Hi everyone! Over the summer, I started  having some pretty weird thoughts.  The thoughts are quite disturbing: I have thoughts saying that 'God has commanded me to stab out my eyes to save the world from sin' or' my lie would be so much better if I self mutilate and hurt myself. Now, I know NOT to hurt myself, and I'm trying my best to stay positive. I've been seeing a therapist and taking medication, as well as praying every night, but the thoughts still come back. These last couple of months at school have been extremely difficult, as these 'thoughts' have taken a  toll on my physical health as well.  A few nights ago I even had a dream where I heard a voice, presumably from God, that it was his will and command that I should stab my eyes out to save the world; that got me really scared. I go to a christian fellowship group at school, but I'm way too scared to share my struggles with anyone there because I'm afraid they might label me as 'crazy'. Have any of you experienced these thoughts or know anything about psychosis. Further, would God in any case ever command someone to hurt themselves? Thank you for taking the time to answer my question, I think that I'm ready to give up at this point.

Shalom RosanneSmith,

Welcome to Worthy Christian Forums. Please feel free to browse around and get to know everyone. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.  As soon as you post a few times and after they are approved, it'll tell us that you are "real" person and not a "bot", you'll be free to post throughout our forums and join our chat rooms.  Forgive us for this minor inconvenience, however, we've had issues in the past with Spammers!

This is a short tutorial video of how to get started with Worthy Christian Forums.

As soon as you get out of Newbie status, you'll be able to add your profile picture.

You may be interested in reading how WCF functions, and how the forums are set up, and other neat tricks to the forums.  Read our insights into WCF.

Let me share a little bit of my vision for the ministry in a parable.

Let's say I'm throwing a big party and am inviting the world to the party (the forums) and I want everyone to have a great time, eating (reading through posts being fed), drinking (being encouraged to walk in His Word), and having fellowship with one another.  In Israel, we have Shabbat meals -- and whenever you have 2 Jews -- you have 3 opinions -- it's GREAT to be opinionated.  I encourage discussions ... but during our Shabbat meals ... we never ever get to the point in disagreements whereby food is being tossed and seriously yelling takes place!  And if someone comes into the meal ... and starts throwing food ... and yells at everyone -- what do you suppose the head of the Shabbat meal will do?  He'll escort those causing problems out of the house!  Why?  Because the whole reason for the gathering was to learn from one another ... to have a great time of fellowship!

Some people like to constantly throw food and yell ... they won't last on Worthy ... because they missed the point of the party ... it's a prequel to the true party -- the Lamb's Supper!

All I'm trying to provide is a place to allow true fellowship ... and discussions in love ... in the hopes it will be a catalyst for true REVIVAL based on REPENTANCE!

I hope you have a blessed time at Worthy!

Hi Roseanne and welcome!   This is the welcome area but I asked that your topic be moved to the help/question area so more might see it.

Of course, God never wants you to harm yourself or others.   Keep reading the Bible, pray....also, I hope you have a good church where the people are supportive of you.   Hearing the Word of God preached in a sound way will also be of benefit to your mind.   I'm glad you are getting some help, hopefully it's a Christian therapist.

Don't give up, God will help you.

This must be so scary. This is not from the Lord. Don't listen to that voice.  You need to talk to someone you trust about this.  I WOULD talk to the Lord and pray in Jesus name. I would need to talk to my pastor and if you are not better a doctor.

Welcome to Worthy.

Praying for you right now

Roseanne,

These thoughts are not of God and God would never command you to hurt yourself.  Since these thoughts first starting appearing in the summer, I think you need to go back to that time and think on what triggered them? Were you under more stress in school or any family or life changes?  Is your Therapist treating you for OCD? I'm just wondering as having repeating negative thoughts can be one of the symptoms. I think the more you try to suppress these thoughts the more they will pop up. Talk about them at your Christian group or continue to get support at Worthy. Know that your thoughts are just thoughts and give them God. He can give you the means to conquer them.

I struggle with intrusive thoughts and OCD too. Not really the kind were a harmful voice is impersonating God, but I think I have. I had a voice in my head tell me if I told my pastor about my OCD problems I would be condemned and that I was doomed to fall away. Also you obviously can't save the world from sin no matter what you do. Only Jesus can save from sin. And even if its just to lead people to Jesus how would stabbing your eyes out lead people to Jesus? It's just OCD.

We are all body, soul, spirit.

The human soul (psyche) is a pipeline to the devil.

Beware of it!

This is where all kinds of evil "pops into our heads" from.

When it is as intense as you say, I believe you might need

professional help to train your mind to reject these thoughts, impressions, etc.

God bless you!

Its good you go to a christian fellowship, but you should speak to whoever leads that group, they are assigned to help you on your spiritual journey.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
