I wish i lived when Jesus did to, so i could have got to know him in person

I wonder how many people would recognize Him if they were able to go back in time and see Him as He really was? They would be looking for "Jesus Christ" all the while standing two-feet away from a 5' 6" Jewish man named, "Rabbi Yeshua ben Yoseph Al Natzrat, and have no idea who they were looking at."

I've always wondered if there was a record of some sort describing what He looked like in person.. I know the scriptures say He was uncomely, but this always made me wonder.

Some of the believers in China faced close to that. They sleep in the fields, walked from village to village to share the good news, shoes all broken. They eat whatever they can find. They have to run whenever the Public Security Bureau people comes. Sometimes they end up in jail.

For those of you who have not watched it, you should get the DVD "The Cross - Jesus in China". http://www.chinasoul.org/e/e-va.htm. I just found out that you can watch it online, but it is a DVD definitely worth having.

----------

Anyway, my first twenty years was in a village. To go to school, I have to walk 45 mins to share a ride with about ten other kids in a beetle bug w/o ac (and temps were in the 30+C). We have no flushing toilet, only a hut about 50 yards outside (just a bucket that gets emptied every day or two ... the contents sold to a vegetable farm nearby). Just hope the wind doesn't blow in the wrong direction. We have electricity for only 3-4 hours at night (we pay a guy with a turbine machine nearby to give us two incandescent lights for a few hours). Other than that, we used candle light (and to go to toilet). We cooked with wood, charcoal or kerosene. Our iron (for clothes) used charcoal (it was terrible if the ashes fall on the white clothes). Fortunately, there was tap water, but we have to carry it in from the landlady's bathroom (which was outside). The house was made of single layer wood, and there were gaps between the planks. Insects and rain got in. The roof was made of dried leaves. We needed pails to catch the water when it rains. Clothes were hand-washed (my mother still insists on washing it by hand).

Even then, it was still better than the home my father grew up in. It was in a plantation. The kitchen floor was a mud floor. Once, I was there and it rained (it rained a lot there), the torrent of rain water rushed through the kitchen like milk tea. The roof leaked terribly and the food on the table were mixed with plenty of rain. We stooped on stools in order to eat during the rain.

Ah. Those were the days.

-----------------

Anyway, after I became a Christian, I am thankful and I tell my children what life was like then so that they also learn to be thankful.

The point isn't whether you have all these or not, although it helps sometimes. My experience growing up did help me a lot when I was in the army, or when I go on missions trip. All these are external, and we need to learn not to cling to them. Even when I am more well-off, I learn to let go of all these things. Therefore, I don't wear designer stuffs, don't drive expensive cars, nor have a big house. It's not wrong to have nice things, but I live as if I don't have them.

God is who we should be clinging to.

He may not have looked like anything you imagined. Check this out:

The description of Jesus in Isaiah 53 is describing Jesus' appearance on the cross. I don't think it is saying that Jesus was as a person ugly or unattractive, per se.

Yeah, I never believed Hollywood. Funny as it may sound, but I would be more likely to talk to the one on the left then the other two. Something about his expression. I know this is not a snapshot of Jesus, but closer then anything else I've seen, IMHO.

Thanks for the link.

Funny thing is, I don't want to let go of the "traditional" image of Jesus. There's something so loving about that face it just makes me woozy!

from what i see who jesus might look like is not as what is placed on tv and how others have seen him on tv i remember a pastor saying this in church that jesus would not have been a well good looking man but he was a mans man a strong man with strong hands and he was also very fit

he also said to the way holly wood has done this is very wrong of how he might look like

the pastor that did the talk also said that he did have long hair as most men in that time jesus was walking the earth did have long hair and the men wear fuff and very tuff so jesus was not this pretty boy as every one sees him i also go by what revelations describes jesus by

yet brother yogab i wil go into that link as i know what you are saying as my partner who live in the philippines lives just like this in how you described it and i am also use to this life after living on the streets as a street kid in kings cross wear i lived in a run down old building so i can simply give up what god has given me know and live the life i was so use to when i was living on the streets

the heavenly man broke me as i read his book twice the first time i was in tears as i had to put the book down sevral times this is how much it impacted my life know i have it in my collection as this man who was bought up of the streets to wear god took him and what god did for him and how he was also able to lead him pass the prison gaurds with out the prison gaurds seeing him yet his mate from the cell was watching all this in amazment how the heavenly man brother yun was able to just pass the prison gaurds with out them seeing him

his best freind wrote to me as i do keep in touch with his friend who is supporting brother yun

what got me is this pastor was placed on a crane with rope tied around his throat and they forced him to denounce god and everything he belived in and this pastor while up in the air with everyone watching him he said this i wil not do such a thing as this and they ended up killing him

so yes i can relate very wel to what you have shared as this is what my wife to be faces every day in the philippines with the muslims in mindinoa an island that they want as an islamic state and many christians have been killed and sisters raped by these monsters

and i am even ready to face this if i ever run into this group when i am living their as i have been warned and i said god is on my side i wil put my trust in him and in him alone

thank you from damo

I have often wished I could have lived at the time that Jesus walked on earth.

Life seemed to be so much simpler then.

Plus, I could have got immediate answers to my questions.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
