I heard an argument made by a woman that it's Adams fault  that Eve picked the fruit and ate it. Namely because as head of the household and the one who God initially warned about the danger,  he should have ensured that Eve knew not to touch the fruit and because she didn't obey, thus when she disobeyed, Adam failed in his duty as man and leader of the home.

Personally I think that one of the stupidest, biased, fact blind, buck passing arguments I ever heard, because the Bible clearly says that when Eve is approached by the serpent, she repeats the instructions given by God, showing that she had been warned and wasn't ignorant, thus chose to disobey out of her own informed decision.

actually what that woman said was absolutely correct.  Adam was told not eat of the fruit before Eve was created.  We don't know the conversation that took place between Adam and Eve, but we do know that the Bible places the blame solely on Adam for the fall of man (Rom. 5:12-21).  It was the result of Adam's disobedience that Jesus came to pay the penalty for.

She didn't say what God said.  She said that God said they were not touch it.  But God didn't say that.  He said they were not to eat of it.  Eve added to what was commanded by God.  Whether Adam told her not to touch it or not, we don't know.  I Tim. 2:13-14 states that when Eve ate of the fruit, she was deceived, but Adam committed that sin with both eyes open.  He knew he was being disobedient.

The way the story reads in Genesis, it appears that Adam was present when Eve took of the fruit but didn't stop her.  Adam failed.  I think the woman that you mentioned is absolutely correct.  Nowhere in the Bible does Eve share the blame for man's fall.

I think there are many ways that you can look at this. Eve was naive and foolishly believed what the serpent had told her. Adam should have known better but maybe he was taken in by her charms, who knows?

God reserved the greater punishment for Eve in my opinion because of the pains of childbirth. However, you could argue that Adam's punishment was greater because he has to work hard and toil the land. So it's hard to say who is most to blame.

I think it tells us that women are not meant to be the leaders, the men are because women cannot be trusted to make decisions of big responsibility. I know that sounds sexist, but I don't mean it to be too literal, I'm just saying that it points out that we have different biological roles.

Have to agree with Shiloh on this one because the Bible in 1Tim.2:13-14 squarely puts the blame on Adam. But if you want to talk about passing the buck, notice that in the Garden when God confronted Adam with his sin, he replies with "This woman that YOU gave me"! Now, it seems to me that blaming God for his transgression would also be a big no no. It makes me duck my head every time I read it. When my kids pulled stuff like that my eyes would be blazing, so I can imagine the eyes of God in that instance.

Prior to the fall man was not the head of the household but they were equals then changed with the fall, Eve was tempted by Satan but had no support by Adam her husband to do right because He was not tempted but willingly sin without being tempted.

You took the words right out of my mouth,or rather, RIGHT OUT OF GODS WORD!!!!!It is pretty clear what happened & also that that woman has read Genesis with Understanding

The unity they had is something we can only partially experience and comprehend  this side of eternity. But the fall doesn't change God forming Adam first and then eve. The responsibility is Adams. Doesn't matter what dialogue or story we attribute to the couple. It's the oldest story of the term "man up".

I agree with the OP, it's just a story that has a chance of being stupid.

let me clarify. Yes God places blame on adam and yes he took the fruit  while knowing better- not disputing that, but the impression  this lady gave is that eve taking the fruit was somehow his fault not hers.

Apparently, a grown woman  isnt responsible for her actions, so blame the husband because she didnt quote Gods instructions exactly.

The Bible never says whther Adam gave Eve the exact instructions that God gave him(maybe not or maybe he did and she misquoted him) or that if he was there to stop her.

BUT

Besides, God said dont eat  it, wouldnt touching be involved in the eating??? So either way, clearly contact with said fruit is wrong.Which she disobeyed.

The lady was adamant on it being his fault that his wife  ignored Gods simple rules and  listened to a talking snake.

THATS why i call it buck passing.

Biased because of something i realised about male and female fault  taking, but thats another story

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
