food rationing

My uncles old farmhouse was littered with junk. One day I found some old ration cards in the dust. My grandfather used to walk ten miles across the hill-country to work every day when he lived there. My old uncle had an old A-35 with about 4k on the clock. It was at least 15 years old. No brakes and no licence. Very narrow roads. He would take it to Hay every market day. What a trip!!

I miss so much of the social "culture"  in my neck of the woods that we enjoyed in the 80s, which were my teen years, as well.

We hung out at the mall food court, and the mall arcade called, "Aladdin's Castle."   Movies were $3. 50.  We had a great time just walking around the mall and making fun of some of the trendy clothing they were selling.

After hanging out at the mall, or seeing a movie we would go to "Andy's Frozen Custard"  which is kind of like a ice cream shop, but it didn't have inside seating.   You walked up to the window and got your order and then everyone would go back to their cars and sit on the hood of their cars and eat their frozen custard and we all just hung out there in the parking lot.  No one caused any trouble there, that I can remember.  It was just fun. Andy's was just a great place to hang out.

The mall has changed and does not really lend itself to being a teen hangout anymore.  I went to the food court the other day and everyone was on their phones and not much socializing going on.  People used to talk to each other face to face, and now everything is done on the phones.

And when people DO finally get together, they ignore each other while they text on their phones!

Shopping malls have a whole new vibe now........way more upscale and trendy, instead of just "normal".  I try to avoid them as much as I can, don't much care for the atmosphere.

wow....people came a lot tougher back then.....over here nowadays we just know how to whine more, lol.  Well, God knows something needs to change, and I'm afraid He is going to bring it.  The trouble with blessing a people is always the flesh......."peace and prosperity" always spoils people eventually no matter how we slice it, it happened to the ancient Israelites and it has happened in Christendom.  So no wonder the Lord allows tribulations in this life.

Sister you praise the Lord.     you loved sister .    I worry for so many that are so tied into technology.  this whole deal will backfire in time

when the very tech they love and are beholden too , will become the very enslaver of the world .    I do not like where i see this all heading.

When my boy was younger , OH yeah it was his twelfth birthday and he had a friend with him.

As usual i took my boy on walks , bicycle rides and things like that .  HIS friend who was twelve also

made a comment that floored me .     Noah was being silly and they were asking each other what they would do if they had a million dollars.

Now noah knows my speech about the love of money .  but anyway,   he asked that kid .    And this floored me.

HE said he would buy noahs dad, cause he actually does things with us and don't just sit on a computer like his dad.

I had no idea that made such an impact.    But that is sad.  because sadly some parents do that .  they just sit and let the kids do whatever

as they are hugged on their computer.      The kids actually do desire and can tell when affection is genuine .    I know i never had much money

and personally don't care .     Gadgets and all that stuff is a distraction.  but to hear a kid of this generation say that ,   was suprising .

THEY do KNOW .  As much as i told noah when he was growing up about the LORD and yes i was grave at times.

We always did cheap things together , like walks, throwing the ball, things like that .  Due to i did not ever once let him on no computer , nor video games.

He got all that from other family .    I pray it sinks in to noah.   i do.

Amen brother.....children sure do need that back and forth relationship with their Papa, and to know he cares.  Well the devil comes to rob and destroy, it's what he does for a living......and we trust the Lord knows what He is doing when He allows it.......and sent Jesus to destroy the works of the devil.  One day soon He is going to destroy all evil, a new heavens and new earth is something to look forward to.

Hmm, the fifties; Greater Boston area; gang fights, national guard called out, fixed bayonets, curfew at sunset. No intermixing of faiths or even denominations of Christianity, nor of the human races, nor of nationalities, censorship of books news and tv and radio, riots, suppression of civil rights, even lynchings, police rousts, polio epidemics, rampant TB, measles, quarantines, duck and cover drills, Kruschev.

Simplier? Better? Was extremely difficult for me.

Why even the brick school house was a fire bomb waiting to burn, with it's wood floors  and stairwells cleaned each day  by  the janitor using a solution of kerosine and wax mixed into  sawdust. In shop classes we played with lead type in print shop then went into metal shop and smelted aluminum, as the exposed asbestos wrapped steam heat pipes gurgled overhead.

Well, we WERE having a good time, until you blew up our rose-coloured glassses!  ;)

Glad I grew up in NH!  Not that far North, but a world of difference.

I went to the movies tonight and the movie was set in the '80s which were my teen years. Everything from the fashion (bad I know :) ) to the music in the movie made me really miss that decade . I got kinda melancholy!

Should we as Christians long for times past?

In my opinion that could be any period in the past. Many people believe that things are getting worse generally as we are nearing the day of judgement. In these circumstances the past and all that goes with it psychologically looks brighter.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
