John 6: 9"Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?"

i often think of that boy bringing what little he had to the Lord. tho not mentioned by name ( some of my favorite "minor" people in the Bible are not). like the boy i have so little to offer. not meaning financially meaning i am all to human with errors and failings abounding. yet in the Lord's hands what little i can offer He will bless and transform into something truely marvelous :emot-highfive:

You know I really needed to hear this Rebekah...I always feel so inadequate, but this gave me something to think about today. ThankYou :emot-heartbeat:

Perhaps.

But like I said, Samuel tends to get overlooked . . . so that's why I mentioned him.

:emot-heartbeat: i share your love of Samuel as does my son and daughter in law. in fact it was the name they gave my first grandchild who did not make it full term . sandy ( my daughter in law) so loves the Lord and so loves children as does my son brandon. after much tears and prayer and many drs appointments specialists they are expecting again in febuary praise the Lord! going through all this with my daughter in law i feel even more closeness with Hannah's prayers and also her thanksgiving.

Another thread reminded me of Peter's wife. Now you know she has to be quite a woman to put up with Peter. :mgdetective:

love your sister in Christ,

The Strongs listing for Shiphrah says:

H8236

שׁפרה

shiphrâh

shif-raw'

The same as H8235; Shiphrah, an Israelitess: - Shiphrah.

And looking up H8235, we find:

H8235

שׁפרה

shiphrâh

shif-raw'

From H8231; brightness: - garnish.

As for Puah:

H6326

פּוּעה

pû‛âh

poo-aw'

From an unused root meaning to glitter; brilliancy; Puah, an Israelitess: - Puah.

So apparently the two ladies were Bright and Brilliant.

I think the woman that had the issue of blood that had such faith that she pushed through the crowd just to touch the hem of His garmit. Knowing that being unclean she wasn't to be around other people, but needing Him to cleanse her, she didn't let that stop her. How many of us really press on in a crowd? Or what about the woman who cast in all that she had in her need and faith? How many of us really cast ourselves all in to Christ for his use, it's not just money here. Or the woman who had just enough flour to fix 2 little cakes, one for her son, and one for herself. She showed such faith at giveing them to Elijah(right?) that God kept the flour going in the jar all through the famine and they all ate good through it. How many of us would give food out of our own mouth, and childs, to feed someone else? I could go on, and they would be nameless, just faithful in God.

I'm having trouble picking, but I've narrowed it down to two - one Old Testament, one New Testament. Despite being a male, I have chosen both my "minor-leaguers" to be women - I think this is partly because I once was in an official debate with the question "Does the Bible discriminate against women" (naturally I was for the negative).

From the Old Testament, this might sound a little crazy, but my favourite "minor-league" player would have to be Rahab. Let us look at the cultural and historical factors going against her - she was a woman (culturally frowned upon), she was a prostitute (socially frowned upon) and she wasn't even an Israelite (biblically frowned upon). Yet despite all this, her great Faith in God, and particulrly Joshua, led to one of the greatest victories of the early Israelites (the fall fo Jericho), and is even named as a member of the House of Jesus, in the genealogy of Matthew 1:5 (unless it's a different Rahab being referred to, which doesn't say).

In the New Testament, I must also go for another woman, this one not even mentioned by name, only known as "the Samaritan at the Well". She was also culturally affected by her being a woman (something frowned upon by society, but celebrated by the Bible). Beyond that she was a Samaratan - hated, even loathed by the Jews. Yet when Jesus spoke to her, her Faith shone through, despite her doubts and questions of "why would a Jew speak to me" (paraphrased, John 4:9). The resulting Fiath she showed and her influence with other Samaratans was such that in a society that viewed the testimony of a woman as worth half that of a man's testimony, despite this in John 4:39 is said to have brought many people to Jesus.

These two amazing acts show how the Bible used all people regardless of who they were or where they came from (and yes, there's probably bias there because I researched this extensively for my debate). I had a new-found respect for the women of the Bible after this debate.

All the best,

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
