With Legalese?

That is jargon for admiralty law.

I've done court cases.

There is the preponderance of evidence issue.

I view it as a way (fighting with the idea of winning people with definitions) to get a mind to forget his true roots, which lay in God and a spirit re-born rather than the works of man (which lead to Satan).

eileenhat

It's simple.  Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 15:50   Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Just like the Israelites walked through the desert towards the promised land, and many did not reach their destination because of unbelief and rebellion, they were refused entry, it's the same today,  but our walk is a spiritual walk.  Our promised land is the Kingdom of God and we receive that at the end of our journey if we make it to the end.  If we make it to the end, we will be in that resurrection.

We are not speaking of admiralty law, we are speaking of God's law.  This law says that one cannot enter heaven until he has received his change -from flesh to spirit.  To be walking in "the spirit" is not the same as being physically changed as in the resurrection.  The resurrection is the proof, one walked in the spirit of Christ.  In the resurrection we will be perfected.  Born again.  This time, the second time not born of flesh, but born out of the spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:42   So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

Sister, you are confusing the Kingdom of God which is what Nikodemus spoke of, and the Kingdom of Heaven as you spoke of more correctly in this your second post.  Jesus said that the Kingdom of God is within you.  It has to do with surrendering our lives to God and accepting His Lordship over us as King of our lives.  In some places they are spoken of as one, but in this case the Heavenly Kingdom is not being referred to as being born again of the Holy Spirit.

Thank you Willa.

There is no difference between the Kingdom of God, and the Kingdom of heaven, it's the same.   God's Kingdom is the Kingdom of heaven, it's his Kingdom.  This kingdom also has a name and is called Zion, it's even called Holy Jerusalem, Heavenly Jerusalem, or the City of Truth and probably a few more that I can't think of right now.

By accepting God through Christ, yes we spiritually "dwell" in the kingdom by following those laws given to us, through reading and learning how to travel the straight road, so that we can become "heirs" to this Kingdom......but we are not physically there yet are we?.  We have not received our change, our reward yet?,....we cannot enter that realm because flesh is flesh, and spirit is spirit.  We cannot travel up and down to heaven yet. Two different worlds. Flesh cannot do this, only spirit can.

John 3 went on to say

Joh 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  Joh 3:7  Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'  Joh 3:8  The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

The Holy Spirit has a mind of His own.  He knows when hearts are sincere and surrendered.   Jesus told His disciples that He would send them another Comforter or Advocate and He couldn't do so until He had returned to the Father.  Joh 16:7  ESV Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.  So, as Kwikfilly has said, it is likely that no-one had received the Holy Spirit or been Born Again until the day of Pentecost when the church was born.  It is true that after His resurrection He had breathed on the disciples and instructed them to receive the Holy Spirit.  But He also instructed them to wait until the Holy Spirit had come upon them and they would receive power to witness about Him.  On Pentecost they were filled with the Holy Spirit, He came upon them, and they were born again so that the Spirit dwelled in them permanently, sealing and adopting them as God's own people.

Yes but you are speaking of the holy spirit.

Being "born" of  "spirit" is different,....It's speaking of the resurrection.  It's what comes last.   Being born "again", the second time. This time not of flesh which corrupts, but born into the world this time in a different way,....born spirit which is perfect.  This is after our walk, and our prize at the end, ....everlasting life in a new body that will never corrupt, joined by our spirit that was preserved for this day.

For years this question has evaded me. Id like to see it explained sensibly, remembering that a fact is a truth which can be shown to be true, shown to have happened, or shown to exist, so no guessing or opinions or theories please.

Just as in a trial court you must have supporting evidence that would convince a reasonable person.

The bible created the issue, so dont tell me what Luther or Olsteen said about it, show me the biblical line of reasoning confirming the matter.

Make me know it is true by the word. Good luck.

Good luck? So your supposing the Word of God has no answer to your question. :) Her is the truth by God's Word, just for you

Both the Devil and God have desires of their own, of which men become partakers when they serve one or the other (John 8:44; 1 John 3:8; 2 Peter 1:4).

If the old lusts are from Satan and the new lusts are from God, then this fact proves that sin is the spirit and nature of the devil working in sons of disobedience, and that righteousness is the Spirit and nature of God working in the sons of obedience.

A believe is made "dead indeed unto sin" and "freed from sin" when he becomes a new creature. But he does not become dead to, or freed from his original body, soul, and spirit. Every original part of man was created sinless, and sin could not be a part of mans own being (Romans 5:12-21; 6:5-22; 8:1-13). Death to, and freedom from sin refer to being free from the person of the devil and his spirit that took control of man at the time of the fall.

