Glad you posted this Shilo, I hadn't heard about this Book-- until I heard the Christian Author Warren Smith talk about it.  I just posted his lecture in Christian Videos about  the Deception in the Church. He mentions that Book and several others. http://www.worthychristianforums.com/topic/194168-last-day-deceptions-warren-b-smith/#comment-2290148

I am really troubled by the lack of discernment in the church, today.  So  many women in churches around the US are having group devotions surrounding this book.  They have them at work or at their church or in their homes even.  Discussion groups are being formed.  It is a huge hit down here in the Bible-belt.   Very discouraging at times.

You know what? ...Shilo and Angels4U ?.....it is the same spiritual deception that EVE committed.  When I was involved in the New AGE and went to lectures it was 95% women in the audience -- Women easily deceived then bringing it back to their husbands & families. When I became a CHRISTIAN it hit me like a ton of bricks and it was a humbling revelation.

This IS why the HOLY SPIRIT through Apostle Paul said , women were NOT to have spiritual leadership. I know some women will have a problem with that but when in doubt submit to the inerrant Word of God whether your ego likes it or not. ( that's my personal slogan feel free to borrow it  :))

Davida,

You have hit the nail on the head. When women (e.g. Sarah Young, Joyce Meyer and many others) begin to present themselves as teachers of the Word, IT SHOULD BE A HUGE RED FLAG  for both men and women.  But the men have become cowardly and the women have succumbed to feminist deception, and as a result the churches are going into apostasy.  The basic problem is that the Word of God is being set aside and Christians are being encouraged to gather around books (good or bad) written by people. Many Sunday schools have also adopted this lazy philosophy, and as a result many false teachings have crept it.

Isn't that a bit sexist?

No,its not sexist at all,if that what  she is saying is unbiblical  and deceiving then its wrong right?

Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling is a phenomenon that shows no signs of slowing down. According to publisher Thomas Nelson, it “continues to grow in units sold each year since it was released [and] has surpassed 15 million copies sold.” Nelson is involved in an expansive new marketing campaign that involves a new web site and daily radio devotionals. ECPA reports that “Thomas Nelson began its partnership with the Salem Media group to provide 60-second daily messages on Eric Metaxas’ show, which is carried on more than 100 stations nationwide and worldwide on SiriusXM Radio. The Jesus Calling radio devotional reaches more than 500,000 people each day through these segments.” With 15 million copies sold, it has marched its way into rare company.

Yet it is a deeply troubling book. I am going to point out 10 serious problems with Jesus Calling in the hope that you will consider and heed these warnings.

I'm confused by the post above - it quotes shilo replying to me but there is no such reply.

I think what I said was misunderstood by whoever it was that made that reply quoted above.   I wasn't referring to the book, I was responding to Davida's generalization of women.

Isn't that a bit sexist?

The term "sexist" was coined by feminists to intimidate those who hold to the biblical view of the sexes. "Biblicist" would be more accurate.

Then how do you account for women in the bible who God spoke through?   Women whom God used as leaders of the Jewish people?  For example:

Deborah

Judge of Israel  -  Judges 4

Prophetess

Military commander

Leader

Miriam

Prophetess

Leader sent by God - one of the three leaders to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt   Micah 6:4

Huldah

Prophetess chosen by Josiah (rather than Jeremiah, Zephaniah, Nahum or Habakkuk)  when the Torah was found to determine its authenticity and instruct Josiah through interpretation of these long lost scriptures.  She authenticated, authorized the Torah's use.

And others:

Other Prophetesses:

There are ten female prophets identified in the Old and New Testaments: Miriam, Deborah, Huldah, Noadiah,  Isaiah’s wife, Anna,  and the four daughters of Philip.

I have a hard time seeing how such a generalized position regarding  women as you are taking is in keeping with being a biblicist.

There is a tendency in some denominations to not encourage people to read God's written word.  Without that anchor it is easy for either sex to be deceived.  That is how the "Toronto experience" became the newest "move of God" some 20 years ago.  But some women are more apt to look at such a book less discriminately and more emotionally.  It would be more productive to read the Bible and high light or write down passages that speak to the issues that are on one's mind.

It is true that God speaks to us in the Still Small Voice.  But those encouragements, affirmations and corrections are quite personal and not to be published.  However, the devotional "Streams in The Desert" is a classic made up of the lessons a missionary was taught while in a concentration camp.  Its character appears to be less shallow than this devotional in question.  I highly recommend it.

We need to be very clear about some things.  A prophet (or prophetess) spoke only by Divine inspiration and even the hireling prophet Balaam could not help but speak what God gave him to speak. Secondly, prophetesses were the exception, not the rule (there is not a single prophetic book by a woman).  Thirdly, Scripture is crystal clear that preaching and teaching Christians is forbidden to women (and  preaching and teaching is not the same as prophecy). Since the Church is governed by the NT, and prophecies have ceased with the book of Revelation (1 Cor 13:8-10), female pastors,  teachers, and prophetesses are in violation of Scripture.

Of course this does not please the flesh of evangelical feminists, but the Word of God stands forever. If we carefully examine the teachings of all these women (beginning with Mary Baker Eddy and Ellen G. White) in the light of Scripture, we will see error after error (just as in the case of Sarah Young). This is not to say that men cannot be false teachers, but to point out that female teachers are taboo for a reason (regardless of all the hype regarding Joyce Meyer et al.).  It all began with Eve and her willingness to be deceived.  She was a willing participant as the record shows, and that is why "Jezebel" is judged so severely (Rev 2:20-23).

While I agree wholeheartedly this book is to be avoided at all costs, I disagree with your black and white, all or nothing,  interpretation of Paul regarding women and this has nothing to do with feminism.

All women have to stop giving any feed back according to some people.

They should stop working and productive members of our society.

Stop reading, do they may accidentally read the charter, and stop their voice on politics by refusing to vote.

Since women were allowed to be active and productive members of our society this world has become a better place.

If men want to live their dream that they superior, they have to fine women of the kind of that time, or willing to be that kind.

The woman is the most bless vessel, is the vessel that God had predestine  from the beginning to enter our word,

"The seed of the woman"

The woman has no seed, even though it said "the seed of the woman", to give man no part in this blessing.

I don't have any kind words, for those who put down the one God has bless, only the following,

They can do some time traveling and go back and live at the past.

The back bone in medicine, science, and business and even politics are WOMEN.

Blessings Shiloh,,,,

Isn't this author the one that claims she has coffee with God in the morning ,with total irreverence ,,,,,as if "He" is a "he" she speaks to any kind of way?And she had a 2nd & 3rd publication that was different than the first,,,,,I heard the 1st was alluding to more Christianity & then the others were more "New Age",,,,,,,,am I thinking of the right person, didn't we talk a little about her some time ago?

Well,it is certainly a good "warning",,,,,,,I don't understand why so many people will read anything anybody says ABOUT GOD & they just won't read what HE has to say??????               Love,Kwik

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
