Dennis,I like my Bibles the best and love to write notes and underline words or sentences or chapters ,I write sometimes explanations on notes and stick them in my Bible ,you just never know when all of a sudden the Internet is gone,I'm very old-fashioned that way LOL. I like to read and listen to video's and often have my Bible right beside me for the underlining or notes ,call me old fashion hahaha...

On the other hand,I hope that someday the Lord will maybe use my Bibles when I'm not here anymore as a testimony to our children that their Mom loved the Lord...

I have all of technology available. Multiple University courses and several books from the History Club . My primary church Bible has tabs on each book, so I can immediately find a  book and go along with the pulpit. That Bible is worst than George Washington's Bible that had writing all over it. My writing is in every space in almost every book.

Our Chief Financial Officer came into my office one afternoon and apologized for looking at my bookcase and all the books on religion. He was especially interested in Moses and Herod. He is Jewish, I told him to take what he wanted to read. He balked then I explained. "We have the same God. You have the same heroes until we enter the New Testament. Everything you see on the bookshelf, I've already read. I finish one book per round trip flight. making 26 flights a year ... that means there are 26 new books covering a myriad of topics. Then he was interested in why I read so much. "Living in Japan for four years, we had no American Television. I graduated High School with no television. A Friday or Saturday night not on a date or gathering, I read and listened to Armed Forces Radio." "I am comfortable with a book in my hands." Then laughed and said "It's extremely hard to find "The Shadow Knows" or "Roy Rogers Show" or "Jack Benny" anymore on the radio in the US.

I use Bibles, laptops, iPads, computer, whatever’s handy wherever I am. :)

Same! I have the bible in print which I love reading when I'm at home during those quiet times. I have my laptop when I'm sitting at my desk and here at work, there's my handy dandy new fangled phone which I take everywhere.

Of course, the scriptures are uploaded on it all.

This phone is pretty cool. It has a neat-o pen 🖊 that I can use to highlight things with. I can even use it to write on the screen and it turns that writing into text. No more fat fingers fumbling with a tiny keyboard. :emot-headphones:

Well, kwik, I’m surprised; you must be behind the times. Everyone knows if it is on the Internet, it must be true. LoL.

No, I do not trust Google. It is a known fact they manipulate their search engine to prioritize what they want you to find. I am not tech-savvy either but I am trying to learn. A day soon is coming when all financial transactions will have to be made electronically, and my smartphone and computer are more intelligent than I am. The big push is now in progress to do everything electronically, save a stamp and a tree.

I have hard copies of many computer resources, as I briefly mentioned above. I have never run across anything I was suspicious about or reliability to verify with a hard copy. That is not to say it has not or will not happen.

They made a movie starring me some years ago, “Dumb and Dumber.” The role of Dumb was already cast, so which part do you think I was cast for? I need all the help and resources I can manage for my studies.

I am never concerned about going off-topic, and it takes more discipline not to branch off like a family genealogy tree than I can muster. For most topics, you have to change direction to other applicable and relevant things.

Honesty, reputation, history, and reliability go a long way in the book of Dennis, 2nd Opinions. Other than God's inerrant, infallible word, there will be mistakes, errors, differences in theology and interpretation, etc., in everything we read and study.

Blessings Brother,

If anyone else wrote the op & started this Topic I seriously doubt I would have stuck my 2 cents in! I can always count on you for a pleasant conversation- youre a really nice guy Dennis❤

Yep, I know that movie- youre hysterically funny- rofl!!!

And far from a dummy:emot-hug:

Spiritual discernment, I believe, is the most important bible study skill a Christian can have, and it is a gift from the good LORD above.  We’re not easily fooled or deceived.

I use a variety of trustworthy internet commentaries, such as Matthew Henry and others, in addition to my beloved bibles.  If you've studied and have a pretty good understanding of God's Word and know what you're searching for, there's a wealth of excellent Bible study resources available.  As a result, I feel myself exceedingly blessed to have such valuable tools at my disposal.      …selah

One of the last steps in the hermeneutic process is taking the whole council of God (Genesis-Revelation) and checking to see if theological concept fits within that scope... I have seen many errors with peoples reasoning because they didn't observe this important step... The Scripture is a unity one truth, one way, one life. I am glad of the digital means of study for it is definitely an aid in the process of 'study to show thyself approved' responsibility placed upon each of us...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
