In the light of Jesus teaching on the summon on the mount .be as the Father in heaven over coming evil with good, praying for your enemies, causing the rain to fall of the just and the unjust

Blessed are the merciful

Blessed are the pure in heart

Blessed are the peace makers

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake.

But I say unto to you love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

You can't shoot your enemy dead and yet pray for him or his family sincerely and effectively afterwards

The apostle taught that vengeance belongs to the Lord therefore we should not take revenge but leave the final judgement to God.

Mat5 KJV

For if ye love them which love you, what  reward have ye?  Do not even the publican so?

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your heavenly Father which is in heaven is perfect

Good question.  Myself, I don't believe Jesus makes a rule/law about certain things.  Perfecting and maturing in the faith doesn't come overnight but takes time to grow in the Lord.  Someone joining the military or police with a clear conscience when they are young, may find as they go along that their conscience begins to trouble them about certain things that their job requires, or that the Lord may arrange circumstances or lead them to lay down their career at some point since we must forsake everything to follow Christ.  People can adhere outwardly to rules/laws, but the bible says without FAITH it is impossible to please God, and that whatsoever is not of FAITH is sin.  So it seems to me that there are circumstances when it is God's wisdom to let people have time and freedom in the Lord to learn and grow in Him.

Should christians join the police force, army, navy, ect

For the purpose of spreading the gospel, the Lord will utilize ALL means in doing so. Some will feel a call to serve in a capacity in these areas in order to get the Word out. If He does this with certain individuals, we are not to stand in a deciding factor for anyone but our own selves concerning personal servitude and commitment for the Cross of Christ.

I interpreted your post wrong. I thought you were talking about the rioting. I think if a person wants to be a police man and fight for justice in our world much prayer should go into this.Ask God if that is His plan for your life. A person needs to ask themselve why they would want to become a policeman or go into the armed forces and be honest. They need to have the right Christian reason.

Much thoughtful prayer should be consider. If God is guiding you towards this path, then it is right for you to do.  We need Christian police officers, and Christian soldiers.  Police do more than just shoot people dead. They are called to protect and serve. Finding lost children is one thing they do. The same with soldiers.  A soldier has many duties that so not always mean shooting someone dead.  The National Guard for example come to aid in times of desisters. They hand out food, water and medical supplies.  Many other branches of the military do the same.  It isn't all about shooting people.

I agree with this, and to add a bit to it, when any given profession suffers from a lack of devoted Christians who will stand up against corruption it tends to allow that corruption to thrive.

Everywhere is a field ripe with a harvest to bring the message of Christ---whether it be on a beautiful, green golf course, in a prison in Communist Russia, or on a battlefield in Kuwait. Many times God enjoined nations to fight for their land and many who fought bravely died. It is our motive---what is the heart of a man why he does what he does. We go where God sends us, though being human is not always easy.

You are correct. However, one thing to consider is, when you join the military, you are to obey their commands. So if a command comes to you tht violates your God conscience, what so you do? If you obey it anyway, you have disobeyed the spirit within you. If you stick to God's leading, you will get court martialed and thrown in prison.

Do you suspect there were Christians in the German army who little by little saw their hearts hardened until they did unspeakable things?

Just something to think about.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
