I’m going to give a much simpler explanation for the verses: 1 John 5:6-8 6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record [in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.] 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth], the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. KJV Here’s the Greek: Iooannou A 5:6-8 6 Houtos estin ho elthoon di’ hudatos kai haimatos, Ieesous Christos, ouk en too hudati monon all’ en too hudati kai en too haimati; kai to pneuma estin to marturoun, hoti to pneuma estin hee aleetheia. 7 Hoti treis eisin hoi marturountes, 8 to pneuma kai to hudoor kai to haima, kai hoi treis eis to en eisin. UBS Greek New Testament 6 Houtos = 6 This estin = is ho = the-(one-who) elthoon = came di’ (dia) = through hudatos = water kai = and/also haimatos, = blood, Ieesous = Yeshua` (Jesus) Christos, = Messiah (Christ), ouk = not en = in too = the hudati = water monon = only all’ (alla) = but en = in too = the hudati = water kai = and/also en = in too = the haimati; = blood; kai = and/also to = the pneuma = breath/wind/spirit estin = (it)-is to = the marturoun, = witness-bearer, hoti = so-that/because to = the pneuma = breath/wind/spirit estin = is hee = the aleetheia. = truth. 7 Hoti = 7 That/So-that/Because treis = three eisin = there-are hoi = the-(ones-that) marturountes, = witness-bearers, 8 to = 8 the pneuma = breath/wind/spirit kai = and/also to = the hudoor = water kai = and/also to = the haima, = blood, kai = and/also hoi = the treis = three eis = into to = the hen = one eisin. = they-are. This is certain. Older manuscripts don’t have the words added by later manuscripts. For instance, the word “hagion” was NOT added to the word “pneuma” until much later in history. Thus, the text should NOT read “Holy Spirit” but just “spirit." The “water” is Yeshua`s physical birth - “the water broke!” The blood is Yeshua`s death, and the spirit (His breath) is the resurrection. These are the proofs of Yeshua` being a physical, living body. It doesn’t have to be more complicated than that.

Salvation is being baptized spiritually by the Holy Ghost. Physical baptism is the declaration to the world that your saved. It does seem like the water and Spirit go hand in hand. He is the sacrifice but also the living water for those who believe in Him.

The bible says those with The Holy Spirit have living water in their belly. When Jesus spoke to the woman at the well He told her whoever drank the water He had to give would not thirst anymore. And thats so true because when I pray or sing I feel that living water in my belly. Its very refreshing. Makes sense to me

Such a baffling subject really, since it lists them as separate and as a witness.

When we are reborn in new birth we pass through the water and blood shed by our Lord and Saviour. That is why it is called "New Birth". Why else would the Bible make a point of mentioning "water and blood" poured from output Saviour's side when He was pierced? That symbolism is so strongly connected. 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.' That was when He was telling Nicodemus he had to born again to see the kingdom of God.

It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: The Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.' I had thought it to be the Word at one point, because of Ephesians 5:26 where it says 'with the washing of water with the Word.' But I guess I'm wrong. The water is water baptism. 1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
