For a clearer understanding, which specific verses are you referring to?  And which might indicate it would be wrong to use them?

The best way to start arguments is to criticize someone favorite sort of music.......... :)

Using harps and trumpets he told Israel to use them.

Have you seen the inside structure of a piano? To me, it looks like a harp. Of course, it is different. But you can play the keys like you play the strings of a harp, or somewhat like it.

I have been told that Jews have trumpets which are made from horns of animals. They are not brass. I suppose the animals could have been sacrificed, which could have been representative of the sacrifice of Jesus. And a trumpet can be for proclaiming and celebrating the victory we have with the LORD. And we have victory because of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. So, I see how using a sacrificed animal's horn to celebrate victory might be connected to celebrating the victory we have by means of Jesus sacrificed for us, on the cross.

But what if you use some instrument named in the Bible but it has no meaning for you, about Jesus??

A guitar could symbolize how we have harmony in Christ > a guitar has different strings but they together can produce a harmony.

David could play for Saul and the evil spirit would depart from Saul.

What is the spiritual effect?

Are we feeling good about ourselves, using music in a self-serving, self-congratulating way? Or, are we getting more intimate with Jesus and loving one another and caring about enemies the way Jesus has us be all-loving in sharing with Him?

It can be a trick, maybe, how ones are calling attention to instruments, and arguing about them, instead of first being attentive to Jesus and evaluating ourselves in comparison with Him.

Yes, there can be people, then, who say they don't use instruments, and they can congratulate themselves in comparison to ones who do use instruments.

"For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." (2 Corinthians 10:12)

A guitar would be considered a string instrument.

Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. - Psa 150:4

"Yahweh [is here] to save me; So we will play my songs on stringed instruments All [the] days of our life at the house of Yahweh." - Isa 38:20

OK so it sounds like some churches don't go by what the Bible says and they just do their own thing instead

WE are living in a time of MANY FALSE TEACHERS AND DOCTRINES. Many of those who CALL THEMSELVES sheep today, are actually wolves.  That doesn't make TRUE CHRISTIANS the problem so why put to task the true church to EXPLAIN all the contradictions taking place in the world today, rather than seek them out to further your wisdom and knowledge of what is written?  Even if the 'big mansion' (remember we are ONE BODY with many members so no one getting their own mansion) isn't what is important and 'just getting there' is, why not just walk in the direction that results in rewards?   It's your time, why not make it productive...Why labor and not get paid?

So, is what the churches of today are doing or not doing your real question?

You as a Christian had to have HEARD the words of God and BY THEM came to FAITH and THEN been converted, correct?  I only ask because

there are those that had someone tell them some things and convinced them that if they did and said some things they would be 'eternally saved' and all their sins were paid for forever and/or since 'Jesus did it perfectly' they didn't have to worry about it themselves and/or just believe not worry about judgment because the Holy Spirit works in us and/or any works they would do would just show lack of faith proving they were trying to work for their own salvation by working to keep the gift etc...

for them the truth is/remains without HEARING THE WORDS OF GOD, one remains without the wisdom and knowledge of GODS TRUTH and without HIS TRUTH there is no coming to faith.

Anyway, I ask as a Christian what are your beliefs about these verses?  because some of the questions suggest some of these verses may have been missed.

Romans 14

1Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

2For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

4Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

7For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

8For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

9For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

15But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

16Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

21It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

22Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

and always good to keep in mind

1Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you

8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Ask the question what he told us to play and we can use in music ?

I can think of 12 instruments Israel used to worship the lord. I don't know of one instrument that's lol sorry of the devil. Use it to glorify God

Yes there is at least one The Church Of Christ. Their reasoning  is somewhat convoluted in my opinion, but then opinions don't matter do they. That group finds an absence of information within the New Covenant on musical instruments, therefore they conclude  no musical instruments at all may be used.

I always found it funny that  to start the congregation out in worship song the leader would sound a pitch pipe, an instrument. They had many rules regarding singing too,  no solos etc. Seemed silly to me, however they were also some of the most diligent of saints, an extremely caring of one another group.

There is an endless number of "what about this and what about that?"  one may come up with. Those are mere distractions. Some individuals even have a" ministry of distraction", doing a bit of a dance, never surrendering self to Jesus, and never actually reading,  praying about, nor thinking upon, the word of God the Bible.

Many say dancing along with the gospel music is wrong yet King David did so. Advancements in technology has come a long way as far as musical instruments are concerned. I think God loves any form of worship so long as its worship to him I love many worship songs. I get kinda bored listening to just the piano and the old time songs not that they are not good but I guess we have evolved over the years.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
