It depends on what your temptations are. If seeing lustful things in a movie causes you to sin then yes. Each person will be different and have different things that are temptations. I've previously posted on here that it is not a sin to see a sin. My general answer for that question is no.

When it comes to movies and TV shows, I watch what I watch. Many movies and TV shows are garbage. The moral climate of many shows and movies is deplorable. Many movies and TV shows promote sexual perversion, violence, drug and alcohol abuse, greed, selfishness and nowadays there are a lot of occult movies and shows that promote witchcraft and the occult supernatrual. The quality of movies these days have gone down like a barrel falling off a cliff. When I was growing up in the 80's, there were some decent movies to watch, but nowadays, they are harder and harder to find. There's been times when my wife and I wanted to go to the theatre, but couldn't find anything we'd like to see.

Each person will have to stand accountable for their decisions. Take heed to what they are.

James 1:14-16 (New King James Version)

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

Listen to the quiet voice that guides you.

John 16:13

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Television is a form of idolatry; it promotes violence and lawlessness. Ask yourself, if Christ was in the room with you, is the tv on or off

Switch it off, change channels or don't watch it at all. The choice is yours. It is not a sin if you are watching something you don't know to be sinful and something comes up that is questionable, how can it be sin? You did not know it was going to come up. unless you knew it was questionable and you watched it for that purpose.

An example is the show "Overhauling", I watch reruns because I am amazed what can be done to an old car in 7 days. But when they present the car to the surprised owner after 7 days, why is it that 99% of them start saying over and over "Oh my God". I put the sound on mute and just admire the craftsmanship. But there are some movies that use blatant blasphemy as a shock value tactic. I have walked out of those, and don't watch them on TV either.

But then again I read Stephen King because I enjoy his writing style, and am far enough down my road of faith to understand that it is just fiction, and he presents it as nothing else but.

Sin is all around us, and in us, and one cannot escape it, we are who we are. But our faith should be strong enough for us to deal with most external influences, it is how we deal with the internal that really matters.

Blessings

If what you're watching is pleasing to the Holy Spirit, then it is the right thing to watch.

I what you're watching pleases the flesh in you, then shut it off.

Violence is not pleasing to God. Read Isaiah 11, which describes the thousand years on earth when Jesus is supreme ruler. No hurt is allowed on God's Holy Mountain. No hurt in man, nor beast.

They put violence and immorality in movies to sell tickets, because the world loves it.

We, christians are not of this world.

Sometimes I watch movies, I think everyone does. But some movies are great movies EXCEPT for that sex scene or that remark about her body or that curse word etc etc. Is it wrong to watch movies that stimulate both spiritual and flesh? What is the line between an OK movie and a not OK one? I mean I'm a superhero fan more than anything, so I like to watch movies like the incredible hulk (the newer one) and iron man and so on. But, in some of those movies, like for example Ultimate Avengers, there are some things that are needless to say lustful. It is a great movie with great morals but in the end all I end up thinking about in the long run is that one seen or that one word. Even in comedy movies! Take Yes Man. Some of that movie was NOT NEEDED AT ALL to make it funny. I mean without those scenes it would have still been amazing. I am ok when the movie IMPLIES SOMETHING HAPPENED but when they SHOW IT thats the problem. So, are movies something we should just cut out all together?

A Mighty Man Of Valor

Gregor

Gregor,

If you are a Christian, ask yourself this very important question, Would Jesus be sitting here enjoying this movie? If your answer is NO, then that particular movie is not for you. Let the Holy Spirit instruct you on which movies are pleasing to God. I know if I am watching a movie and I hear or see something that starts making me feel uncomfortable while watching it even though I am enjoying it, I get a knawing in my gut so to speak, I take that as a cue from the Holy Spirit, that I shouldn't be watching it.

Psalm 101:3 says, "I will set no worthless thing before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not fasten its grip on me."

Prov 6:12 says, "A worthless person, a wicked man, Is the one who walks with a perverse mouth."

I hope this helps,

Jime

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
