Not against mad crack dudes..

We let our angels deal with their demons. A knife is not going to stop a crack dude. You would still be better off with pepper spray. I have big containers you can wear on your belt if your that paranoid. Maybe the little keychain size is not going to give you a sense of security. You can always use the pepper spray designed to stop 800 pound bears. That is even more effective than a gun. It takes a pretty high caliber gun to stop a bear that big if she thinks she is defending her cub. Reminds me of the stories of people in a war that get their arm blown off and they keep on fighting with all the adrenaline in their system.

So i was thinking about a list of self defense items for when i move by myself. Just wondering how much is too much.

So here is my list--

In addition to having a dog and alarm.

I want to get pepper spray/mace, a taser, a little necklace that alert authorities ( i can see myself wearing this when Im out with my baby alone as he is an arm baby)

And ofc a gun...but a small one.

This isnt too much is it?

I ran it by my friend and he said its good to take precaution

I am not sure any of us can answer these questions without knowing you better on a peraonal level and where you are going to move to....   and whether or not this is protection for home or out in public..      Dogs are good alarms but need special training to protect you....   and those animals I personally don't trust with small children..   home alarm should be manditory along with security cameras and a dvr for recording...   get these things as you can afford them.
Pepper spray is good for stopping someone while you run away but is not likely to make an intruder leave your home and leave you alone, and as several have said against wound up druggies is basically just going to make them angry....   maybe they would kill you a little quicker that way.

Guns are a good thing and they are a disaster depending on your personal makeup and how much you want to practice....   for it to be of help in defense you must have already decided to kill the person or thing that is attacking you....   you must be accurate and not hesitant an any way of taking his/her life.   It is common knowledge in self protection circles that if you let a person with a knife within ten feet of you you can't stop him/her from killing you if you are using a gun...   it just doesn't happen.   that's why the police shoot a lot of people.

So without knowing you better and where you are moving to I would recommend you find a good self defense class and talk one on one with a professional to get some idea of the best way of defending yourself and your family.  It is different between different people.   If you are not comfortable taking someone's life don't buy a gun for protection;  most likely you will get hurt or die by it..   my personal rule is that if I ever touch my weapon for security one of us is going to die....   decision already made.....    and you never touch that weapon until you make that decision...    and lets face it...   very few instances would warrant that....

One little lesson I learned in my first class was that if someone is attacking you with a gun you stand a better chance of survival by taking his/her gun away from them and shooting them with their own gun than try and draw yours unless you are already shooting at them....

It doesn't matter if the gun is small, medium, or large.  They shoot real bullets - very LOUDLY - and kill/harm people.

They are expensive - even the small ones, bullets are expensive, and practice at the rifle range costs money.  If you have no experience with guns and just buy one....if an intruder came into your home, he would more than likely wrangle it away from you and harm you and/or you baby.

There has to be gun safety courses available, rifle ranges where you can practice with a rented gun for the day, or someone to teach you about guns and safety.

Do all of that before you purchase a gun.

All depends where you live. My daughter lives on her own quite safely without any of these things - but she's in a different country from you!

How big is the risk you are running? Try to assess this objectively. Look up the crime rate for your neighbourhood. Sometimes taking too many precautions actually makes you worse off. E.g. people often forget to factor in the risks of owning a gun (accidental injury).

Im pretty sure ill be safe. Im not planning to live in the projects or a halfway house. Whereever i go will be safe all of this is for my own peace of mind. As I said before, Im a small lady and Ill have a son and be on my own so Id be such an easy target and I just dont want to give anyone a chance.

Check the crime stats where you are going to live, speak to the crime prevention officer at the police station or get advice from your insurance company.

Having quality locks on the doors and windows. A personal alarm that you can easily reach should be all you need.

If you are getting a gun go the whole way and get trained and qualified to Cary a concealed weapon, otherwise don't touch a gun.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
