Trump, and politics, won't be Christians' savior relgious experts say

It can be, I agree. especially in a debate about politics, which is why its often best not to make them. I tend to try to keep most of my political humor posts in the humor section of the forums for that reason, or if I do decide to elsewhere I attempt to make it abundantly clear I'm just joking, and even then sometimes I fall flat on my face.

I think there are lots of other reasons that people have a hard time with religion, the least of which is articles like this.

Multiple times, actually, both here and elsewhere. Now that's not to say that it didn't happen to you or that it was ok-just that its something that goes both ways. This last election was very controversial, it still is and passions are fired up all the way around.

I think as a believer, and an American, you're free to like and vote for anyone you please.  If someone tells you you're 'not Christian' because you don't support the POTUS, report them.  The article was written on the assumption that Trump's supporters see him as a 'savior'.  I sure don't and I don't know anyone who does.  My Savior, and yours, rose from the dead two thousand years ago.  The writer doesn't know what they're talking about.

Anyway. I was simply trying to inform as to why the writer of the article may feel the way they do about Christians and politics.  

 

I've been reported and banned from threads too, LK, for doing the opposite.  You aren't being singled out here.  But I think the writer of the article wrote it because he just doesn't understand how Christians think.  Trying to put his own spin on other people, IOW.

While I do understand that neither you or I and many of the Christians here see Mr. Trump as a "savior". I do not think that the writer of the article is completely wrong. There are people ( what degree of Christian they are I can not say) who do see Mr. Trump as  a "savior" so to speak. And other politicians as well.  I have heard of churches  telling their members that they will be kicked out of church if they don't vote Republican.   

The world sees people who call themselves Christians doing and saying things that are unChristian. So that is why they think we are all like this.  We need to show them that we are not all like this. 

I hope I worded this right. I'm feeling a bit off today.

I think you give too much credit and focus to "them" and not enough to "us", how are most often our own worst enemy.

These are not singular events that happen once in a blue moon to individuals who never talk among themselves. This is an ongoing effort over the lifetimes of some people to assassinate the character of Christianity. Wasn't it Joseph Goebbels who said, " If you repeat a lie long enough, load enough and often enough, people will believe it?"

When you bring up these crackpots whole groups of people hear it, they talk among themselves about it, make jokes about it. People make films and TV shows depicting Christianity in a certain way and suddenly we have a cultural change from the ground up, starting with our kids.

I don't think I would ever call the POTUS a savior,  but he surely has taken this country out of a disastrous direction with the Supreme Court.  However I think the new Supreme Court Judge is more concerned about upholding the Constitution than he is the Bible.....      but hey, no one accuses me of being fair and balanced...
