Regarding the fire that comes out of the mouth of the two witnesses.  So, I lean toward it being literal speaking when Rev. says fire will come out their mouth and devours their enemies.  Either way, they have power to punish evil doers using the words of their mouth, similar to the prophet Elijah and Moses.  Remember how Elijah the Prophet called down fire from heaven and it killed the prophets of Baal, also had the power to cause sever drought and famine.  Also, Moses had the power to cause many plagues and turn water into blood.  Many believe the two witness in last days will be the Prophet Elijah and Moses, because the same miracles performed by Elijah and Moses are being performed by the two witnesses.

And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. - Rev 11:5-6 KJV

I think it would be cool to meet them

We know that our God is not into reincarnation.

I think if you say a person has the same spirit ( not talking Holy Spirit, although both will be filled by the Holy Spirit)  but like John the Baptism, Jesus said he was Elijah, and that Elijah would come again.

I believe John the Baptist and Elijah are two separate people, but cut from the same cloth.

Its how i see the 2 Witnesses (in the likeness of Elijah and Moses)

We know Moses died.

I really believe the fire being spoken of is God's Word.

If it isnt literal fire they shall be killed earlier before 1260 days of their mission.

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a noise like a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, distributing themselves, and a tongue rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with different tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out. (Acts 2:1-4 NASB)

That sort of surprised me to see, since I tend to think of the NASB was pretty literal.

"And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, distributing themselves, and a tongue rested on each one of them.

That is the more literal. No point to be made, just an observation, might have to watch the NASB for carefully than I thought I needed to!

I do too. I think it is a metaphor like the following verse:

Revelation 1:16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. [emphasis added]

Most likely they will be literally consumed with the power granted them with God's word. I used to fish a lot, so opening up a can of worms is nothing new for me. Who do you suspect might be the two witnesses? Our Lord is a legalist, keeping in mind the biblical "legal" definition of what a witness is and how many are required. Did they personally witness the Old Testament, the New Testament period, or both?

Luke 24:4 (KJV) And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

It does not say, but who were these two men, Moses, Elijah, Enoch, or unnamed heavenly angels? Did they personally witness the resurrection of Jesus, and everything He did walking the earth? Why not Peter, James, and John? They witnessed more miracles than the rest of the apostles.

Before that at Jesus's Transfiguration, Moses and Elijah were present. How did Jesus's inner circle of Peter, James, and John know who they were? Could it be: 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Why were Moses and Elijah selected at the Transfiguration, and what were they discussing? Most probably Jesus's death, burial, and resurrection, but why?

Finally, what about the "two witnesses" being representative of the Old Testament Saints and New Testament Saints [Patriarchs | Church]?

There is a lot of controversy and argument for any answer.  Got worms, LOL...

After reading and thinking about what you are saying. What comes to mind is a correlation between when Jesus is talking to the Pharisees after telling a man that his sins have been forgiven.

" Jesus said to the paralytic, courage my child your sins are forgiven. And some of the scribes said to themselves this man is blaspheming. Knowing what was said in their minds Jesus said, why do you have such Wicked thoughts in your hearts now which of these is easier to say, your sins are forgiven, or to say, get up and walk."

The correlation that I see here is going from the spiritual to the physical. That the Forgiveness of sins is a spiritual thing but the healing is a physical thing

So too when we talk about the word of God coming from the witnesses it is a spiritual thing and then becoming fire being the physical thing

I think Mexican hot sauce must in some way be involved......:whistling:

Going back to serious mode. I don't believe it's literal, although when I think of literal fire coming for someone's mouth I think of the Leviathan in Job. I really believe God made creatures that could spew fire. Gassy bad breath? I don't know. The stories of dragons spewing fire probably has some grain of truth to it. When circus performers spew fire the fire is not in their mouths. It ignites outside of the mouth. If a creature gets the right mix and a spark.......

In other biblical references we have several metaphorical instances of thing's coming from mouths. The words of the Lord created the heavens and earth. He SPOKE these things into existence.

In looking at the end times, the Lord will eliminate all evil at the end with His mouth.

Isaiah 55:11 “So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My Mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”.Sep 30, 2018

Revelation 19:21: “And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.”

Some of these texts can be odd on the surface, at least for English speaking people. No one has swords coming from their mouths, however the word of the Lord is referred to as a sword, and by His word all things are commanded making what comes from His mouth a very potent thing indeed.

My belief is the fire coming from the prophet's mouths is likely the power given to them to command certain power to destroy those opposed to them.  Words/commands>Fire>power>destruction.

I was ploughing through Revelations last night, when i started reading about the Two Witnesses. When i read, fire will come from thier mouths. I laughed (fire breathing dragons, i thought)

What is that supposed to mean? Anyone?

The two witnesses in Revelation have miraculous powers given to them by God and no one will be able to stop them. Fire coming from their mouth can be taken literally. The Bible doesn't say who they are.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
