Ascent of Human Knowledge

In the history of the ascent of human knowledge there has always been four
stages in the assimilation of paradigm changing events.  The first is always
hysterical and derisive laughter.  The second is vituperative condemnation
and absurd fault finding.  The third is quiet acceptance.  And the fourth is
always effusive accolades of genius attributed to the discoverers.  That's
the nature of the world.  That's human nature.

I don't mean to intentionally pick apart the topic or comment here, but where in the world are you getting this stuff anyway? No offense meant, it's just a little odd and unconventional. Are you into existentialism or something like it?

Sir,

There are two kinds of knowledge: the knowledge of God, and the knowledge of man. Hopefully---mostly---I hope I have on my heart the knowledge of God; other times, the knowledge of man. Why are you so opposed to people being "a little odd and unconventional"? Jesus was the greatest radical of all time. Who would have thought, for instance, that the longest chapter in the Bible was the Woman at the Well? Do you suppose that then, where women had no say in the affairs of men, that it was incredibly radical that Jesus was there, talking with one---much less alone with her during that time---and especially with a woman who was with so many men? Many found him to be not merely a little odd and unconventional, but extremely so, and I do not mind being associated with the One who is.

Again, no offense meant. I can be somewhat eccentric myself at times. But this makes absolutely no relevant sense whatsoever. It's all a bunch of philosophical jargon and lofty terminology. Just saying. Carry on, I guess.

Begging your pardon, but Jesus was and is Christ Messiah, Son of God, Saviour. Not a radical as you surmise.   Alright then, I'm out. Have a good one. God bless.

And in between somewhere is Fear. Fear of what is behind those "paradigm changing events" and how they might negatively affect life as we know it. Perhaps the laughter is as much a Freudian way of dealing with the fear as it is true derision.

Here I thought the topic title was going to be about how and who alchemy, metallurgy, cosmetics, etc. got started in the ancient world. Boy was I confounded...
