I could probably live on a bag of rice for a week. Beans and rice which I actually like.

If going extreme cheap, I would buy dried beans instead of canned ones since they cost less.

And for the under 30 crowd.Go eat with mom and dad :)

Beans and rice will give you if I'm not mistaken the right amount of protein..

I hear you there. A bag of frozen vegetables can also add some extra body to it. I picked up an instant pot a few years ago and the speed it can cook beans makes the canned ones pretty obsolete IMO.

Since I am married I tend to go to more effort on meals. I want to make her a nice meal. If I were single though, I could see myself making a big batch of rice, beans and maybe a vegetable and living off of it as my main food for a week.

How to live frugal and sharing tips what you do to save money...

Fifty yrs ago I married my sweetheart, and her credit cards. A few yrs later we cut them up and quit any/all credit/debt. A no brainer. We cut them up and became a cash only family that began using the cookie jar principal, income went into the cookie jar, removed money when needed. An empty cookie jar helps tremendously to discipline spending. You can't. No money in jar, no spending. It worked.

Have been debt free for decades, though we did acquire  debit cards to pay bills gas groceries etc. NO credit. No interest. No debt. We taught our home schooled children to stay out of debt was a priority.

Our children did not receive an allowance. They learned to work for their own money. Daughters raised birds, and learned (with their own capitalistic minds) that selective breeding for the rare colors and hand feeding to tame, would bring double the selling price to wholesalers. My son would buy cheap broken motorcycles and sell the parts and stuff on ebay.

They hesitated to buy with their own hard earned money for those expensive popular sneakers or leather jackets etc. But we showed them they could find the same items, used but like new, at the flea marts and family thrift or Salvation army Goodwill etc, cheap. They became frugal (cheap) like their dad.
The idea of wearing used clothes was superseded by their desire to keep more of their hard earned money. My wife and I still go to those places up till the covid shut down.

My parents/grandparents went through the "Great Depression', and I inherited the blessing/curse of not throwing anything away. My trade in construction has allowed (enabled my compulsion disorder :))  me to acquire a mass of lumber, hardware windows doors cabinets plumbing and electrical inventory. Everybody thinks I have over done my excess storage, (we live on 30 acres), but they also know where to go to get supplies for free. I pass on any need from my excess of blessings.

Concerning food, and the fears/worries about the future.

I wonder what I will do when a poor family shows up at our door, begging for a little food for their children? Even if I stored up more than I might need, I know there will be others in need coming. So I give to get...tenfold, and trust!

But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?  1 John 3:17

I would think everyone here would help those in need, for sure. But I think what would be of great importance the gospel, the he Word, by mouth or written.
I have been hording bibles and bible promise books and tracts I find at used book stores, thrift stores, ebay etc, as there are always bibles for sale cheap, because nobody buys them.

Just with the covid era I have had so many opportunities to share the gospel and hand out bibles and promise books and tracts. If things continue to worsen my wife and I believe we have been blessed with a full life and how cool to finish off with the sowing of the seed, and the love of our savior to those in desperate need of hope, and the good news. Isn't this at least one of the purposes of this forum?
We also have concerns for sure, but like the covid threat we dealt with, we decided we're not going to let fear to control decisions, and press on how the spirit leads.

who takes delight in his journey.

Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed,

for the LORD is holding his hand.

I once was young and now am old,

or their children begging for bread.

They are ever generous and quick to lend,

and their children are a blessing"

and in the days of famine they will be satisfied.

Exactly what my cousin and I did when we were lived together in my old trailer house I bought back in the late sixties in Houston Texas.  We bought a bunch of hamburger meat by the lb and froze it, and for supper I would take a frozen lb out and throw it in an old skillet with the flames on high, throw in a sliced up onion, chili powder and after the froze thawed/burned out, add a large can of ranch style beans. Let it simmer, stir, till one of us remembered it's cooking and divide it in half and  get the loaf of bread and feast.

Frozen hamburger/beans/bread was our staple. Would vary it with peanut butter sandwiches, or fried bologna sandwiches, and semi frozen bottled coke.

Eating out would be someone going to the Jack in the Box and picking up a few dozen of those worthless greasy tacos (two for a dollar) with the awesome "Secrete Sauce" and we would stuff our faces watching the girls go swimming at the pool. (Where I met my future bride)

I still have one small pot from back then, and it is the only kitchen cookery I am allowed to use. My wife is an excellent cook, Hungarian, she really enjoys cooking, and she says she doesn't go in my shop and use my tools, so don't mess with hers in the kitchen.
(I have burnt too many of her  pans forgetting to turn down/off the fire:unsure: )
(I mounted a large sign for her above the stove.

Its very easy and cheap to make a good soup or stew or chili that is nutrient filled. These types of foods are also healthy in terms of digestion and maximizing the bodies use of the good stuff.

Various beens, legumes, veggies, meats, water and healthy herbs and spices.

We just wrapped up a large batch made before the new year day. We have a new ham bone from Resurretion day to make a new one.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
