Meditations of a Hermit

I have no interested in spending much time with the people I meet lately as the environment I am in is mental illness/chemical dependency treatment, full of drug addicts and people whose spirits have been disabled by pride, lust, envy, laziness, gluttony, unforgiveness, and materialism.

If God will not give me friends that bring me closer to him and enlightenment, then I shall have none , and remain alone , like John the Baptist in the wilderness.

Have you ever been in a room full of dead people?
I know I have.

last week I've been on multiple city buses full of dead people, and I attend 9 groups a day during the weekdays full of the walking talking dead, and it seems what people are passionate about, the vast majority at least, is possessions, reputation, money, and physical pleasure.

The grass, the trees, the birds, the smell of nature, the rise and fall of the Sun, and the wind blowing on my face, are all instruments and remedies for getting my focus off of this kingdom of the dead that surrounds and bombards me without cease.

My Lord!

So many things I dreamed about in jail that would give me so much joy, now I have them, and my gratitude is weak.

This musr be what it feels like when people get what they want and have patiently awaited and dreamed of, only to feel emptiness.

I feel so dead.  Save me from lukewarmness and ingratitude Lord!

You seem to thrive on the negative.  Instead of looking at "dead people"  This all sounds very New Age to me which is very negative.  Is there a reason you don't look to Jesus who as the Bible says is the author and finisher of our faith.  Get out your Bible and start reading in the book of John.  Ask God to help you settle into Him, listen to Him and believe that He can and will heal you if you just let Him.

I just mean dead because the life of Christ, the life of sanctifying grace does not seem to be alive in them.

Also, having lived in psychiatric wards, group homes, jails, ghettos, and homeless shelters, I have seen a degree of death and misery that is rare for people to see, at least not as much as I have regularly , which is why my focus tends to be on the negative.

I'm trying to see God in it all

Beloved While Working My Way Through College,
For A Year And A Half I Was Privileged To Work
As A Night Man In A Napa Valley Funeral Home

Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Romans 12:15

Knowing The Bodies Were Just Empty Vessels Awaiting The Lord's Resurrection
And Knowing That Their Loved Ones Were Often In Deep Morning
I Felt It A Great Honor To Sleep With The Dead

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
John 5:25-29

And Dear One, As For All Those Dead Men Walking,

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Mark 10:25-27

With God All Things Are Possible

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

Love, Your Brother Joe

spiderman1917, I remember you from several years ago. I think it was some other Internet place. I'm sorry to hear you've been having such a hard time. Part of it is the era we're living in. You certainly do have a love for God inside you. Right now just about everyone who loves God is having a hard time. We should expect it because Jesus said that since the world hates Him they will hate us too. I see in this in my life almost everyday. I think the only days I don't see it are when I sit home all day. Somehow you will make it to heaven. God never abandons us even when we can't feel Him.

I'm glad you're still around and on a Christian board.

I"m a little shaken by the term "Somehow you will make it to Heaven".  There is only one way to Heaven and that is with a faith in God through Jesus Christ.  Jesus said " I am the way the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father but through Me".  I pray spiderman that you know Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life, because as I said that is the only way your going to Heaven.  JTC is right with one thing he said, Jesus will never leave you or forsake you.

We are commanded to condescend to men of low estate.  Whenever I get lifted up like this I know I am headed for a fall.  There have been times where I was so far above all the 'walking dead' that I felt very alone.  I would treat that loneliness with isolation for fear that the 'dead' might have their stink waift on me and I should smell like them!  Then reality kicks in and I see myself as the Pharisee that I am being and I become the publican again who cannot lift his eyes unto heaven.  Thank God for his loving kindness that sought me out, sat with me in my death and reconciled me unto him in Christ THEN sent me out to do likewise.

Peace

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
