I personally think it is blasphemy to present God other than how HE presents HIMSELF in the Bible.

Yes, it is blasphemy but many in our world do not care.

This is all part of what started as the Emergent Church.  Today, it is more of the progressive Christianity culture.   They both are designed to remove from scripture what they do not see relevant.  I skimmed the book and will not watch the movie either.  How I relate to God is found in scripture.

God is God. He is not male or female. But he made man in his image. So the image of God is male. Does not mean God has a sex. It does mean he cannot be portray as a female. The shack is trying to twist God's image.

Do you have any idea what this particular Scripture teaches? Ways and thought of God?  men may be willing to forgive if it does not cost them much, and they can see that such is to their advantage; but God gave the most precious gift of heaven that He might have a basis of forgiveness for all His enemies.

God redeems on the basis of personal suffering and having substituted Himself to he punished instead of His enemies. God forgives by every One whom men sought to destroy, the One mad to endure the most horrible suffering ever laid upon a human being. He blesses by faith in the blood atonement and death of an innocent Person.

Man would have punished the guilty and satisfied justice; but God punished the innocent to justify the guilty In fact the whole program of reconciling enemies to God is on such a high level that men never could have planned it.

I'll probably watch it. But I'll wait until it comes to Red Box and rent it for $1.50. Not a movie I would spend $12.50 a ticket on that is for sure.

I had the book in my house maybe 2 years ago , started reading it but I couldn't finish it, it is 100 % New Age. As a Christian,  you cannot compromise your faith by enjoying  reading this book or by watching the movie at least I couldn't do it~~~

My advice, stay away from the book and the movie, it's another tool of the enemy to deceive more people into a different doctrine~~

I got to say I'm very disappointed that any Christians would support this Movie - Period.  Christians should be BOYCOTTING this garbage.

I am not sure boycotting really works. Boycotting would only work if it put a huge, huge dent into the revenue being brought it. Hollywood would look at it as a small little blip on the revenue coming in and they would just shrug their shoulders and turn the other way. Hollywood didn't make this film for Christians plain and simple. It is a Hollywood movie created for whoever wanted to watch it.

For me it will be a gateway to discuss theology with fellow Christians. I know that many Christians will watch this movie and think it is wonderful. I would rather watch the movie and be on the same plane as the other person.

This is just how I look at it. I know that others will disagree and some will agree. But I do believe that this film is not in line with scripture and needs to be challenged.

I know what it is about , I am intimately familiar with these New Age teachings. My advice to avoid or boycott is not to do them harm at the box office , it is so it does not do yourself harm.

2Cor6:14 "....for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion hath light with darkness?"

Davida thanks for the clarification and the encouragement. However I do not fear or believe that this movie will change my faith or cause me to stumble in it. As a matter of fact I have a guy here at work who is going to watch it. He is a Christian but I sometimes think he is a bit wishy washy. We have discussed some stuff before when we both read the book "Heaven is for Real". I didn't agree with anything in the book but I gave it a very fair reading and then we discussed it. I was able to present scripture to him and we were able to discuss what our disagreements and agreements were.

As I said before it is how you look at the film and what your purpose is watching it. If you are going to go and watch it for spiritual growth and encouragement then yes I totally agree stay away. I would say that person isn't strong enough in their walk with God. As for me I have a whole other purpose of watching the film. When I come out of that film it will not change my faith one iota. But it will be a great tool in the belt for good discussions with other believers (like my co-worker). Just some thoughts. But I totally respect your viewpoint and will not try to convince you or anyone else to watch the film that believes they shouldn't.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
