Why is it most people, when you advice them they take it as judgement?

Ahh, because it seldom is advice, it is instead judgement? And it is mean spirited and self aggrandizing all at the same time?

Advice is unsolicited criticism, counsel is invited guidance mutually sought out. Let me give you some advice is not the statement of a friend that has my best interests at heart. It is a threat and a putdown all rolled into one!

A kinder person, a friend might say; if you see a problem here as I think I might, may we both seek the counsel of our LORD together? Will you consider joining me in prayer, and reading the word of God, plus the hard task the thinking and study of it with a goal to find good application for us in it? And if we reach a conclusion that is similar might we then work to hold each other accountable lifting each other up before God in prayers as we do?

The advice givers, they are  rampant, and ever busy but seldom doing much of anything that results in  advancing the Gospel of Jesus, nor glorifying God before an unsaved world. Yet they never seem to care either, nor do they ever seem to see that God is already at work upon me and others too.

They just jump in and do what God is too slow to do in their mind's eye. They speed up the mixer, they turn the oven up full,  and they end up with nothing for their efforts except tarry bitters. That and evidently a sense of self satisfaction that at least they  are better, and they tried to make others as good as them.

But hey, that is just my perspective. If there is an issue of concern might we look at the word of God, pray together, and see if we are led  by the Holy Spirit to a common understanding in which we may hold each other accountable through encouragement  and through praising our creator as we share of our common faith in the Gospel of Jesus?

It is a tough place this world, but our Lord is coming again. Maranatha.

Advice becomes criticism when it is uninvited or unasked for. When a person is looking for and wants another person's opinion it becomes advice. But even in giving out asked for advice great tact is needed so that the advice does not become criticism. Advice that accuses or condemns the person asking for advice is not going to be well received and anything spoken after that will be taken as condemnation.

Because "most people" are not forgiven, and are continuing in sin, willingly, resisting God's Grace.

They already chose to remain in the darkness (if they don't like judgment or criticism) , because their deeds are dark,

and when the light (Jesus) comes close,  they don't like it.

Jesus said "Rejoice when people get mad, even furious with true judgment and criticism, = it means the truth is too close for comfort." (and their conscience is still salvageable or alive/ active/  so they might be saved, forgiven or redeemed of the sin they haven't repented of)

I agree with all of you.
It is the Lord that convicts (or as Smith Wigglesworth put it, makes us CONVINCED of SIN).

However, the devil and his buddies love it when we 'convict' each other without really knowing who we are, or at what stage in the journey we have reached.

A soft answer turns away wrath generally, but I have noted that some take a soft answer as 'capitulating' to their view and then further hammering you with their 'logic'.

In my mind, and it is just me, if humility is apparent, I will tend to listen.
The other point is that we are not talking just amongst ourselves. There is a whole world of witnesses out there that may or may not be discouraged by our words and the way we treat each other.

Words have consequences. Some of them may have eternal consequences.

And that right there is an example of what is NOT the way to advise anyone.  No hearts or minds will be changed by judgmental comments such as this.  You assume 'most people' are not up to your standards and 'most people' will simply tune you out.  You are not encouraging to those seeking, jeff.

What do you suppose this means?
Does it apply to us?

Isiah 3:

2As for My people, a babe is their master,
And women rule over them.
O My people, they that lead thee cause thee to err,
And destroy the way of thy paths.

13The LORD standeth up to plead.
And standeth to judge the peoples.

It all depends on how you present the advice. Some people will be on the defense and some people will take it graciously.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