Christ "died unto sin once," to "take away sin" and to "put away sin," but He did not die to do away with any part of mans bodily members, soul passions, and spirit faculties, for they themselves were originally created sinless (Romans 6:10; John 1:29; Hebrews 7:27; 9:12, 26). The whole man becomes sinless when one becomes a new creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) If he stays one (and he can), he continues in a sinless life (Colossians 2:6-7; 1 John 2:1-2, 29; 3:8-10; 5:1-5, 18).

By reckoning the "old man" dead and the "new man" alive: "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God, For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace" (Romans 6:11-14).

How could anyone reckon himself dead to something that was not constantly present to deal with? When a believe becomes dead to sin and alive to God, he no longer lives after the flesh and in sin and under the power and dominion of Satan. He will still have to "reckon" himself dead to sin, and this proves the "old man" or the devil is still present to deal with.

Men are told to "put off" the old man and to "put on" the new man (Romans 6:6 Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 3:5-10) The new man is the body, soul, and spirit of man delivered from sin and Satan and renewed, "born again," after the image of God (2 Corinthians 3:18; 5:17; Galatians 6:15; Ephesians 2:8-10; Colossians 3:3-4; 2 Peter 1:4; 1 John 1:7-9; 3:8-10). It is Christ formed in one and the individual transformed into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Galatians 3"27-29; 4:19; 5:25). Sin is the old man that must be "put off," and righteousness is the new man that must be "put on."

John 3:3, Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again,1 he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:7, Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.2

1 Peter 1:23, Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

John 3:4, Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

V.5, Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

V. 6, That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Hi AwakeLive,

There are lots of good answers with scripture, so I`ll just make mine brief.

`How are you born again.`

Wonderful question for it leads to eternal life. A person is born again when Jesus` Spirit, (the Holy Spirit) enters their spirit & makes it alive. From then on there is the need of the person to grow in their spirit so that eventually their spirit rules over their emotions, & body.

To be born of Spirit is that which was before creation Gen 1:1 and will continue past the destruction of said creation into the eternity of the new creation Rev 22... it cannot be examined or known by the present creation as substantive (this world and all that it comprises is passing away) but the creation points to or testifies of the need of Spirit even the essentials of understanding Spirit so that men are without excuse even by being 1stborn in it

Romans 1:18 (KJV)

[18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

[19] Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

[20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

[21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

[22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

The really sad thing is God loves you and doesn't wish for you to perish in your 1st born realities of lies and deceptions but this

2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)

[9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

[10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

[11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

[12] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

[13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

You cling to yourself that is dying and to a place that is passing away (to be no more) and you are settled in this ... you will not come to Jesus so you could have new life because you will not to! You will die and present this emptiness to God Who has offered new birth through His Son >unless< you repent of this vanity and come to Him by first just calling out His Name Jesus and asking for deliverance from the lies within yourself and the world of darkness you were born into... you have heard the knock once more upon the door of your heart

Revelation 3:18 (KJV)

[18] I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

[19] As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

[20] Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

[21] To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

[22] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

  Love, Steven

Luk 17:20  And having been questioned by the Pharisees, when the reign of God doth come, he answered them, and said, 'The reign of God doth not come with observation;  Luk 17:21 WEB  neither will they say, ‘Look, here!’ or, ‘Look, there!’ for behold, God’s Kingdom is within you.”  Luk 17:21 YLT nor shall they say, Lo, here; or lo, there; for lo, the reign of God is within you.'

YES I am speaking of the Kingdom of God dwelling in us by allowing the Holy Spirit to reign in us.  God is King where He reigns.  Does He reign in your life?

Rom 8:9  But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.  Rom 8:10  If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness.  Rom 8:11  But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Unless the Holy Spirit has been born in us and dwells in us now, we cannot inherit the Kingdom of Heaven when we are caught up to be with the Lord.  If Christ does not live and reign in us now and we are not a part of the Kingdom of God now, neither will we be part of His Kingdom in heaven.  When our bodies are caught up to meet Him in the air we shall be like Him in a transformed spiritual bodies.  This will be done by His Spirit who dwells in me.  But I was born of His Spirit when Christ came to live in me many years ago.  My body will be changed by His Spirit when I am caught up to meet Him in the air.  I do not consider that being born again or being born from above.

GOT QUESTIONS:Question: "What does it mean to be a born again Christian?"

Answer:
What does it mean to be a born-again Christian? The classic passage from the Bible that answers this question is John 3:1-21. The Lord Jesus Christ is talking to Nicodemus, a prominent Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin (the ruling body of the Jews). Nicodemus had come to Jesus at night with some questions.

As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said, “‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.’ ‘How can a man be born when he is old?’ Nicodemus asked. ‘Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, “You must be born again”’” (John 3:3-7).

The phrase "born again" literally means "born from above." Nicodemus had a real need. He needed a change of his heart—a spiritual transformation. New birth, being born again, is an act of God whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes (2 Corinthians 5:17Titus 3:51 Peter 1:31 John 2:293:94:75:1-418). John 1:1213indicates that being "born again" also carries the idea of "becoming children of God" through trust in the name of Jesus Christ.

