Got my share of that substance among others for some five years of my life. At times seemingly harmless, but in truth really something to deal with. What is needed is the power of the Lord and the Holy Spirit. They made it very easy for me to quit that rubbish. Once we get to feel God's love, nothing else will do it.

It would be so great to know what I know now already back then. But the drugs are so seductive and offer an easy entrance to pleasure. More reason for the Lord to fill up the gap.

A good idea to bring this up here, the prayers are already doing God's work on Earth.

Hi Countrygal.....  I was the same when I was your son's age.  Into more than pot though.   My parents tried many things to help me but finally gave up and turned me over to the Lord.  At 20 Jesus saved me and radically changed me.  I was even surprised.

I pray Lord Jesus touch this young mans heart as you have touched mine and deliver him from this bondage and open his eyes to your saving grace.

Im very sorry to hear this. Addiction is very hard road to quit but God can help. You seem like a very loving parent and are taking good action.  I will be praying for your family as addiction takes a toll on not just the person needing to recover from it and get free but for the whole family.  That passing out is very scary I bet as a mother to come home too  Hopefully he will realize the affects his drug habit is having on him and on the family.

wishing you the best and may God be with you in all this. I will pray that you family finds the encouragement and support they need for this. Just remember no matter what God is good and faithful and His Plan is good.

Be patient. God is not done with him yet. For me personally, it took 36 years of addiction, not 38 as I once stated by accident, for me to listen.

At least pot isn't as hard as other drugs and very easy to quit in comparison. I'm sure he'll come around, its just a phase as most eventually find God on their own when the time is right. Planting the seed of God in him is the most important thing to do, but it will be up to him in the future to decide which path to follow. As Parker mentioned I don't think its a good idea to force church on him, if anything that will distance him more especially at that age, I'm saying this from personal experience when I was the same age and all that mattered was smoking pot and surfing. I did eventually become intimitate with God on my own years later, when I was more matured and learned many lessons the hard way. Prayers lots of prayers for him will help him follow the right path...

He needs you right now. But prayer is the key to this, bring God closer to you and I believe he will show you and help you through this situation.

I have a 14 year old son who recently started hanging out with a 'rough' crowd about a year ago. I tried to make him stop hanging out with such bad kids and come socialize with kids at the church youth group, but he refused. One night he came home and reeked of 'weed pot'. I immediately made him empty his pockets and I was horrified to find a baggy of the illegal substance. I immediately grounded him and I have been bringing him to church and made him join the youth group but nothing seemed to help. One day about two weeks ago I got home from work. I walked inside to find my son passed out in the living room floor with a glass pipe near by, full of the illegal 'grass'. This time, I had had enough. I called the local church and got the number to a nearby detox center. It is a christian oriented one, so I thought that was great. He starts on Wednesday, but I am very worried. I can see a total change in his demeanor. He is much more angry now, and he has even began to curse, and become physical at times. I am worried that the 'weed tokes' have somehow frazzled his brain. I come here for prayer, and advice of what else I can do when he gets home from the detox center? How can I use Jesus to solve this terrible issue? I fear that my son is addicted ):

Praying for your son,how is he doing since Wednesday? Trust God ,He hears your cry for your sons help! It is tough for kids these days with so many temptations all around them.....

I had a workmate way back a ways that had the same problem with his son....    He went down to the local sheriff's office and made a deal with them to have deputy escort him through the county jail explaining how people are treated who are caught possessing any illegal substance.....   including pot.

It got his attention and he quit smoking.

i'm sorry to hear that, usually there is somthing that the boy is trying to escape from, find out what it is and he won't need to medicate, a good counselor can get to the problem if he is trusted

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
