Those who die in Christ will instantly have their souls with Him.  Paul said, thus we shall always be with Him.  Being in God's presence will be so overwhelming that we may not even notice each other, but I suspect believers will know each other.  I hope to see my mom and dad again in heaven, and my grandma.  I doubt that we will really miss those who have hated Jesus and hated Christians.  They will remain in the grave till the second resurrection when they will be foreced to bow to Jesus and to take the eternal punishment for those who have rejected Him

I don’t know Willa, but I can’t imagine being happy in heaven whilst knowing that others suffer eternal punishment. What would that say about my Christian compassion?  And surely Christ would miss every single soul that’s not with Him. After all He was sent to save the world, not just an elect few.  He judges the living and the dead, but if He told us to forgive those who trespassed against us, He’ll surely keep forgiving those who trespassed against Him, just as He forgave those who nailed Him to the cross. His love is unending and He will keep reaching out to us human sinners until every soul is purified and bows down to Him acknowledging Him as Saviour:

“4 as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah,

“He is a voice calling out in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way for the Lord! Make his paths straight!
Every valley will be filled,
and every mountain and hill will be leveled.
The crooked ways will be made straight,
and the rough roads will be made smooth.
Everyone will see the salvation
    that God has provided.’”[

Don't you believe there is a hell?

Matthew25:4

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I do not think I would disagree with that, but I believe while we might know who they are, old relationships are dissolved. When I next meet my wife, she will not be my wife, she will be my sister, but the relationship will be better, and more intimate and rewarding, as we are all in the family of God, adopted to be co-heirs with Christ. Our focus will be more on Him, we as His bride, that it is will be on each other. Those former relationships, will be part of the things passed away (Rev 21:4). Just my opinion.

That being said, all of what I just stated, related to believers only. Those who die in unbeleif, reap a different eternity.

Yes Omega it's all about our eternity.  Born again believer we are Heaven bound and yes I believe we will know each either and have wonderful things to look forward to, things we cannot even imagine.  But if your not a Christian, have not accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord of your life, your bound for an eternity in hell, a place that is called outer darkness and a total absents of God.  Horrible place where there is fire and eternal torment. Are you a Christian?  I just want to be sure because as your stated your question you asked what happens to our souls after death.  If you do not know for sure now you can be sure.  Ask God to forgive you of your sins, then thank Him for loving you so much He sent His Son Jesus to die for you on the Cross so your sins will be covered by His shed blood.  Then ask Jesus into your heart to be the Lord and Savior of your life.   Find a good Bible believing church and get into the Bible.  I would suggest you start in the book of John.  Come back in and ask questions if you have any.  We would be more then happy to answer them.  Welcome Ridelle to Worthy we are thrilled you have found us, there is also a chat room you might be interested in where you can talk one on one.  God Bless you.

The part above bolded and underlined is not entirely correct to Scripture - God's wrath does abide there forever

Jn 3:36

36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Hello everyone!I'm new here. I just wanna know what happens to a person's soul after his/her death on earth?Do we also know each other's name after death?Do I still know that she is my mother? He is my father? My sisters? Thanks. God bless:)

If a person is a child of God (born again) his or her soul and spirit go to be with Christ in Heaven (see Acts 7). If not they go to Hades to await final judgment. As to your other questions, they will have to be addressed in Heaven.

I believe that Christ conquered hell and death when He died on the cross, entered the realm of the death and preached the Gospel there (1 Peter 4:6). Hell is empty because Christ will draw all people to Himself rather than leaving a single soul behind (John 12:32), because God wants “all people to be saved and to come to know the truth fully” (1 Tim 2:4b). So yes, I trust the Bible’s promise of universal reconciliation: that in the end God will be all in all (1 Cor. 15:28).  As theologian Jürgen Moltmann put it in “The Logic of Hell”:

“Judgment is not God’s last word. Judgment establishes in the world the divine righteousness on which the new creation is to be built. But God’s last word is ‘Behold, I make all things new’ (Rev 21:5). From this no one is excepted. Love is God’s compassion with the lost. Transforming grace is God’s punishment for sinners.” http://jasongoroncy.com/2006/03/06/the-logic-of-hell-by-jurgen-moltmann/

As for Matthew: The debate on whether  αἰώνιον”  can really best be translated as "eternal"  aside:  the passage doesn’t even refer to unbelievers, but to people like us: People who proclaim Christ as Lord, but often enough fail to live up to His spirit of grace. Whenever we treat the least in our societies with contempt or indifference, whenever we find excuses not to care for the poor and not to give shelter to strangers in need, whenever we wish that somebody else may burn in hell, we show that our faith is shallow and that there’s still a lot of transformation work to be done to fix our souls.

May the Lord have mercy on us all.

It is the heart that begins to search for God in His Word for the sole purpose of knowing Him/ so that from that Word
a s/Spiritual relationship is formed... As this heart grows in the depth of The Who of God that heart is changed from
reflections of this life to the life that will be- one of spiritual essence in being and not so much material aspects....
God fills us with desires of something that we cannot even comprehend for it does not exist here and now but then
and forever. We are settled in The Who of God to let go of this place and be satisfied with the promise for it becomes
a surety to do so by faith... Growth in God is to relax in His performing His promises in due season! We truly do walk
by faith and not by sight finding His pleasure in doing so   Love, Steven

Junobet, you are sadly mistaken if you believe Luther or the Lutheran Church has ever been universalist.  The Lutheran Church teaches that Salvation is offered to all, that they are saved by grace through faith, but men by ther own choosing refuse to come to Christ.  It is for man once to die, and after that the judgement.  There are no second chances after death. And It is certain that God is both just and righteous, giving man every opportunity to receive the knowledve of His existance and of the Gospel.  The following is from the Augsburg Confession:

Article XVII: Of Christ's Return to Judgment.

1] Also they teach that at the Consummation of the World Christ will appear for judgment, and 2] will raise up all the dead; He will give to the godly and elect eternal life and everlasting joys, 3] but ungodly men and the devils He will condemn to be tormented without end.

4] They condemn the Anabaptists, who think that there will be an end to the punishments of condemned men and devils.

[John 3:18-19, 56 NKJV  He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not  believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  And this is the condemnaation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light , because their deeds were evil.  56.  He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. ]

.ATHANASIAN CREED:   For as the reasonable soul and flesh is one man, so God and Man is one Christ; Who suffered for our salvation; descended into hell, rose again the third day from the dead; He ascended into heaven; He sitteth on the right hand of the Father, God Almighty; from whence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. At whose coming all men shall rise again with their bodies, and shall give an account of their own works. And they that have done good shall go into life everlasting; and they that have done evil, into everlasting fire.

EPITOME OF THE BOOK OF CONCORD

ELECTION

12] 11. However, that many are called and few chosen, Matt. 22:14, does not mean that God is not willing to save everybody; but the reason is that they either do not at all hear God's Word, but wilfully despise it, stop their ears and harden their hearts, and in this manner foreclose the ordinary way to the Holy Ghost, so that He cannot perform His work in them, or, when they have heard it, make light of it again and do not heed it, for which [that they perish] not God or His election, but their wickedness, is responsible. [2 Pet. 2:1ff ; Luke 11:49. 52; Heb. 12:25f.]

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
