There been talk that AT&T want get landline phones in SO CAL there was out cry getting there in certain cities they going try too

Interesting except that AT&T advertises " land lines" here in Florida  and yet all they're doing is selling you wifi phone service that plugs into a modem - they're happy to dig up your property to run fiber optics too, they just made an entire mess of our parking lot for elevator emergency "phones"......I sure wish they'd stop false advertising but Comcast does it as well

I remember back in 2006 when Southern Bell ( Bell South Corp) was bought out by AT&T for $86billion....pay phones had already been disappearing but no one really noticed becsuse of cell phones- suddenly AT&T was pushing hard to install their modems for wireless " land lines" - what a scam,I remember asking for my land line back which suddenly was no longer available after I tried tried them out and realized what they were doing to eliminate traditional phone service that was far less profitable

I'm not even sure anyone could use the old lines underground with all the legal actions made by the Dept of Justice against AT&T since the 70s which lead to the Bell Systems fall....such a shame

So,I believe only AT& T would be able to use the Bell infrastructures-Id hate having to use them but I would if it meant an actual land line, can't get one in Florida thanks to AT & T..... 😪

I just remembered @ladypeartree said her phone or computer wasn't working.    She took it to a repair place.    They told her she had a lot of updates...she hadn't been updating things.

So I wonder if not updating can create a problem?

apparently if it goes too long without updating it stops working ...took about an hour to load all the updates I had missed ( and yes it was my phone as my computer updates automatically even if I dont want it to )

I've always wondered who were the main culprits behind getting rid of phone booths, even though im sure it was most likely something mutually agreed upon among the major phone companies/carriers but am still very suspicious that the federal govt also played a part in it, but maybe someone else could shed some light on this because it's always been kind of a mystery and something no one ever seems to talk about or even wonder about?

It became obvious I think in 2003 with the more popular cell phones that pay phones were on the way out.The Bell System was already broken up into regional smaller Bell Companies since the 80's becsuse of AT& T merger & acquisition- so you started seeing pay phones by AT& T replacing Bell name

Between the break up of Bell, popularity of cell phones & Anti trust actions against AT&T pay phones were simply unprofitable, same reason for the discontinuation of land lines..AT&T changed the entire landscape of telecommunications in the USA simply for profit & gain....a bit different than Alexander Graham Bells dream of bringing people closer together & improve the lives of others

AT&T wanted to get rid of landlines in California.   However, I don't think the FCC allowed them to do that.   So far anyhow.

@Alive You mentioned having an old Motorola cell phone.   I've only had a cell phone for 15 months.    So please excuse my simple questions.

I got a Motorola G Play cell phone.    Since I only use it for phone calls, do I need to buy a new cell phone when the storage for updates gets full?    Just curious.

Are all cell phones that connect to the Internet a smartphone?

Since you only use your cell phone for phone calls your not likely to ever use up your storage!

Photos, files, emails (data) takes up space in storage  & you can always make more space by getting rid of old emails in trash, spam, blurry photos,etc....

My guess is you'll not need to buy a new phone unless your phone stops working for some reason💗"Hello Moto" lol

Actually the updates use up more and more storage.   When I first got the cellphone 15 months ago, the storage was at about 44%.   Now the storage is at 55%.

The updates are on all sorts of bloatware...apps I don't use but they are apps one cannot uninstall.

I did uninstall a few apps that one could uninstall.

You can transfer those old update files to an SD card- alot of update files are also temporary so try clearing caches as well

I understand your Moto phone tells you many apps cannot be un-installed but they can..... I don't know who your service provider is but typically they are really helpful and can either clean up your storage for you or show you how.....I'm really not sure why your phone is updating so much but seems it's a Moto thing( maybe to sell phones?)Im not using Motorola anymore, too many issues and the last update they did totally screwed up my phone- after them replacing 3times I reluctantly went over to Samsung

LG was the best Android,I was really disappointed when they stopped making phones

15 months to be 44% full seems absurd for someone who only makes calls.... my phone is 4yrs old and I take tons of photos, emails etc but no videos( they use way too much storage)& have very few apps- my phone is half full but I clean out my storage often when it gets over 50%....the guys at Metro do it for me,lol- even things you delete stay stored unless you remove " deleted " data.... crazy!

You post a ton of videos,is it through the phone or a computer?I just can't imagine being so full in such a short time from just updates- you should call Motorola,I have to say they have excellent customer service

I'm the least tech savvy person so I'm always in the Metro store- my storage is always getting used from photos,I'll probably put a few years back on a card or drive- it's just too many

I hate technology- it's like a job you didn't apply for!

No, when I got the phone brand new the storage was at about 44%.    Now 15 months later, it's at about 55%....due to updates.

I clean the cache regularly on each app.

I have never used an SD card.

I use my tablet for coming on the Internet.

@other one  or anyone.   Do you know what "compress file" means?    There is that option on a lot of apps.

If they are like other phones, no you shouldn't need to get another one for updates.  Updates just overwrite what's on the phone.

Yes, phones that connect to the internet are smart phones. I use my old Galaxy S6 by using my home Wi-Fi to connect.

@Debp there is your answer. Thanks @other one

Compressing files makes them easier to transfer, send or share ' the smaller the file the faster it uploads & is received- it also takes up less room in storage if you're keeping it

For one website I am on( the animal one) I often have to compress a file to big to share or sending through SMS or RCS.....

Do you like using a tablet for WCF? My computer has been broken for months & using the phone is driving me nuts

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
