My husband is addicted to porn
SisterActs2 replied to Jackie62's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Hi Jackie62 I will be praying for you as well. There is a fairly well known movie called "The War Room". The main character was able to save her marriage by interceding for her husband. Jesus gave them the victory. I would love to help you more but as we know, Jesus is the answer to everything. He paid the price for everything. I am hoping you are a Christian and can pray fervently for your husband. -
Thank you brakelite. I went to the site and started to read but had to go. I have written down the link in case I lose this thread somewhere and can't remember how to get back to it. I want to read your whole story. I have a special interest in Kiwis as my husband is one and most of his family still live there. So thanks bro. BTW, I didn't get saved in a revival meeting. Maybe I will tell you my story one day too.

Hi Terra- I agree with missmuffet. However, that said, I also think that your husband's ex-wife (without reading her side of the story) seems to me to be manipulative. If she wanted to move on with her life, she could easily pay someone else to do the mechanical work on the vehicle. I am wondering whether she wants your husband to feel guilty for some reason, and uses that.

Hi Gary Lee I really loved reading your story. Thank you.

Hi Brakelite Was it during the Charismatic renewal? That was happening when I got saved. I did get a really good grounding in the Word as I had a wonderful Pastor and his beautiful wife. I was in Sydney at the time. I remember a beautiful sunny Autumn day (Easter Sunday) at Balmoral Beach, being baptised in water. When I came out of the water and headed for the beach, the whole church was standing on the shore singing "I love you Lord". Beautiful memories. I would love to see those people again.

Experiences in life, that will be experienced in Heaven
SisterActs2 replied to BeyondET's topic in General Discussion
Hello BeyondET and blessings to you brother. Revelation 21:1-7 pretty much answers your question. Vs 4 "and He shall wipe away every tear ...................the first things have passed away." Vs 5 - "And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." NASB When you get there, you will forget all about earthly things! You will be in such awe and wonder that all you will probably do is fall on your face before our Saviour, as seeing Him will eclipse anything and everything you have ever known. He is surrounded by such glory that you will probably not be able to speak! And this is for every believer whom Jesus welcomes into their rest! The music will be out of this world. Just stay focussed on our Saviour and live for Him and He will take care of everything else. -
I think that God will not help me anymore.
SisterActs2 replied to johny111's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Hello Johny111 Johny, are you a Christian? - in that you have confessed to God that you believe in Him, that you repented of your sins and thanked Him for His forgiveness, and that you have received Him into your life - "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:12-13. If the answer is yes, then you are now in a relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. You need to recognise that He loves you and will never give up helping you to come into the fullness that He has for you. What the enemy does is try to bring us into a place of condemnation, and these days he is often using the problem of anxiety disorders to try to disrupt our walk with the Lord. OCD is anxiety. I have it to a degree. But you must trust the Lord to help you overcome it, and that comes with developing your relationship with Him. He has done everything He could to bring you into right relationship with Him. As you know, He went to Calvary for us all. He has paid our debt (sin) and when we know this it brings us into tremendous freedom, knowing that HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD DO THIS, and He has done it! He gained the victory FOR US. All we have to do is receive it and accept it. Now you must trust Him, read His Word, fellowship in a good place (maybe a church) where people stand on the Word of God without wavering or having their ears tickled with strange doctrine, and pray to Him every day (especially for the right place to fellowship, and there are many churches now that are not good to fellowship in). Do not be afraid of the enemy or what he says will happen. You are not in bondage anymore. You have been made free by our Saviour. You will see the freedom come - maybe immediately, maybe gradually. Confess to Him that you don't want this in your life anymore. You have salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9). We can do nothing to save ourselves. Ask God to help you (to surrender it all to Him). Believe me, He will. If the answer is no, and you have just decided to have faith in God and haven't known how, then follow the steps in my first paragraph and believe Him; the Word says that he that believes in Him, He will in no wise cast out. Blessings to you. -
How do you deal with troubled teenager
SisterActs2 replied to StinaW's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Hello Stina I hope when you go to sleep you can get good quality sleep. It really makes a difference, I believe. May God bless all your endeavours to help your son and get him to listen to you. Do you have any family close by that could visit you and speak to your son? Obviously he may wake up to the knowledge that they are there partly for his sake, but sometimes it takes a friend or family member, or even a stranger in passing, to say something that he will listen to and that thought will stay in his mind. I was in a similar position years ago. Many of us are now experiencing the same thing. I had the help of a believing husband by my side. However, it was very difficult. Pray that God will intervene. Teenagers (and God never called them this; it is a modern term) - adolescents are going through huge changes from the ages of about 11 and 18, as you would be fully aware. This does not excuse his behaviour but perhaps explains it somewhat. My advice would be to not get on his case too much (the temptation is there, I know) but continue to beseech the Lord in "the war room" and trust Him for the outcome. My prayer for you, again, is that God's will be done in all your lives. Our prayers and care are with you. -

