  1. Met this lady preaching at a meeting. She had messed up tendons and after a quick prayer she was pain free. After that, I found out one of her legs was shorter, so I had her sit down and let Jesus do His thing.

  2. The world is completely enamored with Francis, which ought to be a clue. The media who loves to take pot shots at anything even remotely associated with Jesus Christ is in love with this guy. Granted the name Jesus rarely comes up. It "the Church" this and "Catholic" that. And strangely it was President Obama who mentioned Jesus and the Gospel in tonight's 60 Minutes interview. Aside from brilliant Roman Catholic Imperial strategy (doing damage control in the face of financial and sexual scandals that would not go away) we are seeing promotional press about this guy as if he were Pope Gandhi / Mahatma Francis. And again, it is the institutions that he is impressing most that has me (at least) concerned. Is this a forerunner (false prophet) of the antichrist (false messiah)? Tired old expressions, I know. Over used. Misused. And completely misunderstood because despite all the biblical warnings not to go outside the Bible to interpret the Bible, people (even otherwise scholarly people) have gone outside the scriptures and created or bought into smart sounding interpretations... but as wrong as wrong could be. Reminding ourselves in the midst of the love fests that surround this guy, Roman Catholicism hijacked Christianity and nearly processed it out of existence turning the Roman Empire into a Church with Jesus' name on it. So are any of you buying into this campaign?

  3. I suggest there are some values within some cultures. Not sure there are 'cultures' that are not compatible. Can you give an example? Islam clashes with every other culture on the planet.

  4. May I ask you a question? No disrespect is meant in any way with my comments. Have you researched this? All I can go on is how I research things in scripture. One of the things I look for is a occurrence in scripture before. While not bluntly stated as restraining, that's exactly what happens between God the Father and Satan in the book of Job. God the Father restrains what Satan can and can not do to Job and to Job's life. The Father restrains Satan and will only let him go so far. Just like the Spirit of antichrist since the time of Christ. The Spirit of Antichrist is already at work but restrained at the same time in what it can do, For it can't be revealed. Just as Satan was restrained in the book of Job. Satan couldn't kill Job. What was Stopping Satan from killing Job? To put it another way, What was restraining Satan from killing Job? God the Father and his word. Remember, Try to look at things from another's point of view. Perspective is often reality, but seldom truth. Jesus is Truth. God bless you.

  5. The ancient Hebrews used to bury old scrolls of scripture, but I don't know if it was intended to be more like a funeral service. I was thinking the same thing but in a different way...... why not a time capsule, include a note with why you have buried it and the date.

  6. But nebula, understanding end times prophecy (or at least wanting to try to understand) is also 'understanding' the times we are living in, where we are on God's timetable and calendar. Salvation of souls, growth and all else you mentioned is just half of it. There's also a prophecy that goes by the name of Gog-Magog War in Ezekiel 38 & 39 that hasn't come to pass yet. It involves Germany, Russia, Iran, Ethiopia, Libya, Turkey and Persia. You ever wonder why Russia and Iran and Libya are always in the news now? Do you see what I'm getting at? Combine that with the fact that the blood moons have only occurred three times in the last 500 years is pretty remarkable, plus they're also landing on Jewish holidays. I'm not even saying "be interested in the rapture or look up", rather I'm trying to help you understand the significance of what were talking about here. Just to acknowledge it, but you keep brushing it off because you're tired of hearing about it? If you're tired now then I dunno.....

  7. Not I; I don't trust any Pope nor do I regard any of them as 'God's representative"on earth. Jesus held that position. True. One thing about Catholicism that really worries me (well, there's more than one actually, but I don't want to digress) is that the Bible says that we should call nobody 'father' other than God. Not only is the Pope called father but so are all Catholic priests. That's just wrong!

