If the Lord teaches us to forgive our enemies, how much more should we be willing to forgive our brothers and sisters in Christ.   No question about it, we should always do that.

No the bible teaches us that there has to be repentance before there can be forgiveness. Then our forgiveness is unlimited.

For those who will not or cannot say sorry we commit them in to Gods care and pray for them.

This is taught all the way through the OT and the NT.

This is very much demanding that the offender apologize. Not forgiving the offender until a apology is received first is an excuse to remain angry and resentful at the offender or wrong doing.  A withholding.  Actually it is a jab aimed at the offender in return. Forgiving the offender is for the victim's benefit. It doesn't necessarily mean the offender is off of God's hook concerning the offense, but that you (collective you) let the offender off of your hook, as Jesus commanded us to.

Matthew 5:45 He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Try reading my second sentance.

As I wrote, Those who cannot or will not say sorry we commit to God and pray for them.

If one does this then one is obeying how in the OT the jews were to act towards offenders.

They were to come before God in the temple with there sacrifices, confesing there sins, willingness to forgive offenders etc as they made a sacrifice to God.

In the bible God does not forgive unrepentant sinners.

We, like God, do not nave to forgive someeone who has offended us, but we do have to be willing to forgive.  Our willingness to pray for them show how willing we are.

It id not possible to pray for someones benefit and also to care for them.

What about when Jesus, in the very throes of being crucified, asked the Father to forgive those in the process crucifying Him? (Luke 23:34)

Our purpose in life is to develop God's love and character. When we forgive others, irregardless of their attitude or “if” they say they are sorry or they do not say they are sorry; we are reflecting God's love and character when we do it anyway. If a person says he/she is sorry it is absolutely necessary to forgive. But other scriptures show us that we must forgive even when the guilty party does not say they are sorry. The thing of it is that the wrongs committed against us by another person does not even compare to the offenses we have committed against God.

Matthew 18:35 "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."
Mark 11: 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

Matthew 6:14, 15 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Proverbs 19: 11 A person's wisdom yields patience; it is to one's glory to overlook an offense.

Ephesians 4:26 "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,

Forgiving everyone that has hurt us benefits our own hearts.   Learning to leave people in God's hands is the best thing to do if they haven't asked forgiveness in hurting us.

What about it. He asked his Father to forgive them. He did not forgive them!

It is what we should do, when an offender will not say sorry.

I agree that we cannot forgive others for their sins on behalf of God. The sins Jesus died for.

However, we can, and must , forgive others for their injuries to us personally, and release it to God.

In the same way as we turn a criminal over to the courts, and give the judging and sentencing to the Law, instead of taking matters into our own hands.

By me relinquishing  any ownership of the offense, through me forgiving them and giving the offense to God to deal with, I release the hurt and pain and resentment in me, and also show God I trust him and am obedient to the Lord's Prayer.

Sometimes it's very hard to do.

We must forgive! Why? God does not forgive those who do not repent.

So why do you like the pharsees, do you day we Must donors than what God does.

Yes we need to grow to be like God.

God does Not forgive those who do not repent.

As I have said repeatedly, repentance is through the whole OT. The Jews would understand that they needed to repent before there could be forgiveness.

Try reading the account in Luke about repentance and forgiveness.

Remember, just how does God forgive you or me?

It is only on our repentance.

I really enjoyed reading this devotional. Writings of authors from those days were as classic as the era. Very nice!

I agree, I love going back and reading old time ministers like C.H. Mackintosh, John Darby, and mostly all of the Plymouth Brethren.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
