If a person's heart and lungs are only working because the are hooked up to a life support system. Do you think that this would keep the soul traped inside a body that is no longer living on its own? Sometimes they say you have to let people go.

Not unless God wanted it to be trapped. That is a personal family choice. It is important to have an advanced directive in place if this should occur.

Remember that not a sparrow falls without the will of the Father. Even the hairs on our heads are numbered.

So do you think a soul can be trapped on life support if God decides its time for the person to die?

if a person is conscious I would think yes...    If a person is in a deep coma, I don't think so, but i don't know that we have the knowledge to know.   if you have ever had an out of body experience, it makes it easier to say no.....     it does not trap the spirit/soul.   It would seem to give a way back as long as the body is alive though.....    but that's kind of metaphysics thinking on my part for there isn't any way that i am aware of to prove it.

Trusting In Him

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalms 23:4-6

One Thing I Do Know

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee:

when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned;

neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isaiah 43:2

Trapped Or No

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him:

but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

I will not leave you comfortless:

I will come to you. John 14:17-18

Jesus Will Be

Now unto him

that is able to keep you from falling,

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty,

dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Jude 1:24-25

I think by trap I meant to say delaying one's trip to the other side.  I guess the question really is is when does the soul leave the body? Is it when the brain dies ( brain dead) or when we turn off the machines and our organs stop working? I know I can not get a 100% this is the right answer. I am just asking for your own thoughts on the topic. That is all.

Job 38 is a great chapter in which God explains his power and sovereignty to Job.  God knows exactly the number of hairs on our heads, and has determined the number of days of our lives. He knows before we were born, the exact moment we would be born and the exact moment we will die.

When my mother-in-law was in the hospital, one of her doctors came off as especially arrogant, boasting in his abilities. He essentially said that we should trust him, as he had the ability to save life. Well, she contracted an infection which typically has poor survival percentages. For those who know, it was a gram negative rod. Once in a while, I get especially bold in what I say, and I usually attribute it to God since I am a shy person. Anyway, I told the doctor that if it is my mother-in-laws time to go, there is absolutely nothing any doctor can do to prevent her from going to God. And if it is not her time, there is absolutely nothing anyone could do to cause her to die. The doctor gave me a very dirty look. Well, the doctor announced she had just hours to live, and instead, she started to get better. Then he announced that she would recover, and she started to get worse. He said things didn't look promising, and she got better. So he said she was out of danger, and he took credit for his excellent care and said he was moving her out of Intensive care that afternoon. She passed away just 30 minutes later.

We are so firmly in Gods hand, and nothing, or nobody can separate us from the love of God. I do believe when it is our time to go, nothing and nobody can prevent our passing into the presence of God. And if it not our time to go, nothing and nobody can overcome Gods plan for us.

God is sovereign and we need to be willing to let someone go when God says it's time.   Often people linger on life support because the family is being selfish.   it is possible to keep someone alive biologically, after the spirit has departed.  Life support, in my opinion should only be used when there is still hope that a person is still alive and can at least to some degree recover.  Life support should not be ended prematurely.   But in the case of a person for whom there is no hope of recovery, that they will be always be depended on a machine to keep their vitals going, it's time to let them go and let the family go through a healthy grieving process.

I believe the soul and spirit leave the body when the silver cord has been severed, in other words death.

The silver cord is what attaches the spirit to the body, it's what keeps us alive in this mortal body, kind of like a battery.

Ecclesiastes 12:6-7

6

Remember him—before the silver cord is severed,

and the golden bowl is broken;

before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,

and the wheel broken at the well,

7

and the dust returns to the ground it came from,

and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
