Do you think Satan causes all of our adversity?

I believe that satan IS behind all adversity and evil.  Not being omnipotent though, he has to influence man to do the actual deeds.

Nope. I believe humans are capable of evil all on its own due to the sin nature. Satan could be locked up and humans would still sin.

However, indirectly you could claim that Satan is behind all adversity due to tempting humans to sin, resulting in the curse that bring about human adversity.

No I don't think so.  Yes he is the enemy and yes he is here to do his very best to take us down, but we have a thing called free will and some of our decisions we make without praying  about them or just plain bad choices is what brings on some our adversity. I have learned that the devil only has as much power in our lives as we allow him to have.  Our words, can change the very space around us.  When we let our speech become negative or when we allow our thoughts to rule over us and they are not of the Lord we can bring on disaster on ourselves.

 

That is why the Word tells us to guard our heart and mind.  We are responsible for what we say, think and act on.

 

Be aware that Satan can take on  any form.  He can even make lies look like truth.  Hang on tight to Jesus and listen to His voice in our spirits.

​Going right back to the root of things (Adam's fall) you could say that Satan is the cause of all our woes and troubles. But most of them have more immediate causes. Even after the Fall, we still have free will, and many of our problems are our own fault. We can choose not to damage ourselves, our environment and other people - and yet we still do it. Blaming Satan can be a way of not facing up to our own responsibilities.

We do have free will and our choices can cause difficulties for us..yes satan is a problem but as with Job he can do nothing to the Christian without God's permission,

No, it is a sin issue. Everything was perfect until sin entered the World. When GOD finished creation, He said that everything was"Good."

if you read Revelation chapter 13 you will see that very shortly he will have permission to do almost anything physically to us.

 

But not spiritually.....

1) Some of our adversity comes because we live in a fallen world. Luke 13:1-5

 

2) Adversity can also come into our lives as a result of personal sin.Each sin we commit carries some consequence.In cases like this we can not blame God,the devil,or others.We must follow David's example. Psalm 51:3-4

 

3) Some adversity comes from God.God is concerned with our spiritual health.Sometimes adversity is the only thing that will get our attention.He always has the big picture in mind.Psalm 119:75

I agree. The simple answer to the question is 'yes' and 'no'.