Hello Stina Praying for your son, you, your husband and the situation, and for God's will to be done in your lives. -
Hello everyone I feel the need to add this: We need to ask ourselves - "what exactly is the fruit we are talking about? Yes, we know what the fruit of the Spirit is. Are we talking about the works we do, or the witness (by our lives) we show others, or the activity we share in at church; or what God has done in our lives to change us?" Is it to do with being grafted into the vine and receiving the Vinedresser's loving, tender pruning and supplying of all that branch needs that will ultimately produce good fruit? I believe it is as some have said. It is living and abiding in Him..... it is humbling ourselves under the Master's hand; being willing to receive from Him, whether teaching, chastisement, some sort of growth..... all these we count as joy, as we know our Lord is nurturing us and helping us to grow into the people He wants us to be. We have people who don't contribute, who seem to be pew sitters. But the Lord has been dealing with me for some time now about my judgemental attitudes to people who don't fit my criteria. And I have learned this: He has taught me that I am not their judge. I am simply to love them, and help them where I can, and they me. Who knows what He is doing in their lives? We only see them at church. We don't know what is going on otherwise. If there is a problem with false doctrine, that is another matter. Then we speak up. But let the Lord deal in our own lives and leave the production of fruit in others' lives to Him. Love to all my brothers and sisters

Oh, Neighbor, bro; you do make me laugh! (Sorry about your pain.) Let me tell you about my stupid: I prayed to the Lord for wisdom. So what happens? For a while, lots of stupid comes out of my mouth. I can't believe the stupid stuff I have said since I prayed for wisdom. It puts me straight into condemnation. I can't wait to see this or that person again so I can apologise and put it right. Of course I am almost flat on my face before God, repenting as well. How does this happen? Well, I think I know the answer. If we learn from really stupid mistakes, we are less likely to do them again! God teaches us that it was so painful last time, next time we may just remember what we went through and just don't do it lol. Even now when the enemy attacks me, he reminds me of all the stupid things I have said and done; how I have messed up. So I have learned to zip my lip before I speak more often than not, and pray that I am a good witness to Him instead of letting Him down again! (And there is less to ask forgiveness for.) So, yes, God is teaching me wisdom because of the sheer horror of making the same mistakes time and time again. With regard to moving furniture, etc. and trying to do so much later in life..... you have to take it a bit easier, bro! Our bodies are not as young as they used to be; regardless of that fact that, inside, we still think we are 25! Blessings

This one's for Igor - hey, bro - I have been to Odessa! I went to the 1980 Olympics in Moscow as part of an evangelistic group (Youth With a Mission). We went to another city, too - Sochi!

Neighbor, I think you are veerrry interesting! Love to have a coffee someday (it will probably be some amazing fruit I have never had before) and hear more of your stories.

Let's honestly tick the boxes we can (to ourselves) and work on those we don't, by prayer and supplication in the power of the Holy Spirit, knowing that we can't do it in our own strength, but striving to in the Spirit, and making right choices. "Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Phil. 3:13-14. In fact, I kept thinking I should add in Vss 7-12 as well. NASB

Hi bros and sis's When I got saved I bought a small NASB. Later I wanted a concordance, so I bought a bigger NASB with a Biblical Cyclopedic Index in it. It has been very good. Now I prefer the KJB, but the NASB is pretty good! Now, just a word of caution. I don't know how many people know about this, but there is a bible version (I use lower case "b" for a reason) called "The Message". My father-in-law loved the Lord, but when he passed away, my husband was given it. (Dad may have bought it out of curiosity; we don't know.) We have had it sitting in our bookcase for years, (never read) but have now discovered that it is very New Agey and definitely one to stay away from. A sister looked it up and discovered a review on it which is worth reading, and we are going to burn this one. Oh, and btw, Dennis - I am a suspicious person as I have been scammed and also someone yesterday sent a message to my 'phone - about my bank account, and what I should do to find out more - which I deleted. It is happening more and more -SO, my first thought when I read the thread name was - you guessed it - money! (Gotta admit it.)

