trials and sufferings for this however...

And you would be correct in that thinking.  Also, to stay on topic, we should dress for church as we would dress to visit with our father.

So I have a question.  For those of you who have gone to a church that has a dress code. Just how do they enforce  it? Do they turn people away at the church doors if they are not following the dress code? Tell them not to come back until they have the right clothes? How does a dress code in church work?  Or are all the members just too afraid to go against the code to see what happens?

I may have gone to a church with a dress code but, if so, I never noticed it.  I've never known ANYONE to be put out of church for their appearance.  I know that it happens though because someone else has told me about it.  I think that's disgusting.

Blessings,,,,,

Thank you everyone for your participation & your input,I had a feeling this thread would go in a totally different direction than what I was hoping it would,I even hesitated in posing my question because deep down inside I knew that I would probably not get direct "yes" or "no" answers,,,,,,,,I saw 2  or 3 people understood what I was looking for,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

BTW,no one would ever be turned away, that is why they were more than happy to GIVE away the appropriate attire

I do believe algots gave the Best Answer, imo      That is what it was all about,Ezra also understood the question completely,,,,,I can pose another question, very similar

Heaven has opened it's gates for a day,God has granted some individuals audience before His Throne of Grace,,,,,,,& YOU received an invitation from the King of kings,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,The invitation says,Gates open in one hour,Please dress appropriately, you are then brought to a room to dress for the KING,one side has neat jeans ,pretty blouses & nice shirts for men,,,,,on the other side you see royal ball gowns & the finest suits for men(the best of the best),,,,,,,,,what would you choose for the occasion,or would you say"I like what I am wearing,no thank you,,,,,,,,,"

   Love you all,Kwik

This is an audience, right?  I mean, we would be coming back?  Regardless, I would choose a pair of jeans and a nice top because that would represent who I really am.  (Me? In a ball gown?  The Lord would have a righteous laugh at that!) l Then I would go in and have my audience and then implore Him not to send me back!

Church aint a country club where folks have the right to attend or not because they pay their dues.  Thats worse than giving a person dressed nice with a ring a front row seat, and The Book speaks on this!

Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.  Proverbs 14:31

I agree Cleatus but unfortunately there exist churches like that .

If you have to give an outfit to someone before they can walk in through the doors, you definitely are showing favoritism and creating a legalistic situation. Jesus was constantly around the sinners of his day. Not the affluent and wealthy. The Pharisees were the religious of the day who were impressively dressed. They really thought of themselves as pleasing God in how they dressed. But Jesus had some of the harshest words for them. What did he say...

James 1: 1 thru 4

My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in dirty clothes, and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, "You sit here in a good place," and you say to the poor man, "You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool," have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives?

Matthew 23:25

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

How could I ever dress good enough.  If I could make a dress out of all the flowers of the Earth, it would never be good enough.  I am nothing more then a filthy sinner saved by his grace.

My grandma use to tell me to wash my feet every night before I go to bed. Because if you die in the night, you won't want to be walking the golden streets of Heaven with dirty feet.

Truth be know my clothes are actually falling apart.  It is my daughter who gets the new clothes because she is growing and needs to go to school. So I end up just going with out and making due with what I have. I have 2 pairs of jeans and both are starting to fall apart. So I told my husband I am going to need to go buy a new pair of jeans soon. I'm just not big on shopping for clothes. I think they cost too much. I end up going to a thrift store and seeing what I can find there. I have one pair of running shoes. One pair of boots. One pair of dress shoes that don't fit right so I don't like to wear them. I see no reason why I need to own a  closet full of shoes. This is just me. How I am.

Blessings,,,,

I'm not sure who Cletus is addressing"WHO DO SOME PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE!!!!" Shame Shame & all that stuff???? I am the OP,it is just an imaginary scenario(I made up) & if you are addressing me,well you have the wrong one because I do not judge people by what they wear or what they sy about why they wear what they do,,,,,being a Christian is a PERSONAL relationship, what I am GIVEN to do or INSTRUCTED,may not be for you OR it may not be for you "right now",,,,ya never know     What many people don't know is that once upon a time I went to church with a very different mindset & with some pretty wild outfits,as I matured I became more & more accountable for many things(between God & I )Things change as we grow in Christ "individually",,,,,so just a little advice,,,,,don't be so quick to 'Shame Shame" anyone  because there is no one except an imaginary Pastor with setting a "Rule",,,,,,perhaps it is not a Topic about clothes, after all(read algots response)_

I can see this can be a very touchy & personal issue for some people but it is not meant to be that & I do understand it as I do understand Cletus because of his beginnings,,,,,,,,Personally I have taken many a homeless person to church & had a very hard time convincing (or re-assuring) them that it was okay to "come as they are',,,when that didn't work we would always find provision for their needs,,,,,,that is nothing spectacular,I would expect anyone here to do the same,,,,,,,,,What I find hard to understand is the people that want to "come as they are" seem to be the one's that do the most judging of the ones's they 'assume" are judging them,,,l constantly hear about what I am wearing whenever I go to the more "casually attired" church(I attend 2 very opposite churches,in that respect)    Honestly,I never say a word & I have people asking me,"Why are you all dressed up" ,I answer"Because I want to give MY best for the King of kings & then immediately it is followed by all their opinions about why they are not dressed up and how God sees your heart & all the usual,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,why are they so defensive? I believe it is because they may not truly feel they are putting forth their best efforts,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Folks that do not have any issues or are not convicted in that way, simply respond,"Oh ,that is nice".....period    See what I am saying?

Anyway, the next question is also imaginary,,,,,,,yes,Morning Glory,it is an audience & you are coming back!-LOL  (that was cute!) And I love what Lady Kay said,,,,,

"How could I ever dress good enough.  If I could make a dress out of all the flowers of the Earth, it would never be good enough.  I am nothing more then a filthy sinner saved by His Grace. "

That is beautiful, that is how I feel,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I'm sure I would choose a ball gown & still feel under dressed, perhaps some of His Glory would make me glow like Moses Face & then I would be fit for the KING!!!!!!

I don't want to get anyone ruffled,I thought it would be interesting & we could have some fun together,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Love you all,Kwik

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