  8. I said: "The Abrahamic Covenant (involving blood indeed) has a general provision that through Abe's seed all of the nations of the world would be blessed. But that does not guarantee a new birth for everyone." The question came back: "I don't understand something. Why would God bless certain men or families on this old earth but not bring them to salvation in the end. What's the point of that, blessing Israel but not saving them or some." My friend, you don't understand something. LOL. I don't understand many things! As the old hymn says, "I give up myself and whatever I know, now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow." We see through a glass darkly. "Why would God" -- my dogs may as well bark to each other asking why I do 90 percent of what they see me doing. They haven't a clue. God's ways are past our finding out. But God is loving, gracious, and just. He did not wipe out the whole human race when Adam sinned. He is the Savior of all men, specially of those who believe. All get a measure of salvation to common blessings of life -- the rain falls on the just and the unjust. He lets unsaved men have pleasures. The point is that God loves all. He gave His Son for all; Christ suffered to pay for the sins of all men. But man has this responsibility to believe. Behold, He stands at the door and knocks; of any man hears His voice and opens the door, He will come in. He offers salvation as a free gift. However, men have the ability to choose to refuse the gift. Consider Romans 2: "3 And do you reckon this, O man, who judges them who practice such things, and do the same, that you shall escape the judgment of God? Or do you despise the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that THE GOODNESS OF GOD LEADS YOU TO REPENTENCE? But after your hardness and impenitent heart do you treasure up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; . . . ?" Whose behavior is shocking? That of the Lord or that of the human rejecter of His grace?

  9. I think it would help if a Christian gets some other people to pray the intercessory prayer of Ephesians 3 for the Christian. Notice the words about the Holy Spirit, strength, and power there. It is interesting to note on James 5:17 that literally the word "earnestly" or "fervently" does not literally occur; that is not to say that the translation is wrong. But what it literally says is that Elijah prayed WITH PRAYER! So I ask if we are praying "with prayer"?

  10. God's greatest power is accomplished in each one of us by our submission to his will for our lives. We are all priests of God in Christ Jesus and have ministries to discover (according to our calling and spiritual gifts) and put into practice. The Church organization / Traditions of Man Inc. will tell you (the Church organism) to be silent laity sit there shut up pay your tithes and leave the spiritual lifting to the professional clergy. Bourgeois! You do and become and be what God saved you and left you in this life to do and be and your whole life will be powerful in Christ.

  11. As I mentioned in a topic Tiger started about forgiving and forgetting, the disciples of Jesus (some of which were disciples of John the Baptist) asked the Lord to teach them to pray as John taught his disciples to pray. This was in an Old Covenant setting under Old Testament Law. The New Covenant did not begin until the death of the testator (Jesus) on the cross (Hebrews 9:16-17). What has come to be called the Lord's prayer (by the Church organization / Traditions of Man Inc.) is actually the disciples' prayer. The true Lord's prayer is John 17 (Jesus' High Priestly prayer). The prophet Eliyahu was at the crossroads of destiny for his life and ministry when his prayers were so powerful. He faithfully served his purpose at that point in the face of the 400 false prophets. Followed by a rather cowardly retreat from Y'ezba'al. While the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16) the focal point and indeed the power thereof is God. Even if we want to do what we deem a mighty deed for Christ (which God may actually do) if it is what WE deem might or what WE want to transpire... it is just another way of spending it on our lusts... James 4:1-3 (KJV) 1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? 2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Elijah had submissive motives and was very courageous in his prayer / outwitting the false prophets of Baal. Yet he at times thought no one was left and the Lord told him about the remnant. What I am driving at is it's all about God. 1 John 5:14-15 (KJV) 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. It may not be his will what you are asking to be powerfully done. It may be like most (not necessarily you) an ego trip... much like those who post on message boards only to show what they know... It's all about God. And when we see this and breathe this in our own lives and stop trying to get our will done or make ourselves look good etc... then the Lord can use humble vessels to do mighty things if it is his will to do so.

