There are none so blind as those who can't see their own religious bigotry.

When Christians do things that can't be justified by the New Testament, they're going against their own faith, but when Muslims kill in the name of the Quran and the example of its prophet, they are following their faith.

How many people are going to understand or even believe that when the Muslims are telling us that they are peaceful....   and that the Qu'ran taught peace and toleration.

You are a catholic that has his loyalties to the Pope - I get it and I just insulted your papa so lash out.

Since when is OS2 a Catholic?  That must have escaped me.

I'm also a journalist who has seen Francis' words twisted by Catholic and non-Catholics alike for their own purposes.

And as a writer for Worthy I've also seen an increase in religious bigotry on these forums that is rooted more in politics than theology.

That's not hard to do as I was an Episcopalian for years before I returned to Catholicism.

How is that conducive to authentic, open, CHARITABLE discussion?

Putting people into boxes, especially with inflammatory insults,  is a sure fire way to ensure you never actually listen to what they have to say.

Pope Francis said Monday that fundamentalism was "a disease of all religions", including the Roman Catholic Church, but had nothing to do with God.

"Fundamentalism is always a tragedy. It is not religious, it lacks God, it is idolatrous," the Argentine pontiff told journalists on the plane during his return from a trip to Africa.

Francis said Islam was not the only religion to suffer from violent extremists, such as the ones behind the deadly attacks in Paris which were claimed by the Islamic State.

"We Catholics, we have a few, even many fundamentalists. They believe they know absolute truth and corrupt others," he said, adding: "I can say this because this is my Church".

If being a "fundamentalist"  Christian is a disease,  I pray that I am never cured.   If the Pope is against "fundamentalist" Christianity, then I throw my full support behind fundamentalist Christianity.   If he is against it, it is the right way to go.
