There is/was a weekly youth outreach in my area that featured pool, air hockey, fooseball, and video games. They included 'Halo 2' to one of the video game systems, which I personally felt wasn't the greatest idea. I think the way these youth events can feature any of the 'Halo' games is to keep the game on the multi-player mode. :whistling:

And OneLight, regarding your comment, there are some individuals (not churches....I hope) that are doing something similar and that's all I'll say about that.

My son plays video games but there is a good reason that he's only allowed to play specific ones. The Halo games are not one of them.

high how are you i also play video games and so does my son and i am our churches out reach worker and work close with troubled youth and have heard of churches doing this as i played halo one and halo two on the x box my self and my son has his own x box

i left a post hear on a new game that is made to reach out to the youth it is called left behind and its based on the serious created by tim latlya and Jerry jenkins

i will be buying the full game it is for pc use only you can not play this on a playstation 3 or x box as i will be also buying this for my 10 yr old boy hear is the web sight www.eternalforces.com

those guys should not be using a secular game to reach out to the younger youth that spend most of their time playing video games they should be trying other ways as i for my self can not see how halo can be used to bring in the message of god to a younger generation that wants nothing to do with church and i hope these guys will use this new one that is done by christians to reach out to an audiance as i am getting feb back that secular youth like this christian pc game

i played the demo version my self as i get an american magazine called out reach and it was left for those that buy this magazine i have told sevral youth pastors i know to get this as it has character back ground to the poeple and bible verses as well

yet what i do i screen what ethan plays on the x box as my son is only 10yrs old he has the nintendo 64 with a box full of games for the nintendo 64 he has a play station one and a play with a lot of games for the play station one and he also has a play station 2 the small one not the big one as its hard now to get the orgional play station two he also has an x box with a lot off games

we also limit how long he can play as when he is with me threw the school holiday he brings his games as i have my own x box so he does not have to pack his x box up and bring it with him

it just sort of puzzles me as a christian out reach worker to why this game would be used but i am seeing that youth pastors are doing what they can also to make church more comfterball for the youth that will not step foot with in a church even if their are christian youth their most of the ones i know i hold a seperate group wear i meet them at wear they are this could be at the park or sitting in the mall and will hold a short talk bring in a short message and i will also have them share wear they are at in their lives and most of these troubled youth i know have my mobil number as i have been to court with sevral off them and they know when they ring at one or 4 in the morning and say i am in trouble i will be their for them

i hear what you are saying and i thank you for this post you left i have even used music my self to reach out or bring gods word in i use creed have you heard of them ? they broke up for some strange reason these gusy had some good hits i use with arms wide open and i have the dvd with songs that are on the cd playing on a big screen and with arms wide open i like the music clip and it has its own message and i find it works very well when you want to reach out and bring in gods word

creed was a christian band and many said they wear not but if you read up on creed you will see that all of them came from a christian up bringing

try that web sight i gave you and you will see what people are talking about to the left behind eternal forces game that is out know it is a bit expensive i do not know if it has dropped in price but i will be playing this with a friend of mine in canberra when i move their on the 29th of dec and when i settle in my partners country once i get the go a head and my filapino citazen ship is apporved i will use eternal forces with the youth in my partners church so this is more of a better out reach tool than haylo 3

Let me play devil's advocate here for a second.

If there was a video game that was basically the creation, fall, depravity of mankind story with a devilish angel chasing around people until the redeemer came and had an Armageddon-type ending where the devil had his entire clan faced off against the redeemer and was consumed by fire and thrown into an eternal fire - - - would anybody have these same objections?

In other words, if the game was basically the story of the Bible, would it cause the same uneasiness?

Exactly, I had the same question...all of these detail-oriented things (video games, whether or not to watch TV, whether or not to drink, etc) all center around the same old, old debate within Christian circles that essentially boils down to condonation vs. condemnation...however, the true goal should be transformation. And, in that sense, there are many "roads to Rome" as it were.

They're using Halo in one of the local 'mega' churches here. They have "halo" parties up at the church on one of the youth nights. -- It seems like this one church has something going on there every night of the week and one lady told me she had to curb her son's attendance because he had no time left for homework. When she did that one of the "youth pastors" accused her of not "loving Jesus".

Seriously...many of us who were saved when we were younger (pre- video games) remember pizza nights or other little fun get-togethers in which we would invite kids we knew. This is NOTHING different. We live in an era where movies and video games are fun and popular. I can't imagine why people would be upset at all about this. I think the biggest thing is that people don't understand the younger generation and thus have a hard time drawing comparisons to their experiences when they were young.

BTW...I play Halo 3 religiously (pun intended :emot-hug: )

I see nothing wrong with it. i have played halo3, its just a game. Granted its essentially the same type of game as doom, wolfenstein, and all but its nothing major. And to those who scream violent game, so what! They get far worse on the streets, in schools, and on tv. At least their inside, in a group setting, and with adults. Better than them being out on the streets in a gang, shooting and robbing little ole ladies, and being a spawn of satan!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
