Hiya,

We've been out in the garden, doing gardening. I've been using the strimmer.

If you have a wild garden, be careful of "Hogweed".

https://www.healthline.com/health/hogweed-burns#how-it-causes-burns

When you cut it down, or strim it, green liquid flies out, and if it hits your skin, wash it off straight away. Or better than that, be more sensible than me, and use a long sleeve shirt. Because it causes burns.

I have blisters and bubbles on my arms today. To be fair, I didn't think any had landed on me, but obviously it did.

Fortunately I have some steroid cream, and that's the best thing to use for it, according to my Doctor.

Just thought I'd post this on here in case anyone has these things in their garden. I've heard of some people who have ended up in hospital with these burns, so do be careful if you're gardening.

Hope you are all having a lovely day.

Chat later all.

Becky.

@Rebecca Pickles Thank you for your warning. It is thoughtful of you to try to prevent others from incurring these burns.

From the photo you'd never know how nasty hogweed could actually be. The only thing that causes welts here in California are nettles. You have to make direct close contact with them though. I fell in a patch of them once as a young boy. Not pleasant. Hope you get to feeling better soon, Becky. God bless.

P.S. We also have poison oak, which can be pretty severe if one has an allergy to them.

Shalom,

David/BeauJangles

Don't take an axe  to an old century plant in California like I once did. Wow burns and a nasty rash for days!

Hi David,

Yes, nettles are nasty as well. I bet that was dreadful when you fell into a patch of them. I've never done that, and hope I don't ever do. I'm really careful that I don't lose my balance when I'm strimming, as that wouldn't be fun.

Poison oak very nasty too.

Thanks for the well wishes and God bless you too.

Becky.
