Well this is what it says in the link I found about it.  When we asked Don Felder about the term, he said: "The colitas is a plant that grows in the desert that blooms at night, and it has this kind of pungent, almost funky smell. Don Henley came up with a lot of the lyrics for that song, and he came up with colitas."

In spanish you have a differentiation between sexes with the use of an o for male, and a for female. There is a female inflection with the a in Colitas vs. Colitios.

Hotel California is a secular song by the Eagles I am quite fond of, as I am of the artists Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmidt, Joe Walsh and Don Felder.  Interviews with the members of the Eagles it was important when they reformed that they would be clean and sober.  This resulted with the "Hell Freezes Over" album and as far as I know, Joe Walsh is still clean and sober.  Heaven rejoices when a lost soul finds the path back to Him.  I hope Joe Walsh completes the journey.  The reformed Eagles include Deacon Frey and Vince Gill after the death of Glenn Frey.  Don Felder is still fired from the Eagles.

I've known a number of them and remained outside their circles of incantations. None harmed me but some have attempted it. When they discovered Jesus with angelic power and might provided protection against their powers, they respectfully stepped aside.

I've also known a couple of self-acclaimed satanists, but they weren't truly serious. I was told by a person who knew of their practices. He told me they had come to the point of blood letting to give their souls to the devil, then backed out at the last moment.
