Does A Christian Need To Speak/Pray in Tongues To Filled and Empowed With The Holy Spirit

be very careful of your writings here.....   when the pharisees told Jesus he was healing by the spirit of the devil, he told them they were blaspheming the Holy Spirit and could be condemned to hell with no alternative......     be very careful about declaring spiritual thins being of the devil.

I am claiming that it is not for us today , it was when other dialects were out and they needed to get the word out in there own native tongue, and so today i believe this to be not what the bible says  , and so we twist what the bible says to justify what I believe is against what God in tended, so this is fair and is my own opinion,

Well let me put it this way.....  I do have a prayer tongue and I didn't ask for it. and it is used just as the Bible speaks of it.....   never in public because it is between me and God, and since some times it comes without my control and it is always to help others in emergencies in those cases who do you think is behind it..... So do you think it and I are of the devil?   Or do you think that I am some kind of sorcerer who can sense what others are doing a thousand miles away and need help...   I really would like to know what you think.

so tell me can you interpret your own tongue as you speak, and what does it do for you and how does this work,

 if  you say you have this gift, I have to say , I do not agree, simply for I do not believe in it, but of course, this is my own opinion., and I will not publically ever try to be rude or judge, only love my fellow brother and sisters, '

 so if you believe you have this gift, more power to you , I have my own understanding and way that I think that, is not like many , its because, I am just me,

Since there are many Charismatic believers on Worthy I have learned not to debate tongues.

As I said earlier I was  filled with the Spirit when I was born again...the Holy Spirit sealed me...I sought the Baptizm of the Spirit many years later and spoke in tounges I use this gift  when I am lead in my private prayer time I have a Pentcostal  background and am greatful for all the Lord has done in my life ....I believe in all 9 gifts  and 9 fruits and the  5 fould ministry...ALL scripture is written for our growth  love to you all Maggie

I DON'T speak in tongues.  I did, however, provide you with Scripture to show that the gift is given to some and it is NOT of the devil.  Did you not read the passages I posted?  I'm not even sure what you mean by a 'babel possession'.

I think you have your Scripture messed up here.  Languages were confused at the Tower of Babel as a punishment from God.  The people couldn't communicate with each other because they were left speaking different languages.  This is not the same as speaking in tongues.  Please read the Bible concerning this. See below:

Genesis 11:1-9

2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
