I believe baby boomers where all born between 1946 and 1964 officially..

If he was born in 1972 that would see his as part of the X generation..

Baby Boomers: Born 1946-1964 (54-72 years old)

Generation X: Born 1965-1980 (38-53 years old)

Millennials: Born 1981-1996 (22-37 years old)

Post-Millennials: Born 1997-Present (0-21 years old)

Let's not forget "The Greatest Generation" (???? - 1945).

Well you could be a "war baby", WWII - pre boomers. We didn't even know of such designations. We just grew and worked and had babies, and worked some more.  We grew up before Dr. Salk's grand formulation of a polio vaccine. Iron lung wards were a very real terror for many. We grew up in the days when there were TB hospital wards and quarantine notices at peoples homes because of diseases. Absolutely amazing changes- Now many adults never even leave their parents homes, they just sit and stagnate, complaining they can't make friends and they can't own the latest video gaming equipment.  All quite bizarre. From times of many facing  hard deaths to times of many not wanting to participate in real life enough to get out on their own and do it..

Hi.

I think the greatest generation, from the book of the same name, was the generation of my parents and were all born around 1918 to 1923 kind of a half generation that turned 18 to 25 and entered military service for WWII  after Dec 7 1941. Their children  are the war babies ( Of which I am one). My own toddler days were spent at Pensacola, Wright Field  US Naval Aviation housing. I have family photos from that time showing Cadets tossing me in the air in a circle having a grand time with their fighter pilot trainer's  kid.

I'm just going through family archives as I am now the old Patriarch of the  family taking on the keeping of the records of our  history something I had little interest in until now.  Holding onto  an old pocket watch of a great great grand father or a flight log from WWII cadet training does link me with my  parents and ancesters in a manner I never grasped until now.

I share just in case there are any out there that still have opportunity to gain knowledge of their family- might go ahead and do it while  it can still be done.

Anyway back to the market street. I used to be around there on occasion back in 1962.- Attended a small "college" facility in the shadow of Los Angeles General Hospital. We would wander around to the beer brewery (Brew 102), and various parks in the entire area.

There is hope.  My grandson was of the stagnate/video game ilk till just recently.   He is like his dad and needed the right motivation.  His dad required he pay for his own auto insurance so he got a part time job at a theater while in college.  Then he found his dream car, an electric hybrid, and got a full time job as a maintenance person at an apartment complex as well.  So he is working two jobs now and over a 70 hour week.  Next if he is on Que, like his dad he will decide he wants to get paid more than minimum wage and go back to college.

Yes, several of my friends had polio and now have post polio syndrome.  My husband tested positive for TB antibodies as well since his mother had to have a lung removed and spent a year or so in a sanitarium.  Their house was also quarantined when his sister had polio.

I think I will start a thread on first apartments/ houses in the over 50s forum.

Another nice, family event held at Olvera Street each year is the Blessing of the Animals.   It's held the Saturday before Easter.   I have gone several times since I am an animal lover.   Besides many dogs, cats, birds, snakes, rabbits, there are also several horses with Mexican cowboys doing rope tricks, cow, and some other farm animals.  Some people dress their pets up.... Chihuahuas with mini-sombreros and scarfs are cute!   I've even seen an Iguana dressed with a sombrero and colorful Mexican scarf!

In the Historic State Park, where Los Angeles was founded, there is historic Olvera Street.  It's a tourist attraction with old original buildings, now shops with Mexican handcrafts and little cafes.   It has a wonderful family atmosphere.

At the entrance to Olvera Street, there is a large wooden cross which was hand-carved.   Also, at Christmas, a life-sized Nativity scene is placed in the center of the Plaza.  Also, at the first church founded in Los Angeles, across from the Plaza, there is a smaller Nativity scene with a few live animals.  Also, at Christmas for several days, there is a procession Los Posados, in Olvera Street showing Mary and Joseph's journey seeking a room at the inn.

I always find it interesting that the State Park allows the Cross, the life-sized Nativity scene and the procession telling of Mary and Joseph's journey.   Of course, I am very glad of that since many such things have been banned in other government owned places.

This and the chain of Missions that go up along the west coast could (if they do not) display this on a historic basis alone.

Later monuments like the cross on Mount Soledad in San Diego are the ones that just might someday have problems remaining.

A peaceful place, BTW.

Our founding fathers in America were wise not to make Christianity the official faith of the nation (putting the burden of keeping it a

Christian nation on Christians via evangelism and lifestyle).

But unfortunately, we've done very poorly.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
