What to do with the ideas which come into our mind?

There are many transgressions when someone speaks:

•    Pro 10:19 -> “When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.”.

Therefore:

•    Pv 17:27 -> “Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. ”.

So:

•    Jas 1:19 -> “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;”

“For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.” (Jas 3:2).

Thereby:

•    Pro 15:28 -> “The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.”.
•    Pro 16:32 -> “Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”.
•    Ecc 9:17 -> “The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools.”.

So, have a good day holding your peace, unless Jesus says the opposite. May the Creator do with us as He did with Ezekiah and as He planned on doing with Moses (Exodus 4:12; Ezekiel 3:26,27).

Moreover, keep in mind that:

•    Jas 3:18 -> “And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”.

I think on them. Actually I over think, sorta OCD..
Since discovering the scripture verse, I have begun taking them captive, more and more.

2 Corinthians 10:5
"We are
destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ"

"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ"

"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ"

2 Corinthians 10:4
The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

I am still asking anybody/everybody where do the thoughts originate?
Does the devil have access? Scripture says he is the father of lies. How does he lie to me?
Can he read my mind and plant a thought that corresponds to what I am currently thinking?
Can not find scripture how I am  influenced by the devil. My sins are my sins.   Can't/don't blame the devil.
Scripture says in
Ephesians 6:16
"Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to    quench all the fiery darts of the wicked"
What are the fiery darts. Doubt? vs faith. Is it I that doubt, or doubt put in my mind by..... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ?

I personally can not think of one of my sins that I know that was caused by the devil. Can you? Think on that.

Just what do you mean by ideas/thoughts tht come into our minds?

Please be clearer as you can cause great harm with poorly addressed ideas.

Example those who suffer from intrusive thoughts can be really confused or lead to believe all sorts of lies by intrisive thoughts that they try to argue or supress when all that needs to be done with them is simply acknowledge them and move on.

Intrusive thoughts often accuse suffers of not being a Chhristian, of being a sinner beyond redemption, of lacking in love etc etc etc

The site 25 tips for successfully treating your OCD has in point 4 the advice to acknowledge such thourghts and movr on.

You said; "Just what do you mean by ideas/thoughts tht come into our minds?"

To me, our minds are just  'like' a computer, connected to inputs ( taste touch sight and sound, ideas dialog reactions etc, and thoughts) and then through outputs (action-voice/speech movement anger love sadness joy etc, and more thoughts). This mind (of mine) is constantly processing all this data that comes in and reacts (or not) through some kind of a reaction. Through events in my life during those formative years (of programming my hard drive mind-( and everybody else) I have learned (been 'self' programmed) to process data and re process data more than 'normal', due to  early on dysfunctional programming, creating dysfunctional 'coping mechanisms' that became "me". Like working out, and exercising  the physical body muscles to a healthy and tuned up, I try to do the same with my 'mental' health, according as I have learned, by how God tells me through His word.
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;   Ephesians 4:23
"bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ"

Science says the human mind processes anywhere from 6,000 - 50,000 thoughts per day. I don't actually know, myself.
So taking every thought captive could get a little weary, you reckon.

"For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him?   But we have the mind of Christ"  1 Corinthians 2:16

I do not agree with step (4) on your suggested "25 steps-OCD" that says "agree with your thoughts" and "do not care, or argue with them." I can understand how he can help people who do not Trust in God and His way of dealing with thoughts by bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

When I receive a thought, I ask my self, does the thought align with the word, Yes/no, and if no,  I say to myself its sin (missing God's standard).
Then I move on immediately (nano seconds) and not morph over it. I have 'programmed reprogrammed a pre existing bit of faulty data (corrupted/evil)and replaced (reinforced) the truth of God's word. I do this as often as I can to align my thoughts to God's word.         ("Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" ), a biggie!

You said; "Please be clearer as you can cause great harm with poorly addressed ideas"

I don't know how I could have made it any clearer. But the gist of my post actually addressed the question; Where does sinful thoughts come from, myself (my mind), the devil, the virus in my inherited corrupted hard drive,  (sin-nature)???
Can the devil "cause" me to sin? (NO!)
Can the devil tempt me to sin? The bible says he is a roaring lion seeking to devour.
HOW!!!???
Can he plant thoughts in my mind?
If so, how?
Can he read my thoughts to plant a temptation relating to my thoughts, or not.
As I said, I do not know of one sin the devil has ever "caused" me to commit.

I personally believe that using the word of God supersedes a secular U-Tube clinical social worker, however good he may be.
If it works for you I'm glad for you.
God, the word,  has delivered me from so much of my corrupted thinking (and ocd).
Of all the sin I commit, 99.99% of it started in my mind! So, I think it's sorta important what God says about dealing with it.

Not I, but Christ in me!  The mind of Christ. The word. Renewed. New creature. Yahooooo.......:)

Perhaps a key here is where Paul admonishes us to pray unceasingly. This attitude of looking toward the Lord becomes a habit over time. A part of who we are perhaps.

Looking away unto Jesus, the author of our salvation.

I have used an analogy for many years that helps with this topic. I think of birds landing in branches. The birds are critters of the air and the branches of the tree are our minds. There are all kinds of birds (thoughts in the air of this earth) and we have a choice (with God's help and Grace), to either let those birds stay in the branches or we shoo them off and prevent them from taking up residence.

When a thought that I do not want comes around, I look to the Lord and literally tell Him that I woud rather have Him. The bird leaves and I have peace, know His Grace and Mercy.

Most of the time this is simple and fleeting. Sometimes it is more protracted. That is usually when I entertain a bird and let it set awhile.

We learn over time what is good for us and what isn't. This is the Grace of the Lord and our sanctification.

Sorry, that comment was aimmed at thr ogrinal poster, not at you.

If you find your method works ok, but please remember that intrusive thoughts are a known problem for OCD suffers as well as non OCD suffers, they are not automaticly a spiritual problem.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