  13. I pray for the knowledge of Gods will for me and the power to carry it out. I have oftentimes got caught up in thw drive to be equally great as some of my biblical heroes such as Elijah. I wanted a dramatic role in Gods plan. I wanted to see my prayers impact whole nations and peolples. I prayed fervently for revival for a certain city. I prayed the local sex shops would close for lack of business. I prayed earnestly for the people who were lost to be found. I prayed daily and sometimes various times all throughout the day. I fasted on Tuesdays and spent the entire day focused on understanding and praying for the perceived needs of others around me. And I prayed more... The city's crime rate still climbs. The sex shops are thriving. The people are seemingly no better off. I stopped praying after this manner. I simply ask to know Gods will for me. I ask that I be given the ability to love him and others while I am yet in this evil world. I simply want to be the person he created me to be. I am no Noah, Job or Daniel. I am just a guy who believes in Jesus and wants to love like he loves. I had to come to a place where I understood that when the pride of life runs my prayer life I am ineffective at best. Thy will not mine be done...

  16. When I pray for the things God wants, as stated in His Word, I am given the assurance He will answer them. But it may take years before He brings His promises to pass. I just keep on asking till I see it answered. He has promised to take care of our daily needs in the sermon on the Mount. It may not be a million dollar house--it may be a room at the Y. It may not be steak and lobster, but it may be venison, green beans and jello in a soup kitchen. But to pray for mighty miracles I think we sometimes have to pray the way God is telling us to pray in His still small voice. It is a step of obedience at risk of being made a fool. Or it may spring from a heart of compassion with very little faith. Our pastor had preached through and interpreter at an outdoor meeting in India. Afterward he gave an invitation for those who wanted prayer to come forward. Several thousand came forward. He was at loss as what to do because there is no way that each could be spoken to and prayed for specificly. So he just asked God to meet all their needs. He later learned that all kinds of miracles had taken place, as reported by the local pastors who had transported the people to the site. Marriages were heal, people stopped abusing alcohol, the blind received their sight, people were saved, they were healed of diseases. He was awed and humbled. Sometimes, to be delivered from sin takes more than a firm desire not to do it anymore. It also takes a firm desire to obey whatever Jesus wants you to do, and focusing on that. It is to take His yoke, for His burden is light, possibly to witness to others about our Savior. It takes avoiding situations that might tempt you or friends that get you into trouble. You can use parental controls on TV and even get them for internet. I hate getting into a good drama on TV only to find it full of blatent sex and vile language and torture sceens.. So I use parental controls for myself and screan out that stuff. They are not a temptation--they just fill my mind with garbage and stuff I hate and don't want to dwell on. Also don't set yourself for failure. I used to leave loopholes when I went on a diet--to stick to it UNLESS hubby brings me home brownies. So he did. We are told to let our yes be yes and our no be no. We can't leave loopholes. When we are praying for someone else, God must also take into account their will. It may take a long time to answer those prayers. Without knowing what mountains you speak of, it is hard to answer you or even know how to pray for you. Sometimes God gives us a gift of faith. When I prayed for the salvation of my husband and my daughter in law's mother, I somehow knew God would do it. He had not only given me promises in His word, He had given me encouraging signs and verses along the way. I found myself like Caleb, praying " give me this mountain", where the Anikim (giants) live.

  17. Say What! Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. James 4:2-3 God Bless Brother James The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: Isaiah 40:3-4 He's Another One Of Those God Sent Bulldozers

  18. This is not an easy question to answer. When we are in one accord with His will, having a confirmation in the spirit with His Spirit, our prayers will be in accordance to what He wants. We will know in our hearts what to ask for. This is done by the faith Jesus spoke of in Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." Ever notice when praying that you really do not have the faith that anything will happen? This is because we are not in His will with what we are praying for, while hoping something happens inline with our request. When we are in His will, He confirms this and lets us know in our spirit. So many people do not fully understand Matthew 21:22 "And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.". Faith comes from God, and if we ask according to His will, we will believe because He will confirm. If we are not in His will, He will not give the faith or confirmation and we will have doubt.

  25. It is the words within an individual bible that are holy, not the book itself..... be careful that you don't make the book itself an idol. If it is usable give it to someone..... if it's not usable, what good is it? The paper and ink are nothing special, just thank God for the things it has given you and dispose of it like you would any other book.