The question logically comes, "Why does a person need to be born again?" The apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:1 says, "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins" (NKJV). To the Romans he wrote, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Sinners are spiritually “dead”; when they receive spiritual life through faith in Christ, the Bible likens it to a rebirth. Only those who are born again have their sins forgiven and have a relationship with God.

How does that come to be? Ephesians 2:8-9 states, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." When one is saved, he/she has been born again, spiritually renewed, and is now a child of God by right of new birth. Trusting in Jesus Christ, the One who paid the penalty of sin when He died on the cross, is the means to be "born again." "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

So I agree to disagree with Sister as to what constitutes being "Born again of the Spirit" OR being "born from above."   Yes, I am speaking of the Holy Spirit.  That is also what Jesus was talking about to Nicodemus.

For years this question has evaded me. Id like to see it explained sensibly...

1. To be born again is to experience the New Birth.

2. The New Birth is supernatural, and is effected by God the Holy Spirit. It is not visible outwardly.

3. Therefore "born again" is also "born of God", "born from above", "born of the Spirit".

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:11-13).

4. The New Birth involves the "quickening" (or bringing to life) of the dead spirit within every sinner.  While the soul is alive at birth, the spirit is dead.  Hence the imperative "Ye MUST be born again". It is the spirit that understands spiritual things and communicates with God.

5. The New Birth occurs only after a sinner obeys the Gospel, which means repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

6. When this happens, the believer receives the gift of the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) who then brings about the New Birth.

7. The New Birth means a "new creature in Christ" -- a new heart, a new spirit, a new direction, new desires, new motivations, new relationships, particularly a new relationship to God and Christ, and a new "walk" in the Spirit. This is a total transformation from sinner to saint.  In essence, the person who is born again lives to please God, not himself.

A dramatic illustration of this is the conversion of Saul of Tarsus to Paul the apostle and bondservant (or bondslave) of the Lord Jesus Christ. Study the Acts of the Apostles.

I happened to be watching a 1984 PTL telecast with Brother Ward as a guesT & the conversation was about Evidence of LIFE.....which was fantastic & I thinkyou might like it

He compared the evidence of physical life to that of spiritual life & said there are 4 Evidences in each......

1-Assimilate......A living being needs to eat, they must eat & drink to sustain life     Dead people are not hungry or thirsty, corpses do not eat!!

And the same goes for the Born Again Believer who is made ALIVE spiritually, they hunger & thirst first for the milk they need & then the meat ....they thirst after Righteousness   It is a mark of LIFE

2- Eliminate.......A living person body must eliminate, their bowels must remain open, bladder etc,,,, & throw off the old,the waste

And the same for the spiritual .....they put off the old, those things of the lifestyle, malice for example uis put off & they put on the new....humbleness

The cussing, swearing ,smoking ,drinking etc,,,, are eliminated

3-Growth..........If you are alive you grow, from a baby you grow up & get taller.....older you may grow wider(he was quite comedic) The physical body does grow...there are outward signs of decadence

And when the Trumphet blows those that are ALIVE & remain ............Yes,if you are ALIVE spiritually there must be growth, you must mature ,gain Wisdom,Understanding

4-Reproduce......There is a physical urge to reproduce to BEGET

Jesus started with 2 & then 12 & then 500,3000 and the world was turned upside down as they multiplied & multiplied

He said if you put a corpse in an ice chest,or a beautiful coffin  inside of the most beautiful church with beautiful pews & a beautiful organs with chandeliers & flowers it cannot bring anyone in to see it because there is nothing inside,it is a dead corpse

Praise Jesus, that is what I heard this morning & I thought I would share it                                   With love-in Christ,Kwik

Excellent, well spoken.  He was a great teacher.

  Hi Willa

And what did Jesus answer Nicodemus?

John 3:9   Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?

John 3:10   Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

John 3:11   Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.

John 3:12   If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

John 3:13   And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

John 3:14   And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

Was Jesus not leading up to speak of the resurrection?

Ok, that's fine.  What you are speaking of is "baptism of the holy spirit".  I disagree with you here, that in John 3, I see Jesus is speaking of "the resurrection", showing a comparison of being born flesh the first time, then spirit the second time.

If you can't see that coming back from the dead, in the resurrection as spirit, and perfected, is not another way of being born again into this world, I cannot say any more.

And for the record, I do believe there is the renewing of the mind, the new man in Christ, a new heart, but in this chapter, I believe Christ is going deeper, and he said  "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again", but everyone is marvelling, telling the whole world, preaching themselves, which I find disturbing.

And if all of these claimed they were born again, and didn't make it to the resurrection, professing to everyone that the kingdom of heaven was already given to them, and that they had the holy spirit in them, then how shameful, for in the end it's Christ who judges.

Matthew 7:21   Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 7:22   Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Matthew 7:23   And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
