All evil spirits are evil angels, but not all evil angels are demons. The angels which sinned before the Flood are chained in Tartarus, awaiting their final judgment.  But there are legions of "free evil angels", and there are hierarchies of evil angels under Satan -- thrones, dominions, principalities, rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places.  Only some of these are demons which take possession of either humans or animals.