What is your earliest memory of Church?
SisterActs2 replied to HisFirst's topic in General Discussion
We lived 20 miles out of town and my Dad worked very hard on the farm. However, he believed in God and must have thought his children deserved to get some kind of Christian education. So we went C and E. The first time, I would have been about 6 or so. I remember a church at the top of the hill in town, and cushions on the pews and cold hard painted concrete floor. It was an Anglican church and I remember standing up and sitting down repeatedly, and the priest in cotton robes etc. I can't remember any sermons, just singing "Onward Christian soldiers" which I quite liked. Later my Dad arranged for my elder sister and I to be "confirmed", so I wore a white dress and quite enjoyed the attention. When it came time for my brother to be confirmed, my Dad had been in hospital. The minister visited and said something to Dad along the lines of "How's it goin', ol' ............?" to which Dad took great offence, changed his mind and that was the end of confirmations for our family! I think the minister was just using accepted language of the day, actually. I think Dad just hadn't heard it before. It was anything too bad, really. -
Hello brothers and sisters You know, this reminds me of the movie "Ghost" in a way. The character played by Patrick Swayze was made out to be a "good" person, as opposed to his "friend" who turned out to be the bad person. Yet Swayze's character was living with the character played by Demi Moore. Most people absolutely loved this movie. But it gives the impression that being "a good person" can get you into heaven, as at the end, the character played by Swayze walks off "into the light" and it was made to appear he was going to end up in heaven. I believe film-makers have often "borrowed" stories from the Bible and dramatised them, making it look like you don't need salvation to go to heaven. I have really appreciated some Christian movies, made by Christians, like "The War Room" that tell it like it is.

Emotionally Tired of Being a Black Woman
SisterActs2 replied to Darian86's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Hello Darian86 - welcome to Worthy from one woman to another! When I read your profile, it says to me that you are pretty much like the rest of us, with different interests and hobbies. Also, you have better written English than a lot of people, and, as someone has said .... there is only one race - the human race. Darian86 dearest lady - Jesus is going to make it all up to you sister. He and I do not care about the colour of your skin. I would treat you the same as anyone else if you came into my shop. Don't believe the world. The Lord tells us in the Bible how valuable and precious you are to Him - He doesn't see any differences between us except for our individuality - He loves us both the same; He died for us both the same; He welcomes us into His family both the same. You are 100% precious and valuable. Just believe it and Him. God bless you -
Seriously??? Brawl over bag of cherries....
SisterActs2 replied to HisFirst's topic in Weird and Wacky News
Hi Davida I don't know how to preserve them. I probably should have put them back as soon as I saw them in the trolley lol. He had asked an assistant to get them so I would have felt bad. I reckon you have done exactly the right thing. We will just go through them, weed out the ones that have passed their used-by date, and put the rest in the 'fridge. Blessings -

SisterActs2 replied to HisFirst's topic in Weird and Wacky News
No, HF, you wouldn't. Hubby and I went to the Spudshed today (huge farmer's market over here) and got 3 huge punnets of end-of-season cherries for $10. Okay, we will have to throw some of them away but mid-season they were very expensive. -
Hello Tyler One of my favourite passages of scripture is John 1:1-5 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men." NASB He not only left His home in heaven with God, but He reached down and picked me up from the miry clay, set my feet upon the rock to stay, washed me in His blood, made me free and promised never to leave me, even until the end of the age. Another - Heb. 4:12 - "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."NASB He also sent the Comforter to help me become what He wants me to be. He paid it all, and He paid it all for me - and you, and the whole world. These are among the scriptures that have helped me understand the sacrificial love of our Saviour; how we owe Him everything, and how to listen to Him.

What Will We Look Like In Heaven?

Yes, Eragon you are absolutely right in what you said! I cannot imagine, actually, having thought more about it, being anywhere but on my face before His throne! Amen! Like your sense of humour and nature -
What Will We Look Like In Heaven?
SisterActs2 replied to PrincessPeachy's topic in General Discussion
Hi all I am hoping LOL that I will look similar to how I looked when I was born again (27) except glowing! (I was better looking in those days - wouldn't mind losing the wrinkles), but you know what? We probably won't really care, as we will not call the former things to mind
