No it is not.  Both are altered states of your mind in which you  are no longer in control of yourself, and the Holy Spirit is no longer able to influence you or your actions

In the type of buzz sure. Once I was saved any time I would fall to the temptation when that warm smell would be passed my way I experienced the flip side of the mellow buzz. All I would want to do is not be buzzed anymore and talk myself through it.  Whole new weed experience and I just didn't like my head being like that.

When I'm sitting around with family or friends with no responsibility I'm fine to have a beer but ambition is what's sacrificed. I don't really care about anything when I get a little beer buzz and weed makes me paraniod. So I'm blessed in that way, I stay away.

My best friend was a weedaholic and a car jacking/near death experience got him on prescription mind drugs, injury got him into prescription pain meds and more injury into oxy and eventually he couldn't see his value as a person and sank into a hole where "the world will be better without me, I'm no use or good to humanity." He eventually shut off communication and a month later we all got the call. Sad stuff. He wasn't a smoker but now and then he would bum a hit off of someone just to get a buzz. He liked the buzz from anything almost and willies he would call them off  mixes of meds.

We are not in our right minds when we are high off weed or drunk off drink. No matter what we think, we are idiots, we just don't know it. When an alchoholic is able to see how much of an idiot he is to himself, others and the ones he loves it's actually the day he walks away from the booze. And many times they see it because of the Holy Spirit. They either repent and ask Jesus to be Lord or they find a bar stool and become worse. We never stay the same, it's better or worse.

These things grab us and keep us from being who we are and what we can be. It's actually a selfish titilation to chase a buzz and has nothing to do with anything else. "Seekers of pleasure rather than seekers of God" So be selfish and prideful and light it up. But ask God what He thinks. Our opinions are but opinions. Hearing from God is much different.

Of course drugs are not stronger than God, but God is not a puppet master, He will let you make your own choices.  If you choose to let a drug control you vice listening to the Holy Spirit, God will not stop you.

I smoked pot for a long time for about twenty years, and drank alcohol, mostly beers and smoked cigarettes.   In the Caribbean, the pot is natural and potent.  I liked my habits before i was saved, but the two cannot mix, just like you cannot serve God and mammon.   This body is the temple of God and nothing that alters the natural state should be allowed to enter, except for medical reasons.   I have not touched any of the stuffed i used since i am born again and does not miss one aspect of it.  Yes the memories of some having so called good times with friends are still there, and while it is entertaining, it was foolish.

As  a recovering drug addict, my humble advice would be to stay away from those who uses for a while, until your body adjust to the naturally.   Then with the power of the Holy Spirit, you will resist every temptation that will come to draw you back into the same old.  You will then be able to sit with your friends and be a testimony to Jesus Christ.

I'm a recovering drug addict/schitzophrenic. I love Jesus. I don't sleep around or look at porn but I do still smoke pot from time to time. I don't really see a problem with it but what do you think?

Problem? Sure there is a problem! The problem is being discussed and debated over across much of the USA! Legal - illegal, and what can be done anyway ,because  it is hard to arrest and confine everyone involved. New laws, new concepts, are being tried at various States. But to date all use of Pot is illegal at the entirety  of the USA  as it is against federal USA law.

On a practical level; it is  a product sold by gangs that kill people  in order to control their market. That is a serious problem. The gangs are enriched and enabled by the consumers of their products.

So as a consumer of pot one is participating in an illegal enterprise. One that involves murder of adults and children.  So problem? Yes there is a problem,.  You are evidently still part of it. For, you already say  you are recovering from other  illegal drug use, yet you don't see a problem, in  just switching products being used. PROBLEM!  It is the problem, for you, and for the community that you live in,  the most serious problem any community faces, as the consumer/user enriches and enables murderers that traffic in the pot and all illegal products. They are gang members, they are illegals, they are killers if need be, in order to control their market.

 Yep there is a problem.

There is also  the solution. Prayer, reading the Bible, thinking, and more prayer plus  action taken to abruptly change from sin against God to living Godly instead. It can be done by God's mercy and will over  each of us it can be done.

May many pray for your full  abrupt recovery; May you be given the strength and the mercy  from our creator via the Holy Spirit to  truly overcome your weakness to sin against God. The sin of  using substances that take you away from full awareness of the joy of life that  is in service to our lord Jesus. May you find peace without drugging yourself in any way. Amen.

Any substance that in anyway alters your actions or thought process is not good even if legal. Slowing reaction time when doing any task or driving while under the influence. But, the greatest harm is when you do smoke, a new Christian or an unsaved person sees you smoking and thinks it is OK, thus ruining your witness of a godly Christian life. They being weaker do not stop at one but try other drugs letting Satan have his way in their lives and mind and soul.

Scripture then....

Scripture

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8 (American King James Version)

Then

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. Matthew 24:42 (New International Version)

~

Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27 (King James Bible)

Love, Your Brother Joe

~

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalms 119:160 (King James Bible)

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.

Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully.  It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.

It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

More scripture:

Romans 12:1-2 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."

Addictions are tough to overcome, some more than others.  The goal is to be like Christ.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
