The usage and definition of repentance or repent isn't just limited to “i'm sorry” or “having remorse” . It can also mean “to turn from a sinful life and turn to God” or “to “change your mind and attitude in regards to sin”. Its one of those words, that has multiple meanings depending on the context.

God commanded us to turn from sinful lives and turn to him. He also commanded us to believe upon His Son. When we do not, we are disobeying His commands. He is our creator, and Sovereign over all. He is not obligated to bend to our wishes. And the difference between our offenses against Him and offenses against each other.

Not forgiving each other is NOT an option because Jesus commanded us to forgive one another without measure. We are ALL guilty of offending another human for one reason or another . Our forgiving one another is NOT dependent upon whether the guilty party is sorry or not. We are still told to do it. If we do not, God will not do the same for us. Forgiving the offenders isn't so much as for his/her benefit as it is for our own. If someone offends you, forgiveness is for YOUR benefit, not the other way around. First you are doing what God commanded us to do. The next reason is that it keeps bitterness and resentment and hatred for the other person or offense from taking root in you. These three things can rob you of your joy and WILL have an effect on your walk with the Lord.

Matthew 18:35 "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."
Mark 11: 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

Matthew 6:14, 15 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Proverbs 19: 11 A person's wisdom yields patience; it is to one's glory to overlook an offense.

Ephesians 4:26 "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,

1 Peter 3: 8,9 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

Would you mind having another look at this sentence as it doesn't make sense.

Those who say we 'Must' forgive when there is no repentantance, are like the pharasees who demanded that the jews do far more than God did.

God only forgives those who repent. That is all we are expected to do.

When there is repentance, then like God our forgiveness is unlimited.

You are misunderstanding what is being said on here.

People are posting that Christians 'must' forgive. Which is not true.

What they must do is show the love of God, that does not require forgiveness.

Our purpose in life is to develop God's love and character. When we forgive others, irregardless of their attitude or “if” they say they are sorry or they do not say they are sorry; we are reflecting God's love and character when we do it anyway. If a person says he/she is sorry it is absolutely necessary to forgive. But other scriptures show us that we must forgive even when the guilty party does not say they are sorry. The thing of it is that the wrongs committed against us by another person does not even compare to the offenses we have committed against God.

Except God does not forgive anyone who does not repent and as I have said we hand those who hurt/offend us but will not or cannot repent over to God for him to deal with and we pray for them.

We are to 'Forgive as the Lord forgave you, on your repentance.

Maybe this will explain it a little better...,

Jesus on the Cross asked His Father to forgive them, ...who is them, ...it's not only those that were responsible for His arrest, torture and Crucifixion, but since the purpose of His death on the Cross was to pay the ransom price of all the sins of humanity, them includes all of humanity, and that includes me!

Father would never demand us to do something He Himself would never do, that means even though all of humanity's sins has been paid for there is still a personal obligation for each and every human to ask to be forgiven, salvation is not universalism for everyone, it must be a personal, one-on-one transaction between man and God.

So then, as Spirit filled, born again, adopted children of God we are being conformed into the image of Christ, ...the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of Christ, which is the Spirit of Life (Zoe), which is being manifested in and through our lives, ...and since Christ asked our Father to forgive us approximately 2,000 years ago, ...before we asked to be forgiven, ...then to show our progress in being conformed into Christ's image we too forgive those that have hurt or wronged us, ...please notice we forgive them from our hearts before Father, ...that doesn't release them from their responsibility of coming to us and asking to be forgiven anymore than Jesus' prayer to Father released us from coming before Him in submission and humility and asking Him to forgive us.

If our forgiveness is sincere, from our hearts, then like our dear sister Maryjane has said, we will have a peace, ...that's doesn't mean there will be reconciliation like so many preach today which is actually nothing more than tolerance of people in their sin.

Lord bless

In the case of the unbeliever Forgivness does not equate to being unequally yoked .     We simply pray they are forgiven no matter what they do unto us .

Forgive all who even hate you , persecute you ,  rail on you .   And if even the man who hates you most and would desire your death ,  ever is without and has need

YOU FEED THEM .     For if you do good unto those who love you ONLY where is your reward ,  EVEN SINNERS can love those who love them .

If you brother or brethren does sin against you ,  THEN you tell him his fault between you and him .   IF he repent you forgive him .

REBUKE the brethren and if they repent You shall forgive them .    Till a brother or sister repents of evil , THEY must be separated out .    Paul knew that too .

And we are to be unequally yoked with none .   But forgiveness must come and would come from all whose hearts have been changed .

For take memory and take heart ,    WE were forgiven of a mountain of wicked against man and GOD , and yet for THE SAKE OF CHRIST ALONE we are forgiven .

Yes we need to grow to be like God.

God does Not forgive those who do not repent.

As I have said repeatedly, repentance is through the whole OT. The Jews would understand that they needed to repent before there could be forgiveness.

Try reading the account in Luke about repentance and forgiveness.

Remember, just how does God forgive you or me?

It is only on our repentance.

Some great Law teaching there .....After the Cross when that “ weak” law died  ( which was a good thing, because it had no power to save anybody) we became saved by hearing and believing Paul’s Gospel given to him by Jesus......no  adding to it.....even with good stuff like Repentance ......if one goes from not believing the Gospel to believing the Gospel He has undergone the “ change of mind” type of Repentance that God demands. That will get The Holy Spirit in a person and then we will automatically repent when we do wrong— NOT that one- time Repentance That got you saved. The on -going , perhaps daily repentance of wrong- doing and guilt restores a temporary strained relationship. It’s a part of the Sanctification process that make you more like Jesus— that being the ultimate point that God will get you to.Dont confuse the different types of repentance if you want to a avoid  needless trouble .God bless

Oops.......sorry.....I get carried away sometimes

The forgiveness thing is easy.....We forgive others because WE have been saved......Under Law it was a Salvation Issue.....We are under Grace, forgiven by Believing the Gospel in 1cor15:1-4.....Forgiving is a fruit of the Spirit.....It does not save, nor does  it keep you saved.....only The Blood does that...

You might call it great teaching, I call it basic Christianity.

Forgiveness is never easy, for many people admitting they were wrong, saying sorry is very very hard.

Yet we are commanded to be forgiving. Note not to forgive. We like God forgive when an offend repents and then like God our forgiveness is unlimited.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
