What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where He was before? 'It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."' (John 6:61-63) Praise God! * This verse has been enormously important to me over the last few months. Spoken by the Lord, to his disciples, when they were disquieted by his words to them concerning 'eating' and 'drinking' of Him. He takes His own flesh out of the equation by saying, 'What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where He was before,' (what then?) - ie., He would not be around to eat and drink of would He? No. He says, 'the flesh counts for nothing' (ie., it doesn't figure in this), 'it is the spirit that quickeneth': 'the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life'. Yes, by hearing and believing His Words, and inwardly digesting them, His disciples would be eating and drinking of Him, and thereby being energised by life, spiritual life. Praise His Holy Name!
