I was a satanist before I became a christian and got a tattoo on my upper left arm of a inverted pentagram. It is a symbol that today is representative of Satan and the satanic church.  Now as A christian I don't have the money to get it removed and would not get it removed even if I did. Because to me, every time I look at the star on my arm all I see, all I am reminded of every time I see it is , that there is nothing God can't save me from. To me, this star on my arm has become a symbol of the power of deliverance of Jesus Christ.

My son has a very nice tattoo of a cross on his arm.I like it but my son hates it.My son is a born again Christian but he just does not like tattoos now and he thinks he acted hastily when he got it..But it is there to stay.

That's a great testimony, firestorm.  I am SO happy you found the Lord.  He knows what you came out of and took you anyway.  That's just how our God is.  :mgbowtie:

I would not even consider attending a church where the Pastor had long hair and tattoos.  The tattoos may not be a deal breaker, because it is possible he could have gotten them before he became a Christian, but if he was getting tattoos after being saved, no way would I attend that church.  The long hair would be a sign that the man is in rebellion against his head, Jesus Christ, and the Bible tells us in Leviticus not to print marks on our bodies.

All that being said, I would not write hate mail to this man, or go out of my way to attack him or his church.  I can't really understand why anyone would do that.  If you are like me and find his appearance to be against God's Word, find another church, and leave him and his congregation alone.

Being clean shaven is not rounding the corners of your beard.  That is one of the most idiotic things I have heard people present at Worthy Boards over the years to try to defend their own sins, like having a tattoo.  Even if it was what it means, and it clearly is not, it won't get anyone off the hook for their own sins.  This tit for tat nonsense is just that, nonsense.  All it would mean is that if it was wrong to be clean shaven, then we need to preach against it, not defend other sins.  To me, rounding the corners of your beard would be more like a goatee or something like that, but I am not sure that is even what it means.  I am 100 percent positive it isn't being clean shaven.

Sometime Brother

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6

One Just As To Wonder

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness. So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. Matthew 23:27-28 (ESV)

Who Will One Stand Upon For Righteousness

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." Romans 1:16-17 (NASB)

Who?

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, Revelation 1:5 (KJV)

I think we need to do things in a Biblical manner.  If the Bible gives prescribed methods and teaches us some things are right and others are wrong, we should take heed.  I am reminded of the poor guy that attempted to steady the Ark of the Covenant that went against God's ways, and how it turned out.  What kind of testimony does it show when we get up in the pulpit and ignore God's Word entirely while preaching from it?  It is not a question of appearing righteous, as much as it is caring about what the Bible says.  Why should I listen to someone in the pulpit trying to teach me out of a Bible he is ignoring?  What is he going to do?  Is he going to try to convince me of my sinful ways in one place while he refuses to obey a passage in Corinthians?  Why in the world would I waste my time with someone like that?  I can live with someone who is striving to follow the Bible, but is weak in some areas and occasionally misses the mark better than the person who ignores scripture.

The man described in the OP is doing something the Bible says is a shame, not in the Old Testament, but in the New Testament.  The man described in the OP has printed marks on his body, in violation of scripture.  Now as I said, it is possible the tattoos were done before he got saved, so I am not going to make assumptions there, but there is no excuse for the long hair or new tattoos.  If choosing to side with scripture makes me like the Pharisees, so be it, but I would remind you that Jesus said the Pharisees stand in Moses seat and we should observe them, but do not after their works.  The Pharisees were supposed to teach the letter of the law, but they were misusing scripture to justify breaking the law, as they did with regard to honoring Father and Mother.  In reality, the people that are acting most like the Pharisees of Jesus day are those who twist scripture in order to justify breaking God's laws.  That is what the Pharisees did.  If you doubt me, go back and read the things Jesus accused them of doing.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
