Ah in the Bible the Heart is the Intellect.

Exodus 35:5
Gather special gifts for the Lord. Each of you should decide in your heart what you will give. And then you should bring that gift to the Lord. Bring gold, silver, and bronze;

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

Deuteronomy 7:17
The Lord Promises to Help His People
“Don’t say in your heart, ‘These nations are stronger than we are. How can we force them out?’

Matthew 3:2
John said, “Change your hearts and lives, because God’s kingdom is now very near.”

Romans 2:15
They show that in their hearts they know what is right and wrong, the same as the law commands, and their consciences agree. Sometimes their thoughts tell them that they have done wrong, and this makes them guilty. And sometimes their thoughts tell them that they have done right, and this makes them not guilty.

Romans 10:9
If you openly say, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from death, you will be saved.

1 Corinthians 4:5
So don’t judge anyone now. The time for judging will be when the Lord comes. He will shine light on everything that is now hidden in darkness. He will make known the secret purposes of our hearts. Then the praise each person should get will come from God.

1 Corinthians 7:37
But another man might be more sure in his mind. There may be no need for marriage, so he is free to do what he wants. If he has decided in his own heart not to marry his fiancée, he is doing the right thing.

There are 286 verses that shows thinking was associated with one's heart, not our brains.

If the scriptures gave us life and the Pharisees possessed those scriptures, why did the Lord say, "But you do not have His word abiding in you"?

Because they took that Word and twisted it to their own understanding... They thought just because they were of the physical line of Abraham that they were saved. They thought this world was God's promised land and they built all hope upon it... YET they had clear indicators from God's Word that it would not be
Isa 65:17

17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
KJV
So they didn't have God's Word in them but one of their own making...

You cannot convolute the truth and still have truth... so when God's says
2 Tim 3:15-17

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
KJV

It is the same people are doing now of this generation as they build upon things God is not keeping~ supposing He is.... like some believe the kingdom of God is of this present age here on earth- yet God specifically tells us He rules in perfect light and there is no darkness in Him at all
1 John 1:5

5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
KJV

How then could this world be His Kingdom when we are told this
Eph 6:12

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
KJV

The Scripture says only one truth but if it is twisted it is no longer what the Scripture says... as God said
2 Peter 3:16-18

16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Greetings,

It is interesting how you mention intellect and a person’s heart, I remember before my born again experience I struggled at school with concepts and could not understand principals and this was carried over to my adult life.

I believe people with intellectual disabilities have an IQ under 70, Forest Gumps IQ was 75 and my IQ test is about 73.

This is pretty accurate and I was comfortable and confident socially but had little to minimum academic ability what soever.

Then the day I got born again my born again encounter was the day when God took all my weaknesses and turned them onto my strengths and at the time I had no idea.

It only become evident when I went out and started sharing the good news, that it was through the word of God that I become discipled and educated and by God’s grace I was able to understand concepts principals and became articulated in my communication and interactions with others.

God bestowed his grace and gift upon my life, and granted me the academic and intellectual ability to understand information and yet my IQ is still 73 and I am so grateful to God that he had mercy on me.

As for the heart I was off to the pub that night and when I picked up my brother from the airport and dropped him off at his home, he shared the good news with us and I reluctantly accepted because I had an ulterior motive to go to heaven in case, I died at the pub that night and instead had a radical born again encounter which again by Gods mercy changed my life forever.

My intentions and motives were selfish and yet God still embraced me with all my transgressions so I can only testify that the goodness of God does lead us to repentance.

Peace

He is indeed living and powerful (Jesus - the living Word).  He is not the Bible.

Heb. 4:10-14 (MKJV)

10 For he who has entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from His.

11 Therefore let us labor to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of unbelief.
12 For the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
14 Since then we have a great High Priest who has passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

You mean Jesus isn't paper and ink :o common on! No one claimed such! However the Bible is God's written Word and it is all that is necessary for the Christian

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
